Director's Message
We have lots of new programs this month to celebrate summer, and an array of raffle prize baskets for people of all ages and interests. By participating in the Summer Reading Program you earn raffle tickets for attending library events and reading books. The program will culminate with a party and raffle drawing on August 13th.

The summer reading kickoff carnival rescheduled to Saturday July 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will have a bounce house, lots of games, tons of prizes, face painting, food and fun. At the carnival you will be able to pick up your summer reading packet which has a reading log, incentive game, and raffle ticket.

Please save the morning of Saturday, July 16 for when author Stephen Silverman will be here to do an illustrated talk on his highly readable and popular new book: The Catskills: Its History and How It Changed America.

There are some things that did not make it onto our printed rack card such as the meditation classes on July 18th. We will also screen the documentary Janis: Little Girl Blue on July 14. We hope you will take advantage of some of our summer program offerings and learn or try something new.

See you at the library!

There, as the rest of the world goes to war, she encounters Ichimei Fukuda, the quiet and gentle son of the family's Japanese gardener. Unnoticed by those around them, a tender love affair begins to blossom. Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the two are cruelly pulled apart as Ichimei and his family, like thousands of other Japanese Americans are declared enemies and forcibly relocated to internment camps run by the United States government.
