Author Talk with B.A. Shapiro

 Thursday, July 11, 7:00 PM Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, 258 Main Street Author Talk with B.A. Shapiro B.A. Shapiro is the author of The Art Forger, a literary thriller about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist that spans three centuries of forgers, art thieves, and obsessive collectors. Writing as Barbara Shapiro, she is also the author of five suspense novels: The Safe Room, Blind Spot, See No Evil, Blameless and Shattered Echoes, as well as the non-fiction book, The Big Squeeze. This program is presented by Books on the Common, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and the Ridgefield Library. It is part of the Library's Adult Summer Reading program, made possible thanks to the Friends of the Library. No registration.

Saturday, July 13, 9:00 AM 21 Governor Street Shutterbugs The Ridgefield Library's photography group meets monthly to discuss their craft and/or head out on their many field trips. They will meet in the parking lot at 21 Governor Street at 9:00 AM to then go out on field trips. New members are always welcome.

Shop Local: Find Waldo Here!

 Throughout the month of July, twenty-five Ridgefield businesses, including the Ridgefield Library, are hiding that world traveler Waldo, and Ridgefield children are invited to seek him out all over town. Children can get a Find Waldo Passport at the first place they spot Waldo, then find him in other stores, and collect stamps from all the businesses where Waldo is hiding. Books on the Common will give prizes to players who find at least 10 different Waldos, and the bookstore will hold a Waldo Party on Wednesday July 31.

Children going into grades 2 and 3 read a book and meet to eat lunch and have a discussion and do an activity about the book. Children bring their lunches. Registration required by signing up at the Information Desk and picking up a copy of the book to be discussed.
Wednesday, July 10, 6:00 PM Parks and Recreation Center The Secret Garden by Hampstead Stage Company The Hampstead Stage Company's performance of The Secret Garden is appropriate for children ages 5 and older accompanied by an adult. Summer Reading fun each week for kids of all ages! No registration required - just drop in when your schedule permits.
Monday 10:30 AM, Library Program Room Drop-In Storytime Children ages 3 and up are invited for stories, songs and a short book-based film. Monday 6:00 PM, Library Program Room PJ Storytime Wear your PJs and hear stories about bedtime and see a short film. Bedtime snacks will be served. For children ages 3 and older. Mother Goose Drop in for fingerplays, music, movement and a book! For ages birth through age 2 years accompanied by an adult. No registration required during the summer months! Tuesday, 6:00 PM, Library Program Room Scrabble Play Scrabble with a tournament experienced teacher. For children in grades 4 - 8. Wednesday, 10:00 AM, Library Program Room Tales and Treasures Children going into grades kindergarten, first and second are invited to drop in for fun activities about the earth and its history. Thursday, 4:30 PM, Library Program Room Junior Critics Children in grades 4 & 5 get together to share the books they've been reading. Snacks are served. No registration. Friday 11:00 AM, Library Program Room Friday Flicks Movies based on favorite children's books for ages 2 and older.
