4th Grade Walk for Water: Update and Invitation
A team of Salmon Bay 4th graders raised nearly $1500 for people around the world who do not have access to clean drinking water! Participants completed a 5k walk at the Seattle Center, carrying 1 gallon or 5 gallon containers of water. It was eye-opening for all of the team members to realize that young girls their age spend their days carrying 5 gallon containers many miles twice a day. Many thanks to all those who contributed! Daniel Bagley Elementary has invited the Salmon Bay community to attend an informal potluck on June 8th from 5-7 pm at the school (7821 Stone Way, 98103) to meet Salva Dut, protagonist of the inspirational book, A Long Walk to Water. Dut will describe his life as a "lost boy," and share how perseverance saved his life and helped him achieve his dreams as an adult.
