UMW Sunday | 8:30 and 11 am
Join us for worship this Sunday as we celebrate the work and presence of our United Methodist Women in the UUMC community of faith. Rev. Teresa G. Welborn, Superintendent of the UMC Austin District, will preach on "Upside Down and Inside Out" (Acts 3:1-11). Rev. Welborn is a graduate of Southwestern University and the Candler School of Theology. She served four congregations in the Southwest Texas Conference prior to her appointment in 2011 to the Office of Clergy Development. UUMC children are invited to gather in the Fellowship Hall during our education hour at 9:45 am to help assemble school kits for UMCOR. Join us after our late worship at Noon in the Fellowship Hall for cake and an informal reception. Youth Summer Shareholders Fundraiser Continues

The Youth Summer Shareholders fundraiser is designed to support our UUMC youth and chaperones participating in summer camps and mission trips. By becoming a shareholder, you are giving a student the opportunity to have a meaningful summer experience. The dates, locations and costs of the trips:

  • Senior High Celebration at Mo Ranch: June 21-26 (Cost is $435 per participant)
  • Reach Beyond Mission Trip: June 29-July 3 ($255)
  • Junior High Jubilee at Mo Ranch: July 5-9 ($375)

What is the Youth Ministry Summer Shareholders program?

It is a fundraiser where we invite parishioners and friends to "invest" in the youth of our church. Your investment not only supports the youth financially but you also invest in their spiritual growth as well.

How do I benefit as a shareholder?

You will receive a handwritten thank you note from one of the students attending these trips, a postcard updating you about their experiences, and you will be invited to a Shareholders Dinner on August 16 to witness first-hand what the students learned this summer.

How much does it cost?

We offer shares for $10 each. You may purchase as many shares as you would like (i.e. - 5 shares would amount to $50). When you purchase shares, you will be issued a certificate affirming your investment.

For more information, contact Heather Lee, our Youth Director, at [email protected].

Kairos Prison Ministry Cookies Needed | Wed. April 29
It's time again for the Kairos Prison Ministry team to go to the Bartlett Unit -- and we're bringing your homemade cookies and prayers with us. The cookies we deliver will go to each member of the prison population, including inmates and employees. Please deliver your cookies to the UUMC Office by the end of the day on Wed. April 29. Cookies should be between 2 inches and 2 1/2 inches in diameter and not more than 1/2 inch thick. Pray individually or as a family over the ingredients before and during mixing and as you drop them onto the cookie sheet and bake them. Ask God to use your cookies as a source of love to shine on the prisoners and staff. Bag the cooled cookies in quart-sized Zip-Locs, a dozen to a bag. Please do not use the type of bags with sliders closures as these can be used to jam door locks and will not be allowed in the prison. If you wish, you may freeze all the bags of cookies you give. For more information, contact Willie Johnson at 512-799-1362 or [email protected].

Food, Faith & Climate | Thurs. May 14, 7 to 8:30 pm
UUMC hosts our friends at Texas Impact for an evening discussion about "Food, Faith and Climate" in the Fellowship Hall. Our food choices are connected to climate change. When we sit down to dinner, we may not think about global warming, but as much as one third of the world's greenhouse gas emissions are connected to our food system. Each of us, at every meal, can make a real difference that ensures a more climate-friendly food system. The night also will include information about composting and other ideas that help us care for God's creation. For more information, contact Rev. Heather Lee, our Justice Associate, at [email protected].

LGBTQ Fellowship | Sun. May 17, Noon, Fellowship Hall
