In my 30-plus years working for FBS, a duty we have always taken very seriously is to stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies which might be of value to our clients. These Constant Contact newsletters are one avenue we have recently started to help keep you informed of these changes. One trend where we've seen a great deal of momentum lately is the utilization of "Thin Brick" products in both new construction and remodeling projects.
The product and the application technologies themselves are not new. They have been around for years. FBS was a pioneer with thin brick and we utilized it on some projects way back in 1986. Below is a current picture of the Dairy Queen that utilized thin brick for a wainscot in 1989. What is important to note is that more recent product innovations have helped improve the application process and increase the flexibility and aesthetics since "thin brick" first hit the market. The product has been in place at many commercial locations and we are experiencing a surge in popularity largely based on field performance results. It is proving to yield some very enticing benefits, including reduced overall construction timelines, increased design flexibility and reduced costs.
In this issue of Constant Contact we are including a story that highlights the overall history and the fast growing popularity of Thin Brick. I invite you to read it and hope you will
"THIN BRICK: MAKING DESIGN WAVES, DELIVERING SPEED AND REDUCING COSTS FOR ARCHITECTS, OWNERS AND DEVELOPERS"
"Thin Brick". The name sounds strange. Bricks, by definition are big, thick and heavy. "Thin" has never been a part of their description or an image you associate with them. That is, until now. "Thin Brick" refers to slim wedges of a real brick bonded to base material like concrete, metal or wood and installed in a variety of ways. These wedges of real brick are making waves among architects and in the construction and development industry and are also turning the ages-old brick making industry itself on its head.
What's the secret behind thin brick's growing popularity? It can be boiled down into one adjective: FASTER.
