NEW SERMON SERIES! Riding Out the Storms: Sermons on Suffering from the Book of Job

Hello Hope Des Moines!
One of the questions I hear more than any other is, "how can I get connected at Hope Des Moines?" Last weekend, we share a great opportunity coming up to do just that! Our next "Group Launch" event is coming up on Oct. 2. If you're interested in joining a men's, women's, or couples Life Group, or even starting your own,
we invite you to contact our discipleship director Amanda Neppl and get signed up for Group Launch! The reality is, life was never meant to be lived alone, especially when the storms come.
As I write this letter, I look outside and am surrounded by grey clouds, rain and thunder . Storms are a normal part of our lives; there's no doubt about it - in the weather, but also in life. It always rains doesn't it? Sometimes in our lives there are seasons when it seems like it pours - with pain, disappointment, difficulty, stress or whatever it may be. Storms are an inevitable reality in our lives. No wonder Jesus says, "In this world you will have trouble..."(John 16:33).
This weekend, we kick off a brand new series that's a bit "out of the box" when it comes to anything we've done before. Over the next few weeks we're going to be digging into the book of Job, a seldom-discussed book from the Old Testament that is actually all about weathering the storms of life and learning to trust God in deeper ways. There is no doubt the themes we'll talk about are applicable to all of us, because none of us are immune. The best part is, Jesus doesn't leave us alone in the storms. After he says that we will indeed have trouble, he reassures us "....but take heart, I have overcome the world!" ( John 16:33). We have a hope in the midst of the storm that is worth sharing with a world that is desperate for it! You won't want to miss this weekend!
By the way, as you make your weekend worship plans, I would encourage you to check out our new Saturday night service at 5:00 pm! It has the same music and preaching as Sunday morning, but in a relaxed, fun, coffee-shop environment. As our Sunday services continue to fill up (praise God!), what a great opportunity for those of you with flexibility in your schedule to open up some more seats on Sunday mornings for those visiting for the first time!
Can't wait to see you all this weekend! Bring a friend and we'll see you there!
