Dena's 2004 Renault
Nearing the End of Its Road!

The car has served us well. We got it back in 2007. It had been totaled and I got it fixed up. Dena uses it every day for errands and appointments, both personal and for the Home. However, for the past 6 months, it's been spending way too much time and money in the repair shop.

We have been looking for a replacement and have found a few that come close to what she is looking for in a car.

Unfortunately, Costa Rica adds $4000 to $5000 to the purchase price of a car, so we'll need around $20,000 for a budget car.

We want to let folks know of our need and start raising vehicle funds so that in 4 to 6 months we can get Dena a much needed upgrade.

From the Editor:

Expressing the need for a car replacement is big, something that Tim and I have been discussing for some time. It's a request that has requirTim and Denaed extensive prayer, wisdom and a lot of research on Tim and Dena's part - to come to the conclusion that now is the time to replace the Renault and to ask you their faithful supporters to help meet the need.

I ask on their behalf that you prayerfully consider a generous donation above your regular support to enable them to purchase a suitable car to meet their personal transportation needs as well as the needs of Hogar de Vida. Just send your donation to Children of Promise along with your regular donation and designate the additional gift to the Stromstad Car Replacement Fund. Whatever you decide, Tim and Dena are incredibly grateful for your faithful support of their ministry to the children of Hogar de Vida.

'Lil Update on the Stromstads!

Maria crossed the ½ way point of her studies in Industrial Engineering. Came home the other day with all A's and one B+. Maria is also one of the leaders in the church youth group and also will fill in once a month with Sunday school teaching. We are very proud of her!

After graduation last May Josh was looking for work in Pensacola. After 2 ½ month wait he got a job working in the evidence room with the Police department. He has put in a request to join the Pensacola Police department as well. He likes his work and very thankful to have a job.

Ben was chosen to join the Escambia county Sheriff's dept. and is currently working with them and also going through the academy. Plans are to graduate in May and will become a deputy at that point. He is liking what he is doing and so far the academy is going over info that he had studied at college.

Tim is loving life. Was a full summer with some awesome teams and two excursions to the USA. I was able to scoot home for a Stromstad family reunion at Sarah Lake and then to my niece, Amy's wedding July 5th. Was informed that next time Dena has to come to help with the work load my mom carries. Then in Aug Dena & I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary flying on United Airlines from Costa Rica to Omaha. LifeGate Church flies us to the USA every 2 years for a global workers reunion and rest and training. What a blessing they are to us!

Best for last! Dena is amazing. Her ability to lead and serve and cover around 2 full time jobs and wash the clothes is amazing! It never ceases to amaze me how much work it is to oversee and run this mission to care for 35 children. This year we have changed from caring for children to FORMING children. That means more training for our staff and more meetings and the need for more volunteers. One thing is for sure, after supper if there is time to flip on the tube, Dena is fast asleep before 5 min has passed!! Maria and I smile and we are glad for her long hours of service to us and the mission! She did have a lil break when her best friend took her on a bucket list outing and went on an Alaskan cruise! That was a disconnect from here and besides the cruise she got to stay 5 days with her brother Tim and his family and was also able to spend one day with my brother Todd and his kids in Olympia.

God is good to us and thanks for all your support and prayers heading our way! We pray blessings on you all! So deeply grateful for all of the wonderful faithful supporters that are helping us be able to do this deeply gratifying work! BIG THANKS to all of you.

---Tim & Dena.
