The Big Read Keynote Address
So We Read On: How The Great Gatsby Came To Be and Why It Endures with Maureen Corrigan
Maureen Corrigan, book critic for NPR's Fresh Air and critic-in-residence and lecturer at Georgetown University, will discuss her newly released book on the extraordinary "second act" of The Great Gatsby (Little, Brown, September 2014). Registration is recommended.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment. The NEA presents The Big Read in partnership with Arts Midwest. Support has also been received from Connecticut Humanities (CTH), a non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities that funds, creates and collaborates on hundreds of cultural programs across Connecticut each year.  This program is also made possible with support from Liz and Steven Goldstone.   The 2014 Big Read in Ridgefield is presented by The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts and the Ridgefield Library, along with numerous community partners.

Getting Started with Zinio
Zinio is the library's newest online resource, offering Library cardholders complete full color, interactive digital magazines on computers or on a range of mobile devices. Select from 46 magazines covering a wide range of interests including NewsweekRolling StoneEating Well, The Atlantic, National Geographic, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance.   Zinio's stunning interface recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, intuitive navigation, and key word searches for articles.  Drop in anytime between 5 and 7 PM to find out how to get started using this valuable resource.
Camp Snooze Registration Now Underway
The Library's popular 4th grade library sleepover is back - November 8th for boys and November 15th for girls.  The cost for this fun-filled, chaperoned evening is $120 ($80 of which is tax-deductible).  Campers will have access to the entire Library and its collections.  The night will include magic, a scavenger hunt, art projects, games and a visit for the Hot Dog Man.
