Albion to Become Key Hiking, Biking Hub

Thanks to a partnership between the City of Albion and Albion College, a one-mile recreational trail will wind its way through the community and help make Albion a hub for several state and national trail systems.

The Albion River Trail Expansion Project is part of a statewide $28 million recommendation from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund board of directors and could be ready for public use by the end of 2016.

MacInnes Earns National Award for Doing What He Does Best

MacInnes was named the 2015 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching Michigan Professor of the Year. He was honored at an awards luncheon at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and then with the evening reception at the Folger.

It's all a bit much for the Philadelphia native, who insists he hasn't done anything more than any other professor at Albion would do.

Donors Take Giving Tuesday to Next Level

It's safe to say that Giving Tuesday has already become a holiday-season tradition at Albion College. For the third straight year, the College participated in and rallied around the nationwide day of giving, which follows the commerce-focused Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

And the effort clearly resonates with alumni and friends of the College, who again increased their giving from the prior year.

Students Adopt Families for Holiday Season

Each year, Albion College's Student Volunteer Bureau (SVB) makes sure area families have something to celebrate during Christmas. This season, 10 Briton athletic teams joined SVB to help out - adopting dozens of families, wrapping presents, and delivering more than 150 gifts.

Albion students work with Albion Interfaith Ministries to get family information.

"Albion College can really make a big difference, especially when we work together like this," says Autumn Bernicky, SVB president. "We can't help every family, but for those that we do adopt, I like to think we have helped make their holiday merry and bright!"

Albion Alumni Survey In Your Inbox

The Albion College Career and Internship Center, along with the Registrar, is administering the HEDS Alumni Survey, asking Albion alumni about the quality and impact of their undergraduate educational experiences. These include co-curricular activities such as internships, study abroad, and community service.

The survey should take you less than 12 minutes to complete, will provide the College with useful information to help us make more informed decisions, and communicate with others about an education at Albion College. The survey is based on the Association of American Colleges & Universities Essential Learning Outcomes and Wabash National Study findings.

Only alumni from 2005-06 and 2010-11 will be sent surveys, since this is a 5 and 10-year out survey. As a small token of our appreciation for completing, respondents will be sent an Albion College Alumni window sticker.

Look for the survey in your email!
