Author Talk: See Mom Run with Megan Searfoss

Local author, runner and businesswoman Megan Searfoss will discuss her recently released book See Mom Run: Every Mother's Guide to Getting Fit and Running Her First 5KMegan Searfoss is a wife and a mother of three daughters who learned to run because she found it an inexpensive, time-saving, and mostly mind-saving exercise. She started Run Like a Mother, a national 5K race designed to encourage women of all levels to experience the gift of running as a means to finding balance in their livesCo-sponsored with Books on the Common.  Please register.

 

This program is made possible thanks to all who donated to the Mothers: Live Your Life fund in honor of Noreen L. Papa, a Ridgefield mom and library advocate who died of colon cancer in 2013. Through this fund, her family and friends hope to keep the memory of Noreen alive and help other mothers live a more healthy life. The Writers Guild offers writers in Fairfield and Westchester County a support forum that includes a general critique of works-in-progress, and the exchange of information and ideas on topics about writing. Established more than a decade ago, the Ridgefield Writers Guild is a time-honored organization of writers whose genres span literary fiction, essay, short and flash fiction, memoir, young adult, children's books and poetry. Email Linda Merlino at lindamerlino@sbcglobal.net or call 203-240-2243 for more information.

New Art Exhibit Opens

Exhibit Opening: Malcom Moran - Recent Printworks 
Through this exhibition of painterly prints, Malcolm Moran describes his art as "first a language, the most natural way by which I can express things important to me." Moran has two undergraduate college degrees, one from the University of the South in Tennessee in history and one from the Rhode Island School of Design in painting in Providence, Rhode Island. In addition, he has shown his work at places like the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Lilly Islin Gallery, Virginia Lynch Gallery, in Rhode Island and the Contemporary Art Center and Simonne Stern Gallery and Aldrich Leatherman Gallery in New Orleans. He has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT and worked closely with the folks at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT and 10 grand Press in Brooklyn, NY.
No registration required for the reception. The exhibit will be open during Library hours through January 30th.

Computer Science Education Week is over, but we are still coding! Have you done your Hour of Code yet? Click here or go to ridgefieldcodes.org to get started and learn how to log your work through January to earn prizes and raffle tickets.  Save the date of February 7th for a grand celebration of the end of this Ridgefield Codes initiative, with tech demonstrations, hands-on opportunities, a career panel, prizes and awards.
