Auditions will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. March 16 and 18. Callbacks will be March 20. Spring Drama Classes

There are several drama class offerings this spring. For full details and registration paperwork, please visit the Drama Committee's website.

Mondays and Wednesdays: Playwriting

(4th/5th Grade)

Everybody has a story to tell. Through acting exercises, we will explore different themes, characters, environments, and types of conflicts that are present in students' lives. Students will have the opportunity to write individual scenes with well-defined characters, an intriguing plot, and a conclusion that ties it all together. Using ideas from the group's work, we will work together to write a full length play that may be produced at Salmon Bay next winter by K-4 students. Laura Knote, will teach this five week course which begins on April 27th and is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Space for this class is limited to 14 students. The student activity fee is $100.

Wednesdays: Theatre Tech

(4th - 8th Grade)

Salmon Bay students interested in deepening their understanding of and experience with theatre tech, including lighting, sound, and stage management are encouraged to sign up for this class taught by Michael Massey. Classes begin April 1st and culminate with running tech for the Middle School play, "Holes." Class size is limited to 12 students. The student activity fee is $100.

Thursdays: Monologue/Scene Study

(6th-8th grade priority, then 4th/5th)

Monologues can be the trickiest thing to master as an actor. This class, taught by Laura Knote, will give seasoned performers a chance to deepen their skills and newer performers a chance to become more comfortable developing a character and being in the moment.  Registration is open to 6-8 grade Salmon Bay students at this time; on March 17 we will open remaining spaces to 4-5 grade students. Classes begin April 2nd and lasts for 8 weeks. The student activity fee is $100.

"Jazzcats" Jazz Band

Enrollment is now open for the spring session of the "Jazzcats" jazz band, led by instrumental music teacher Mark Oesterle. This band is open to all 4th and 5th grade instrumental musicians. Practice is held on Friday afternoons from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, The spring session begins March 6th and runs until May 29th (no jazz on April 17th). Registration forms are vailable in the volunteer coordinator's office.
