ARTalk with American Portrait Artist John Howard Sanden
John Howard Sanden is widely recognized as one of the nation's foremost portraitists. This award-winning artist has painted African kings, world-famous businessmen, cabinet secretaries, evangelists and the forty-third President of the United States and his First Lady-all of whom have sat for this Ridgefield resident during his forty-year career. Mr. Sanden will present an illustrated talk that will include a section about a portrait's creation, from early sketches to the completed canvas. He will also give us a first-hand view of his process of painting the official portraits of President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Space is limited, so be sure to register in advance online or at 203-438-2282.
