Director's Message

We are going to be a drop off location for Rondout Valley Organics, a group of local organic farms in the Rondout Valley. It is similar to a CSA but includes more than vegetables and more flexibility. Please visit the website to learn more about the farms and find out how to join.

Please note that there will be two weeks between the ending of the current yoga class session, April 4, and the beginning of the next session, which starts April 20th. Please see details in the newsletter.

On Monday, April 25 there will be a cooking demonstration of plant-based recipes by chef Diane Haggedorn. The evening will include a vegan potluck, so bring your favorite non-meat, animal-product-free food to share. The new cookbook: For Goodness Sake: Plant-Based Recipes from the Spiral House Kitchen will be for sale and proceeds will benefit the library.

On February 20th, Charles "Skip" Weidner, a lifelong resident of Olive passed away. In lieu of flowers the family has generously directed people to send donations to the library in Skip's name. We are very grateful.

Charles "Skip" Weidner, 5/16/1926-2/20/2016

The monthly community dinners have been very well attended. The next one will be on Thursday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome at the table.

See you at the library!

Named a Best Book of the Year by the New York Times Book Review, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Seattle Times and many publications.

"A profound, startling, and beautifully crafted debut novel, The Sympathizer is the story of a man of two minds, someone whose political beliefs clash with his individual loyalties. In dialogue with but diametrically opposed to the narratives of the Vietnam War that have preceded it, this novel offers an important and unfamiliar new perspective on the war: that of a conflicted communist sympathizer."
