Take your family out for some fall fun!
Dear Family Travelers:

Sure you're busy. But take the time to enjoy fall! Remember, it's a long stretch between Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

You've got lots of choices-pumpkin patches and apple orchards, historic sites and even the beach now that the crowds are gone.

Wherever you go this fall, support Dine out for No Kid Hungry and help end childhood hunger. Thousands of restaurants are participating and all you need to do is donate $1.

The Taking the Kids Guide to Fall Fun is packed with ideas. Here are five:
  • My partner Family Travel Forum offers a U-Pick-'EM guide to apple picking around the country, whether in  the Northeast or New England, the Midwest or Washington state. Just think about what you are going to make with all of those apples once you've got them!
  • Race the kids through a giant corn maze, like at Huber's Orchard & Winery near Bloomington, IN.
  • Head to a National Historic Site or National Park-you have hundreds to choose from. (Remember fourth graders and their families are free all this  school year  at all national parks and historic sites.
  • Opt for a family-friendly fall festival. In California, Half Moon Bay prides itself on being the Pumpkin Capitol of the world and struts its stuff with its annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival Oct 9-18.
  • Explore San Diego. Kids are free all October at museums, the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and more than 100 kids free deals .
Have fun!
