Still Fighting the Civil War: Author and Artist in Dialogue
Join writer David Goldfield and united states artist Brian Knep for a compelling discussion about the unhealed wounds from the American Civil War.

Boston-based media artist Knep's participatory video installation Deep Wounds, currently on view at The Aldrich, confronts the reality that the Civil War still profoundly affects the American psyche and engages not just the legacy of the War, but also the difficult processes of reconciliation that follow all human conflict.
Goldfield is the award-winning of author of sixteen books about Southern and American history, including Still Fighting the Civil War.

Free for members of The Aldrich, $10 for nonmembers, $5 seniors and students. Seating capacity is limited and first come, first served; please arrive early.

IRA Charitable Distribution Program Restored for 2013 - and for 2012 If You Act By the End of the Month
The recently passed American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 restored a program allowing those aged 70-1/2 and older to make charitable contributions to qualifying non-profits directly from an IRA. In certain circumstances, you can even apply this retroactively to minimum required IRA distributions received in 2012, if you act before the end of this month. Learn more about how these provisions of ATRA can be of benefit to you - and to the Library.
