You may feel the same way as me by wanting to relax, enjoy the weather and spend time with family and friends. Let's do!
Want to have some fun? How about dropping by our member and potential member mixer on Thursday, June 12th? It will be from 5:30-7:30 at Infuzion Lounge, 9999 S. Mingo.
We can also take time to review the
results of our fundraising efforts so far this year, and shift our plans and strategies to maximize our efforts. There are several webinars scheduled during the next couple of months. In August we are offering the AFP CFRE course with fundraising training and a work sessions for those who want to apply for the Certified Fundraising Executive application and exam. We will not have lunch meetings in July or August, so please make note of our next one on Thursday, September 4th, at 11:30 am.
Our National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon and Conference is set for Friday, November 7th! The conference training sessions will be held in the morning.

CFRE WORKSHOP
August 29th & 30th
Bailey Education Foundation Conference Center
We are excited to present the "new and improved" CFRE Workshop again this year. This years' workshop begins at one of two luncheons, your choice of a location in Tulsa on August 15th or Bartlesville on August 8, and the remainder of the workshop at Bailey Education Foundation in Owasso on Friday, August 29th and Saturday morning, August 30th. Our focus this year is not only preparation for the Certified Fund Raising Exam, but will also include strategies for completing the application. Following the CFRE Workshop, a study group will be meeting regularly prior to taking the test during the October 18-December 6, 2014 testing period. Applications to take the exam will be due September 30, 2014. Please visit the website, http://www.cfre.org for testing dates and locations.
The revised AFP CFRE Review Course offers development professionals an opportunity to review the main components of a complete fundraising program. It is an intensive two-day program that provides an overview of skills, techniques and program components based on fundraising experience at the five-year level. Unlike earlier versions of the course, the revised course is organized around the domains of the CFRE examination rather than specific fundraising strategies. In addition, the participant manual will contain test taking tips and sample exam questions provided by CFRE International.
Participants receive:
* Participant manual * Approximately 14 hours of instruction (for which you will receive credit on your application) * A certificate of completion at the end of the course New and Improved Topics include 8 modules: * Why Philanthropy? An Overview of Fundraising & Its Concepts * Current & Prospective Donor Research * Marketing and Communications for Fundraising & Development * Developing a Comprehensive Solicitation Program * Building and Sustaining Relationships * Securing the Gift * Volunteer Involvement * Management * Accountability There is a separate application and fee for the CFRE Exam which must be received by CFRE International at least 2 months (60 days) prior to the exam date. Application is available at CFRE International at www.cfre.org or 703-820-5555.

How Asking for Time Can Turn into Much More for Your Organization!
Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa made news this past week as they had a special volunteer helping them distribute meals! This publicity was right on the heels of their re-branding that happened in the beginning of May. This is a great example of how to get the new look of your cause in front of community leaders and the public by simply asking for time. You never know what such visibility could turn into! Great jobs Meals on Wheels team! (Check job listings for an open position at this organization)

Mentoring Moment
A Two-Way Learning Experience
 | Kate Davis |
We Are Looking For A Few Good Mentors (and mentees of course)!!
Thanks to those of you who signed up at last month's meeting to be a part of this year's mentoring program. We still have plenty of matches we need to make, so you still have plenty of time to participate either as a mentor, a mentee, or BOTH, in this year's program.
Sign up sheets will be available at the meeting on Thursday, but you may also email Kate Davis at katedavis53@gmail.com or call/text her at 918-520-3159. We all have so much to offer each other and this is the perfect program in which to share your knowledge or to learn something new.
If you have questions, please contact Kate. Hope to hear from you soon!!

Build Your Bookshelf
The One Thing
 | The One Thing |
At last month's luncheon, guest Larry Hostetler of AFP International reminded us of the many fantastic resources available on the AFP International website, including Action University, which synopsizes books related to fundraising and beyond. A book recently reviewed in Action University is The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, which asks, "what's the one thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?" This is obviously not a book on the topic of fundraising, but who wouldn't want to know the answer to that question? Action University, located under the professional development tab on the AFP International website, is where to go find written resources both directly and indirectly related to our job as fundraisers, but that without a doubt can help us be better development professionals.
