Interim Operations at 21 Governor Street Come to an End on April 17th
Full Library Services to Resume Saturday, May 10th at 472 Main Street
The new Ridgefield Library is nearly complete, and the time has come for our move into our new (and old) home at 472 Main Street, after 19 months of residence in our temporary location in the former HayDay/Balducci's building. We will be closing up shop at the end of the day on Thursday, April 17 and will open again on Saturday, May 10, during Opening Weekend. Stop by this week to stock up on reading, viewing and listening materials, and click here for more information about what this temporary interruption in some library services may mean for you. A TAG SALE of any remaining items not needed in the new Library will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 AM - noon at 21 Governor Street. Stop by for great bargains on furniture and fixtures, including shelving units, tables, chairs and more.
Special thanks to our landlords, the Donnelly Trust, and to our neighbors on Governor Street for making us feel so welcome. Thanks also to the partners who have hosted Library programs during this period. Please visit us at the other end of downtown soon!

Phyllis Paccadolmi (192?-2006) devoted over 50 years of her long life to the Ridgefield Library, joining its small staff straight out of high school in 1946 and retiring in 1999 after having served in every capacity from page to director. For generations of Ridgefielders, "Miss P" personified the Ridgefield Library and is remembered fondly for her warmth, helpfulness and encyclopedic knowledge of the town and its people. This award honors those whose commitment to the Library exemplifies her spirit and dedication.

Paccadolmi Awards to Be Presented May 9th
One of the highlights of Opening Weekend will be presentation of the Paccadolmi Awards, given out each year by the Library to honor leadership and volunteer service. The 2014 Paccadolmi honorees will be Philip and Christine Lodewick and the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.
Philip Lodewick, aided by his wife Christine, served as Chair of the Campaign for the New Ridgefield Library. He coined the slogan Do It Once, Do it Right, Do It Now, and then made it happen just that way. It is due to his leadership that the Library was able to raise over $15 million privately and to secure bond funding of $5 million from the town at referendum.
The Friends of the Ridgefield Library's commitment of $100,000 in 2006 was virtually the first pledge received for the project, and their further commitment in 2013 was the gift that pushed us over our fundraising goal. Along the way, they helped out in every possible way. With total giving of over $300,000 and countless hours of volunteer service, the Friends have been indispensable and inspirational.
