Dean's Update: The Libraries looks to Grants and New Sources of Funding

The Libraries is a service group on campus - and in the new University accounting system, that makes us an expense for income generating areas such Drexel colleges and schools. We carefully manage our given budget to achieve annual goals that focus largely on improving the student academic experience. As we seek to be an innovative model for mid-sized academic libraries - through expanding our mission and programs - we have started to explore external funding so that we can extend our impact.

Authors Event 2014

Libraries to Recognize 43 Authors and 12 Editors at Next Week's Authors Event  

On Wednesday, March 11th the University Libraries and Office of the Provost will celebrate the 55 members of Drexel's faculty and professional staff who published 60 books during the 2014 calendar year. This annual event is open to the public and a RSVP is requested. The event will be held in Gerri C. LeBow Hall from 4 - 6 PM.

Elise Ferer, the Libraries' librarian or undergraduate learning has a big task ahead of her - partnering with campus partners to integrate information literacy into the Drexel undergraduate experience. In a world full of quick Google searches, it can be a challenge to explain the importance of a good source and reliable information.


Libraries Work to Provide Access to 40 Years of WHYY's Fresh Air with Terry Gross

The Council on Library and Information Resources [CLIR] recently awarded WHYY a grant of more than $250,000 over two years to support the creating open and free access to its collection of the Peabody Award-winning national radio program, Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

The Libraries and  Legacy Center will consult on the project that will generate a cataloging system and rich metadata base that follows international library standards.
