There's an App for That: Bringing Faith to Daily Life
Making the Most of Time
 Pastor's Preview:
Hi, Hope folks!

Taste of Hope - our annual all-church midsummer open house celebration - is just one day away, and there's something for everyone!

It all starts tomorrow (Saturday) at 8:00 am with a 5K run/walk starting in the church parking lot. At 9:00 am, there's a Youth Fun Run and a Fishing Derby. Then, from 1:00-9:15 pm, the church will be wide open with Taste of Hope activities for all ages: free food carts, games, make & take art, a talent show and - to cap off the Jesus party - fireworks to praise the Lord at 9:15 pm!

If you're concerned about the heat outside, there will be plenty of activities inside, too, where the predicted high will be 72 degrees!

Wrapped inside the middle of Taste of Hope, of course, will be our two come-as-you-are services in the Worship Center on Saturday at 3:00 & 5:00 pm. Yes, we're adding an extra service again this year to assure that there's plenty of room for you, and for all!

I'll preach at these two Saturday services on "Making the Most of Time" based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-11. You'll hear uplifting music by the Vacation Bible School children (all kids who attended VBS over the past two weeks are encouraged to take part in one of these services), as well as an original musical offering by our newest part-time worship leader, Matt Baird! Invite your friends who don't have a church home to come and get a "taste" of the good things God is doing at Lutheran Church of Hope!

On Sunday, Pastors Jeremy or Richard will preach at our regularly scheduled services at 8:00, 8:30, 9:15 & 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Those Sunday services - the day after Taste of Hope - are a great opportunity to breathe in the peaceful presence of God's Spirit!

It's good to be the church, and we have much to celebrate and praise God for this weekend! Come and see!

Peace,
Mike Housholder
Pastor. Preacher. Olympics Dude.

P.S.- Please join me in saying "thank you" to the thousands of volunteers (and our amazing staff leaders, too) who helped out with Vacation Bible School (see photos here and here!) at Hope over the past two weeks, pointing approximately 6,000 children to the love of Jesus at our West Des Moines campus ... plus another 2,000 kids at Hope's four other campuses around the Des Moines area! I love this church, and your willingness to let your light shine so brightly for so many kids in this community!
