Growing Herbs and Kitchen Gardens with Master Gardener Donna Katsuranis
In this fun, informative evening, Donna Katsuranis will talk to us about growing some of our own consumables - be they herbs, veggies, or fruit - without being a slave to the garden. Donna Katsuranis is an Interfaith Minister and an Advanced Master Gardener who lectures and guides walks year-round on garden and nature-related subjects. During the warm season, she also coaches individual gardeners on how to bring their Garden ideas to life - be they Flower Beds, Lawns, Veggie gardens, Herb patches, Wildflower meadows, Trees or Shrubs. Discover the trend of eco-friendly art making and sustainable living, and how it is changing both the art world and everyday life, during a cross-disciplinary discussion among visual artist and naturalist Sarah Breznen, author Verlyn Klinkenborg, and solar energy and composting specialist Michael Smith.
In March 2014, The Aldrich celebrates Draw On! Goes Green with programming inspired by sustainability, recycling, and green art-making. This event is presented in collaboration with Books on the Common and The Ridgefield Library. More information about Draw On! and about this program.

Portraits in Motion: Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years
This performance from M&M Productions was adapted by Emily Mann from the book, Having Our Say, by Sarah L. Delany and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth, and is based on the extraordinary and long lives of the Delany sisters. The Delany sisters will be portrayed by actresses Donna D. James and Leslie Smithey. This program is presented in celebration of National Women's History Month and is co-sponsored by the Keeler Tavern Museum. Please register.

Take our Photo-a-Day Challenge

During the month of March, for those who are teens, or those who are teens at heart, the Ridgefield Library is offering a Photo-A-Day Challenge. On the New Ridgefield Library's Facebook page, you'll find a bright green photo offering daily "prompts" - ideas to inspire you. Take a photo of your interpretation of the suggestion and share your photo using social media. You can use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr, your own blog...the choice is up to you! But when you share your photo, please add the hashtag #ridgefieldlibpix so that the rest of us who are playing can follow along and see all the photos inspired by the prompt.

Tuesday, 6:00 PM, Library Program Room Scrabble Play Scrabble with a tournament experienced teacher. For children in grades 4 - 8. Wednesday, 2:00 PM, Library Program Room Preschool Stories & Crafts Preschoolers ages 3 - 5 are invited to drop in to hear stories and make a craft.
