Alumna Takes Love of Wine,
Games to Kickstarter
Audra Quinn, '03, is looking to kick-start her love for wine and social gatherings with a new game.
Quinn, a digital writer and editor for American Funds, and two teammates from Pepperdine University are set to launch UNCORKED!, a "hilarious game of wine, wit and wordplay," on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. With two days left, the project is $854 ahead of its $25,000 goal.
UNCORKED! is a social wine sampling game where players "write entertaining tasting notes while sampling new wines." Audra came up with the idea while wine-tasting with family in Traverse City, Mich.
Audra pitched the idea for UNCORKED! in her M.B.A. entrepreneurship class at Pepperdine University, and her team (including Lars Thorn in the wine bottle outfit) won Pepperdine's business plan competition.
Now that UNCORKED! has met its Kickstarter goal ahead of the February 23 deadline, Audra says her team plans to put the game in retail stores, tasting rooms, and gift shops after fulfilling the Kickstarter orders. "We would also like to build out the business to include a wine club and regular events," she says.
"I have an awesome team and we have a ton of ideas for more games," Audra says. "I am not sure I'll ever be able to do this full-time, but it's a really fun, creative outlet."
