Opening Weekend for the New Ridgefield Library Set for May 9-11
Ribbon Cutting, Dedications and Book Brigade Kick Off the Festivities on Friday Afternoon
Peter Coffin, Chair of the Ridgefield Library Board of Directors, is very pleased to announce that the official Opening Weekend for the New Ridgefield Library has been set for May 9-11.   "It has been more than 10 years in the works, and has taken the generosity and hard work of nearly 1,300 people to bring to fruition, but the time is finally here," says Coffin. "We invite the entire community to join us on Friday, May 9th (late afternoon, time TBA) for ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremonies, to be followed throughout the weekend by performances, demonstrations, games, guided tours and more to help visitors discover the many delights of the New Ridgefield Library."

Festivities will kick off with a Book Brigade, led by Maurice Sendak's "Wild Thing" - a human chain of people from throughout the community passing the last few books from the shelves of our temporary facility down the street and putting them in place on the shelves of the new building. Highlights will include the presentation of this year's Paccadolmi Awards for leadership and volunteer service and unveiling of the Wall of Donors and the Community Mural, each commemorating the generosity of many of the donors who have made this day possible. A full schedule of Opening Weekend activities can be found at www.thenewridgefieldlibrary.org.

Individuals, families and groups who wish to participate in the Book Brigade are invited to contact Assistant Director Mary Rindfleisch at 203-438-2282 x1009 or mfrind@ridgefieldlibrary.org.

Special activities marking the Opening Weekend of the New Ridgefield Library are made possible by the generous support of the Wadsworth Russell Lewis Fund and the assistance of the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

Great Expectations
Save the Date for An Evening Affair to Benefit the Ridgefield Library

Thanks to you, Ridgefield soon opens a new home - a special place for our community to Connect, Discover and Imagine.  To celebrate the New Ridgefield Library, please plan to join us on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 7:30 PM for Great Expectations, the Library's first signature fundraising event. We'll honor Larry and Nancy Bossidy with the inaugural Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award, explore our new home over fine food and drinks, and benefit the Library's continued contributions to Ridgefield's dynamic and exciting future.

For more information, reservations and sponsorships, please contact Colleen Harkey at 203-438-2282 x1027, or email  cmharkey@ridgefieldlibrary.org.

"We think about our kids coming back to Ridgefield when they are grown and seeing their names on the Wall of Donors.  It's something they will be proud of forever.  The Library has given our family so much throughout the years...it's an honor and a privilege to be able to support it in this next exciting phase."
