The exhibition features 35 paintings representing the range of subject matter and technique characteristic of 17th-century painting in the Dutch Republic. Among the works shown is the Mauritshius' celebrated masterpiece Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermee.

We framed this antique Book of Hours two sided page with a Rhonda Feinman continuious corner Drawing frame. "Drawing frames have been used throughout history for framing works on paper and other small art. Their profiles are similar to larger painting frames." --R. Feinman . We matted this two sided page with a rag board matting on either side. The art is further protected with 99% UV protective Tru-Vue Museum Glass®. Restoration of the Month!
Mother and Child
This large oval photographic portrait had been mounted to acidic mount board a century ago. With age, the paper yellowed, and the mount board became brittle and cracked. Since the original oval frame was not being used, we suggested more 'close in' cropping of the figures and cooling down the burnt-sienna tone to a more 'earthy' and pleasing raw-umber in this digital restoration.

New Framers: Jason Roark (left, background) and Mark Noel (right, foreground).
We're happy to welcome two new Framers to our staff. Jason has over 10 years of framing experience and is currently studying Computer Game Design at the Academy of Art. Mark has several years experience at two California frame shops and is also a student at the Academy of Art working toward his MFA in painting.
