Seen in the Hallway

Elementary students gathered for our annual Lantern Festival this morning. The lanterns were beautiful and the singing lovely to hear. A special thank you to the volunteers who helped assemble lanterns, light candles, set up tables, clean up and serve as fire marshals. We couldn't do it without you!
K-5 Play
This year's K-5 play will be a double bill.

Our main play is titled "Putting on Romeo and Juliet." It's a hilarious parody play concept developed by our 2015 play-writing group last spring that honors the creative chaos we all love about putting on a play and includes a great cast of silly and fun characters!

Our second play is called "House of Cards." It is a thoughtful play that deals with the negative effects of cliques and power dynamics in schools.

We have great roles for beginners and strong actors alike! To sign up, fill out the registration form found here.

School Directories

Each family should have received one copy of our  school directory this week. Some students are bringing their copy home today so please check backpacks and school bags.

Kudos to You

December was another month that reinforced our conviction that Salmon Bay families are the best.

The generosity of this community supplied holiday gifts to a dozen families - families in our school and in the community at large.

Countless hours of volunteer time made special projects (e.g. hand-sewn stuffies, marketplace, lanterns) possible.

Thank you for your continued support of Salmon Bay.

We look forward to seeing all of you again in 2016!

Winter Enrichment Program (WEP)
If your student hasn't returned the permission slip packet for his/her program yet, make sure it comes back to school on Monday, January 4th. Late paperwork may impact your student's ability to participate in the first week of WEP.

Salmon Bay's Winter Enrichment Program requires lots of volunteer support. Please check out our current list of volunteer needs and consider how you can help.

Leadership Workshops
Lydia Simpson, a former Salmon Bay student and current Nathan Hale senior, will be offering five leadership workshops on Wednesdays from January 13th through February 10th. This is a free opportunity for middle school students to learn leadership, event planning, and communication skills essential to solving problems and affecting change. To reserve you space, sign up in the Volunteer Coordinator office or email Kristina.

8th Grade Photos/Quotes If you have an original photo you would like included in the yearbook, email it to Glyde
