New Access Fee on Business Licenses A new state law will require all businesses to pay a $1 state disability access fee with business license applications and renewals. Local businesses will see the new fee on their business license renewal notices for licenses issued beginning January 1. The fees will be used to increase disability access and compliance with construction-related accessibility requirements and to promote compliance with federal and state disability laws.

Breakwater Reopens After Repairs The breakwater has opened after the final nine panels at the west end of the breakwater have been constructed. This project will provide protection from coastal storms for decades to come.

Los Baños Pool Water Filter Improvements Los Baños pool was closed for a few days earlier this month for filter replacements. The internal sensors were inspected and 416 bags of new silica sand were added back into the three pool filters. The new sand has already improved water clarity and overall water quality and circulation for swimmers.

Don't Forget to Recycle Your Christmas Tree! Prepare trees for recycling by removing ornaments, tinsel, and plastic or metal stands. Trees with fake snow will NOT be accepted. You may place your tree next to your greenwaste bin on collection day or bring it to the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station (4430 Calle Real). If you do not have a greenwaste bin, put the tree on the curb and call MarBorg for pickup at 963-1852.
