Shop local and support your Library at the same time!

The 29th is also Small Business Saturday, when shoppers get a rebate on purchases made with an American Express card at participating small retailers including Books on the Common. As a special incentive that day, the bookstore will be participating in IndiesFirst, a program in which authors take a turn at being booksellers at their local independent bookstore - drop by and Lauren Tarshis, Roz Chast, Peter Spiegelman and Mark Slouka will be on hand to serve you!
Are You Missing Anything Important?
cartoon-teddy-header.jpg Our Lost and Found box is getting full!  We have quite a collection of stuffed animals that have been left behind, along with backpacks, outdoor clothing and more.  Ask at the Circulation Desk if you may have left something during a visit to the Library.
We're Doing Downton!

Join Downton Abbey fans and others for a festive Downton themed cocktail party and entertainment on Sunday, December 7 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM.  Come in costume if you like, but not necessary.  Test your wits on Downton Abbey trivia and customs of the day.  Dine on 1920s hearty appetizers, drink 'Downton Abbey Wine,' pose for vintage photos, and much more. Outstanding prizes available.  This Ridgefield Library fundraiser is only $75 per person. Click here to purchase tickets.

The Big Read

Our Final Big Read Event!

Monday, November 24, 7:00 PM

@ Ridgefield Library

RAC Generator

Great F. Scott ... it's a November meeting of The Generator!  The Ridgefield Arts Council invites local artists and creative professionals to the next installment of "The Generator." Jazz dance students from the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance will present a short class from combinations inspired by The Great Gatsby (choreography by Danielle Marie Fusco and Allison Sale). And Ken Needleman, of Fodera Fine Art Conservation, will discuss the Jazz Master's Series, a music performance series which takes place monthly at a local venue. Following the brief presentations, members of The Generator will be encouraged to mix and mingle with presenters and each other. Creative types who live in and around Ridgefield are welcome to attend. Cost of attending The Generator is $5 for pre-registration (via meetup.com/The-Generator-Ridgefield-CT) or $10 at the door, which covers the cost of wine and light snacks.

PLEASE NOTE: Earlier lectures by Mark Schenker and Maureen Corrigan are now available as podcasts on the Big  Read page on the Library's website at www.ridgefieldlibrary.org.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment. The NEA presents The Big Read in partnership with Arts Midwest. Support has also been received from Connecticut Humanities (CTH), a non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities that funds, creates and collaborates on hundreds of cultural programs across Connecticut each year.  This program is also made possible with support from Liz and Steven Goldstone.   The 2014 Big Read in Ridgefield is presented by The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts and the Ridgefield Library, along with numerous community partners.
