Last summer, wildfires in the Southwest quickly moved through the area near Sierra Vista, Arizona and among the many acres of grassland and homes destroyed was a vinyl fence installed by Stan's Fence. The vinyl fence lined the perimeter of a new real estate development that fortunately had not yet begun home construction. In the aftermath of the wildfire lay a completely melted vinyl fence now worthless. Neither Scott Grindy, owner of Stan's Fence, nor the developer's insurance company, were about to install another vinyl fence in an area prone to wildfires.
Earlier that year, we contacted Scott regarding an installation opportunity for a customer in his area who had purchased our Steel Board Fence product. He was immediately interested in a sample, realizing the Steel Board Fence was clearly unique. While the installation opportunity fell through, Scott kept his sample. He showed it to the owner of the Sierra Vista real estate development and they both agreed it was the perfect solution. The only concern was color and length of posts. The owner wanted tan with shorter posts that could be set 36" deep. (Normally the Steel Board Fence has 100" posts set at a depth of 43".) Since the total linear feet required to complete the project met our minimum for custom orders, we were able to create a custom order of the fence for Stan's that included 90 inch posts with a textured tan powder coat finish exactly matched to his color sample.

Approximately 3 months later, the order was delivered and ready for installation. "The installation went very well," said Scott. "The posts on 10-foot centers allowed us to move quickly and make good money." The custom order for shorter posts and the textured tan powder coat finish worked perfectly for the development. The owner is pleased with the outcome of the project. "We are so happy with the tan in the textured finish. It looks gorgeous. Scott intends to continue offering the Steel Board Fence product to his customers. He believes steel is the only way to go, especially in his area where brush fires are common. "PVC and other plastic fences do not hold up," said Scott. "The Steel Board Fence is solid and looks great! We will be spreading the word!"
