Director's Message

Our summer reading program begins July 3, and we are holding a carnival to kick it off in style! We have lots of programs for folks of all ages this summer so we hope you will come out and join the fun! If you cannot come to the carnival, come in and pick up a packet anytime July 3 or after. We have 14 prize baskets, appealing to all ages, and you get a ticket to win just for signing up!

We have been sending out a card to all Olive residents that lists the dates of all our programs for next two months. The latest card does not include all the activities because we could not fit them all! The newsletter has the most complete list and description of programs. For those of you who did not receive a card in the mail, please come by the library to pick one up, we have plenty.

We have recently purchased a VHS/DVD recorder that you can use to convert your family home movies on VHS to DVD. Please make an appointment in order to get instructions to use this equipment.

See you at the library!

Book Club
Saturday, July 18, 4:00 p.m.

By Maria Semple

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears.

Come discuss this with other book lovers!

Monday, July 20 & 27, 5:45-6:45 p.m.
Meditation Class for Adults

In this class adults will learn techniques for meditation or mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of focusing our attention on our thoughts, feelings, and environment in the present moment.  Mindfulness practice has been linked to reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and improving quality of life.
Come for the meditation class, and stay on for the Monday night yoga class.

Library Beehive Project

Local Boy Scout, Blake Overton, is building an observation beehive for the library where people will be able to learn about bees by observing them up close. The hive is entirely safe and may inspire others to keep bees. To learn more about the project click here.

Snowshoes Wanted!

The library is seeking donations of snowshoes in good condition that we can lend out (just like we loan out books and ukuleles!) We are particularly interested in kids sizes right now so we can take kids in the nature club out in the woods during the winter. If you have any snow shoes you would like to donate, please bring them to the library. Thank you!
