Students Love New Squirrel Shirts
Albion students and alumni have a lot of affection for the black squirrels on campus.
Thats why Albions student marketing committee, a group of students who serve as a marketing brain trust for ideas, put a black squirrel on the front of this years Admission promotional t-shirt.
The idea, one of many from the committee, caught the attention of John Hille, Albions interim vice president for enrollment management. The shirts will be given to prospective students.
If a prospective student visited already, they know the black squirrels are a distinctive part of our campus. If not, I hoped it would make them curious, says Hille. The unexpected can be a powerful attention grabber and conversation starter.
The shirts are a hot item on campus.
People who don't have shirts wish that they did, says Alex Carey, 16, member of the student marketing committee. Albions marketing department has given many away to current students, including several for an Instagram-based photo contest.
