 A "New Home" for the Advent Boys
Since 1989, the Laurel home has been a safe haven for hundreds of troubled teens, a place where they can receive the treatment, education, and life skills they need to reclaim hope for their future, to realize their potential and to restore their lives.
But after 23 years of housing at-risk youth, Laurel stood in need of some serious TLC.
Enter the Sovereign Order of St. John, an organization with a tradition of serving humanity that goes back to the time of the First Crusade. And So it Begins...
Demolition commenced the week of November 3, sledgehammering sheet rock, ripping up old carpeting and furniture, and hauling the debris out of the house to an on-site dumpster. The old pipes were then ripped out, as well as the doors.

Volunteers Save the Day!
Renovation at the St. John House was greatly enhanced by the many volunteers who labored alongside the various contractors from November 2012 to January 2013. This involved five work parties that courageously rolled up their sleeves...read more

Incredible Construction Crew
St. John House (formerly Laurel) has been a group home for troubled boys since 1986, and a home like this sees a lot of rough usage, so consequently it was due for some extensive work. Improvements also needed to be made that would add to the effectiveness of the facility.
