Harrington Gift to Build, Sustain Albion Ties
For Judy, ’86, and Michael, ’85, Harrington, the memories of selfless parents and a top-flight education at Albion College have spurred them to make a significant seven-figure gift to the school that has meant so much to them over the years.
The Harringtons’ gift consists of two parts that focus on specific aspects of college life. The first is to launch a residential community building initiative that will bring faculty and staff closer to the students; the other will provide financial support for students who need help continuing their education at Albion.

Double Alumni Meet at Albion
Tony, ’87, and Kristin, ’89, Bertoia (above, from 1986 and 2014) met like many couples do: at the gym. In this case, it was Albion’s gym, while they were students.
“I broke the ice and introduced myself,” Tony says.
The couple married, and now their son, Nick Bertoia, ’16, attends Albion. The Bertoias make it back to campus often for events like Homecoming and track meets.
Tony and Kristin are a great example of double alumni – couples who meet as students and go on to get married. Albion has plenty of examples of these Briton couples. See our recent Facebook post for lots of good examples, and see our Flickr gallery of entries from over the years.

Mike Turner, ’69, Still Helping Any Way He Can
Mike Turner, ’69, came to Albion to play a little basketball, maybe some football, and study physical education.
“I thought I’d get the combination of athletics and academics,” he said.
He did more than that, staying on at Albion to earn the distinction as the College’s longest-serving coach in any sport. Now he bring his considerable knowledge and contacts back to Albion, working part time in the Institutional Advancement Office.

Melanie Fodera Looks Back on Equestrian Experience
Melanie Fodera, '16, started at Albion College knowing almost nothing about being an equestrian. But she knew she loved horses, and that was enough to get her started. In fact, Albion's equestrian coaches were looking for students just like her.
Now Melanie reflects on her four years of equestrian activity on the Equestrian Center's blog, Briton Bits (And Saddles and Reins).
"In the past four years, I met incredible friends, gained great self-awareness, and had wonderful opportunities," Melanie writes in her post, "Beginning the Dance."
"I’m hooked on horses and they will always remain a part of my life."
