Dr. Mauri Ditzler Receives Dynamic
Albion Welcome

Mauri Ditzler

A British Eighth fanfare set the tone for Albion's enthusiastic welcome of Mauri Ditzler, who will become the College's 16th president in July 2014. The current president of Monmouth College, Ditzler was a faculty member and department chair at the College of Holy Cross, and has held executive administration positions with his alma mater Wabash College and at Millikin University.

"When someone asks me what makes Albion distinct, I will give them an answer that I believe in, and that you believe in," Ditzler said. "Together we're going to find those answers and uncover those paths, and build that distinction."

Two Sisters, Two Unique Experiences

Two Sisters

Two sisters, two sororities, two majors, two unique experiences -- that explains Haley, '14, and Ali, '16, Hill, a legacy connection that has helped the sisters grow closer and take advantage of a busy campus life.

When her sister was looking at colleges, Haley made subtle moves to get her sister here. "I put in a good word fairly often around the Admission Office when I worked there," Haley says. "I knew Ali would enjoy the environment, so I made sure she applied, but the rest was up to her!"

Albion Earns 35th MIAA Football Championship

Albion College completed its undefeated run through the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association by scoring a 34-31 victory over Hope College at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 16.

There were a number of notable statistics to come out of the victory. Head coach Craig Rundle gained his 100th win at Albion and the 157th of his career. Albion, owners of a league-best 35 MIAA championships, made their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Albion’s season ended with Saturday’s 63-7 first-round playoff loss at North Central College, an Illinois school that entered the game ranked No.  4 nationally. The Britons concluded the season with an 8-3 record, 6-0 in league play.

Caitlin McClorey, '15: A Business Plan in France and a Plan for Law School

Caitlin McClorey

Just a junior at Albion College, Caitlin McClorey, '15, continues to build her résumé with practical experiences that will make her marketable, whether she chooses to enter the workforce or pursue law school upon graduation.

Fresh off a summer internship at Valassis, a marketing company headquartered in Livonia, McClorey is among a group of students in the Gerstacker Institute who traveled to Paris in October for a week of intensive work on business plans with students from École Supérieure De Vente (SDV), a French business school.

Nine Days Until Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

There are nine days leading up to Giving Tuesday on 12/3/13. Giving Tuesday is a national movement to celebrate the act of giving back to an organization that has meaning for you. This year marks the first year Albion College is participating. Show your Briton pride on Tuesday, December 3, and help Albion College reach its goal of 123 donors giving back to our students (Hint: 123 donors in honor of 12/3)! Use hash-tags #GivingTuesday or #BritsGive in the memo section when making your gift on 12/3.

Every gift, no matter the size or designation, makes an impact on our current and future students. Follow in our students’ footsteps of giving back throughout the year and help support their future.

For questions visit Albion’s Giving Tuesday webpage, or contact Maria Carr, associate director of annual giving, at or 517/629-0410.
