Author Talk: Living and Sustaining a Creative Life with Sharon M. Louden

Join Sharon Louden, editor of the recently published book Living and Sustaining a Creative Life: Essays by 40 Working Artists, along with fellow artists and contributing authors Richard Klein, artist and Aldrich exhibitions director, and Maureen Connor, Queens College CUNY professor, for a frank look at how they and other artists balance the competing demands of their creative and professional lives.  A book signing will follow the talk.  The program is presented in collaboration with Books on the Common and the Ridgefield Library.

 

Sharon M. Louden, a full-time practicing artist who lives and works in New York City, graduated with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Yale University, School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including The Aldrich, the Drawing Center, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and is held in public and private collections such as the Neuberger Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has over twenty years of teaching experience, including studio and professional practice classes for students of all levels in colleges and universities throughout the United States. This program is made possible thanks to CT Still Revolutionary, Morris Media and WSHU.

 

Price:  Free for members of The Aldrich; Free with the price of admission ($10 adults/$5 seniors 60+ and students)

Shutterbugs Meet Saturday

Shutterbugs
The Library's photography group meets on the second Saturday of the month to discuss their craft and/or head out on their many field trips. They will meet in the parking lot at 21 Governor Street at 9:00 to then go out on field trips.

Gigi and the Lend Me a Hand Band
Gigi will perform a lively interactive concert for little ones ages 6 and under.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. This concert is part of the Ridgefield Library's Music for Young Families series. Admission is free of charge.   This program will be held at and co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Center. No registration required.
