This week we are continuing introductions of some of our support staff members.
Amy Petek says... Hi! I am the new Speech Language Therapist here at Salmon Bay. I moved from New Jersey to Seattle, and have been working as a Speech Language Pathologist for the last 7 years. I am married and have a beautiful 1 year old daughter. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, going to the movies, shopping, traveling, good conversations, and most of all, spending quality time with my family and friends. I am thrilled to be here amongst you all, and I hope to support the Salmon Bay community with the best of my ability!
Megan Ratcliffe writes... I currently work in the inclusion Special Ed program in the 7th and 8th Olympics team. I have worked at, walked around, talked about, sat amongst, sang in joy, stood in patience, spoken with, written for, celebrated because of, defended alot of and promoted endlessly the specialness of Salmon Bay for 14 years as a parent, former Volunteer Coordinator and Instructional Asst. For all of those 14 years, I have appreciated and enjoyed the people of Salmon Bay. I have worked in many fields in my life and I appreciate the Salmon Bay staff immensely as a parent and as a colleague. The staff consistently strive to do better all the time, to reach one more child, and to help make a difference for one more student. They inspire me. Outside of school, I have been a wedding coordinator for 9 years now and have coordinated over 200 weddings. I have never experienced a bridezilla and actually hate the term. I love what comes together at weddings. Brides can be similar to middle school students. The expectations and pressures of the experience can be overwhelming for both and when you approach them with kindness, love and humor, you are able to help them reach their goal.
Nancy Gruber shared... I've worn lots of 'hats' at Salmon Bay over the 20 years I've been here as a parent and staff member...and have loved them all! The grounds of the school and the hallways hold many happy memories for me of working together -students, staff, and families- to build a community and school from the ground up. I am especially proud to be a part of our inclusion program here at SB.
