FOSB |
Upcoming Legislative Town Halls
This Saturday, March 21st, is the Greater Seattle Education Town Hall at Nathan Hale, sponsored by Washington Education Association and to be attended by all of the previous weekends lawmakers as well as many more. See the event web page for details.
The FOSB Legislative Committee implores you to take advantage of this opportunity to express your opinion about education issues in the middle of this critical legislative session!
Next Meeting
Our next FOSB Board meeting is Thursday April 9th, 7-9 in the school library.
Interested in FOSB Leadership?
Consider the opportunities:
- Treasurer (must have elementary kids)
- Secretary
- Co-Chair (must have middle school kids)
- Director
Job Descriptions can be found here. FOSB has tasked a Board Development Committee to work on board composition and this committee is studying the finer details around roles and job descriptions.
Thinking about joining the FOSB Board as a director? Our bylaws say that a Director is a trustee of FOSB. Along with other Directors and Officers, each Director is responsible for oversight of all FOSB activities, especially those involving the organization's governance and finances. So, Directors are working members of the FOSB board of directors who attend most, but preferably all, FOSB meetings throughout the school year, including the annual retreat. Generally, FOSB meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 7:00-9:00 pm.
- Directors stay apprised of issues and discussions before the board, providing consistency that allows them to participate and contribute more fully.
- Directors share voting privileges with the officers when consensus has not been reached by the FOSB membership and board.
If you are interested in joining FOSB leadership in these capacities, please email secretary Mary Ullrich anytime before April 9th. We look forward to working with you!
