When we ask, Salmon Bay delivers! Last week this was true in ways large (donations for family in need) and small (heaps of heart-shaped lollipops). This community never ceases to amaze us with its compassion and generosity.
Kudos to Stephanie Zavadil for tallying enough Ballard Market receipts (while answering WEP phone calls no less!) to earn FOSB $985!
Three cheers for Megan Helmer who jumped in to help with auction graphics!
A shout out to Barb Jochum, Renee Palermo, Danielle Steele and Megan Fiorito, volunteer tour guides, who stepped in at the last minute to answer questions and show prospective parents around the building.
Thank you doesn't quite capture our gratitude for the nearly 200 hours WEP volunteers donate each Friday.Stop by the bulletin board outside the Volunteer Coordinator office to read students express in their own words how WEP has enriched their winters.

Save the date for our Spring Book Fair , March 21st - 25th. Three cheers for Breean Kay who has volunteered to co-chair this event! Now we just need a co-leader to work with her... could it be you? Email Jodi if you are interested in helping plan this annual event that benefits our school library.

Directory Discussion: Electronic vs. PaperFOSB produces a school directory each year and provides a printed copy to each family. We spend approximately $1,000 to produce the directory and offset additional costs through ad sales. We're opening a conversation about whether we should continue providing a printed copy or move toward an electronic (PDF) version. Please take this five question survey about your preferred format.

Walk-in to Support Our Schools Before the bell on Thursday, February 18th, FOSB invites parents and students to join with staff to celebrate our school and share a vision for the future. We'll begin gathering at 7:45 am on the front steps. When the bell rings, we'll walk into the school together. Don't forget to wear red! Watch Facebook for more details. #ReclaimOurSchools FOSB ValentinesFOSB is feeling the love for:

Please join the Parent Information Exchange (PIE) Committee on Tuesday, February 23, from 7:00-8:30pm in the cafeteria/auditorium for our next parent education event. Jenni Pertuset will present "Getting Out The Door: Winning Your Child's Cooperation"
See what's behind your child's behavior and what's needed from you - not through "tips and tricks," but with a deeper understanding of emotion and instinct. You'll leave with the power to inspire cooperation rather than resistance, making parenting easier throughout the day.
Geared toward Elementary ages but maybe useful for middle school families too.
