Counselor's Corner
Conversations are one of the most powerful tools parents can use to connect with-and protect-their kids. But when tackling some of life's tougher topics, especially those about drugs and alcohol, just figuring out what to say can be a challenge.

Check out this parent tool kit and this information from children's hospital for help getting those conversations going with children of all ages.

It's Bike To School Month!

Two Minute Survey

Salmon Bay is gearing up for some investments that will increase the number of families walking, riding and carpooling to school. Please take this short and fast survey to let us know how you currently commute and what would make you more likely to walk, bike or carpool.

There were 90 bikes on our racks this morning! Keep up the great work!

Dust Off Day

Stop by this afternoon to get your bike ready for a month of riding. Fill the tires, check the breaks, wash it 'till it shines, and then give it a little something extra at the decoration station. 3:15-4:30.

Bike to School Day

Bike to School day is Wednesday, May 6th. Ride your bike to school and park in the alley where friendly greeters, treats and stickers will be waiting.

Fuel Free Fridays

All remaining Fridays in May, we encourage you to be fuel free. Those who bike, walk or carpool should enter through the alley for recognition Friday May 8, 15, 22, and 29.

After School Drama Advisory Committee

On May 4th the drama committee and Tara Kaine will be hosting their first ever After School Drama Student Advisory Committee meeting.

We are excited to invite you to join this round table discussion about our 2015-2016 Afterschool Drama programming. This programming is for you, the K-8 students of Salmon Bay, and we want it to reflect the interests and the unique and special personality of our student body. To do that we would love your input!

The goal of the Student Advisory discussions is to create a dialogue between the Drama Committee and the students it serves, to ensure that your voices are heard as we make decisions about what classes and plays to offer in the coming years.

In these meetings, we will be discussing your thoughts about:
  • Drama and theatre classes that would interest you.
  •  Favorite plays, stories, books, genres, and themes (things you might want to see as a play one day - maybe not this year).
  • Ideas about scheduling rehearsals and classes (sports and other conflicts that plays hard to commit to).

If you are a Salmon Bay K-8 student, you are invited to attend. This meeting will be held from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. in the Salmon Bay Auditorium on Monday, May 4th. We hope you will join us! Thank you so much for your interest and support of our after school drama activities.
