Author Talk with Ron Berler

Ron Berler will discuss his recently released book Raising the Curve: A Year Inside One of America's 45,000 Failing Public Schools. It tells the story of two fifth-grade, Norwalk, Conn., girls, their teacher, the school's literacy specialist and the principal, and the struggles they face trying to lift themselves and their school from the pressures of No Child Left Behind. Please register.

Writing Workshop for New Writers

Writing Workshop for New Writers 1 of 3  

In this three week workshop Phyllis Ross will introduce some of the writing practices that encourage, equip and support new writers. We will write poetry and prose to explore how writing helps us discover our "voices" and what has meaning for each of us. Bring along a notebook and a pen, and a sense of adventure.  

 

This workshop meets on the following Thursdays: Jan. 16, Jan, 23 and Jan 30. The workshop is limited to 12 participants and is limited to people who have not previously taken a writing workshop. This series is made possible thanks to the Friends of the Ridgefield Library. Please register.

Affordable Care Act Enrollment Fairs
The Library will be offering several opportunities to have assisters and navigators from Access Health CT, certified by the state, available to give one on one guidance about health care coverage and enrollment. Please email Lesley at lalambton@ridgefieldlibrary.org or call 203 438-2282 (ext 1013) to reserve a 45 minute spot during one of these Enrollment Fairs at the Library.

Special Middle School & Junior Critics Meeting
Students in Grades 6 - 8  and Students in Grades 4 & 5 Come join us for a special Critics Meeting! 
We'll be celebrating the Ridgefield Playhouse's  upcoming production  of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"  with our own special showing of "Tom & Huck,"  starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Brad Renfro (1995 rated PG) and based on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.   We'll also be serving pizza.  No registration.
