Joe Silvestri, '15, Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Joe Silvestri, '15, the long stick midfielder for Albion College's first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship team in men's lacrosse, added to the Britons' tradition of academic success when he was recently named as one of the recipients of the NCAA's postgraduate scholarships.
Silvestri, a native of Novi who prepped at Detroit Catholic Central, will receive a one-time scholarship of $7,500 to help fund his education at the University of Toledo Medical School.
"The Albion environment breeds success and being a student-athlete taught me the skills necessary on how to be a resilient and compassionate person," Silvestri says.

College Tallies Major Fundraising Gains
There's always a certain buzz in the air as fall semester approaches. At Albion, that buzz has become a deeper momentum on a number of fronts: the largest first-year class of the decade, a new hotel project downtown and, through the continued generosity of donors, a significant increase in giving to the College.
The College's Institutional Advancement division raised $11,618,205 for the 2015 fiscal year, which ended June 30. That figure includes funds from gifts, pledges and deferred pledges, and overall the total represents a 56 percent increase - or $4,223,743 to be exact - from the 2014 fiscal-year giving total.

Albion Volleyball Chronicles Preseason
Costa Rica Trip
The Albion College volleyball team recently returned from a preseason training and service trip in Costa Rica, "and I think we represented the program extremely well," according to Kristin Yeager, '16. Along with practices, the weeklong experience included a visit to a center for underprivileged children, a whitewater rafting trip, a zipline adventure, and a match with the Costa Rica under-20 national team.
Be Part of the Winning Team
Albion College expects to welcome more than 450 first-year students, the largest entering class since 2009. A major factor was the involvement of alumni who referred 150 of those new students. Be part of an upcoming success story by referring a high school student who should know about Albion as part of the college search process. The Admission office will take it from there!
