August 2013
Hope you're enjoying these beautiful summer days and nights. Over the past few months, we've had hundreds of kids of all ages in and out of the Library for the summer children's programs, which wind down this weekend with storyteller Angela Klingler. Our Story Times and other activities start back up in September.

We quickly filled July's Zentangle session, with a substantial waiting list, so we're bringing it back on Tuesday, August 20. Call the Library or check the calendar and our Blog for details and latest updates.

We would love to hear from you. Let us know what you think, and what you want. We have an online suggestion box
-- and of course we're always available by phone, email  or face-to-face at the Library.

If you know someone who might enjoy our newsletter, please take a moment to forward this email to them. Thanks.

See you at the Library!

Celebrate Summer with Storyteller Angela Klingler, Saturday, August 3 at 10:30 am
Storytelling Join us for a one-hour storytelling program of wonder tales and folktales, megafauna geomyth, and northeastern woodland Native American legends. Storyteller Angela Klingler will regale participants with tales of turtle, woodchuck, rabbit, fox and salamander, as well as their habitat and fellow cast of creatures.

The program includes a participatory circle story retold with puppets and props, and stories enhanced with elf frame drum, cedar flute and rattle instruments. This is the final event of our Summer Dig Into Reading Program, much of which has been generously funded by the Friends of the Library.
Worm Wednesdays Work Out Well
Worm Wednesdays Everyone was pleased with results at the final Worm Wednesday gathering on July 31. Over the past six weeks, youngsters have been studying and tending the worms as part of the Dig Into Summer Reading program at the Library

On the final day, the kids checked on the worm bins' moisture levels, fed the worms, and gave them one last inspection before saying farewell. The worms, and their compost, will now be living at Cornucopia and South Meadow Middle School.
Do You Doodle?  Try Zentangle on Aug 20
Zentangle Looking for something fun and relaxing to do this summer? Need a little stress relief? Why not try Zentangle! July's session was filled to the brim, so we're bringing it back on Tuesday, August 20 at 7 pm. Join Susanne Binnie, artist and teacher, for this Zentangle workshop at the Peterborough Town Library.

This workshop is free, thanks to the Friends of the Library, but spaces are limited. To sign up, you can visit or call the Library at 603-924-8040, or send an email to library@townofpeterborough.usLearn more about Zentangle at www.zentangle.com.

The Art of Fielding

The Art of Fielding

Chad Harbach's debut novel is as much about literary fiction as it is about baseball. Written with intelligence and filled with the tenderness of youth, The Art of Fielding is an expansive, warm-hearted novel about ambition and its limits, about family and friendship and love, and about commitment - to oneself and to others.
