Permeable Paver Installation Continues in City Lots
The City is replacing asphalt in several City lots with permeable pavers to treat storm water and urban runoff. Work has started at Stevens Park and will begin at the Westside Community Center later this month. The pavers capture and treat polluted storm water by allowing runoff to slowly soak into the ground. Pollutants like oil and other auto fluids, metals, and nutrients are prevented from flowing into storm drains that lead directly to creeks and oceans untreated. Read More...

De La Vina and Figueroa Intersection Improvements
The City has started construction on pedestrian safety improvements at the busy intersection of De La Vina and Figueroa Streets. Construction is scheduled to continue through July. New Growth Management Program Adopted
Council recently adopted an ordinance to implement the City's Nonresidential Growth Management Program. New commercial additions will be reviewed under this ordinance. Much of the ordinance is similar to the City's Development Plan Ordinance, but key changes include a new Traffic Management Strategy with limitations on additions for properties located outside of the downtown area.
