Director's Message
Our annual Holiday Fair will include a museum exhibit opening, locally-made gifts, food, and other fun activities. The exhibit is a collaboration between the library and the Ulster County Archives. It tells the story of the Town of Olive in the days before the reservoir, and the intense wrangling that went on as the government seized residents' property in order to clear the way for the reservoir. The exhibit, "Watery Graves" has been curated by our newest staff person, librarian and archives specialist Rejoice Scherry. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday! Please check out the fair schedule below.

We are undertaking a survey of the community in order to learn what programs, materials, and services people want our library to provide. The library's board of directors and staff work hard to make this a library that serves everyone in the community. In order to do that we need to know what programs and services are working, and where we can improve. Please take a few moments to fill it out.

We are so grateful to those who have recently made monetary gifts to the library. All contributions are tax-deductible and are so helpful for keeping the library running.

See you at the library!

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry
By
 Gabrielle Zevin
A. J. Fikry, the irascible owner of Island Books, has recently endured some tough years: his wife has died, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history, and his prized possession--a rare edition of Poe poems--has been stolen. Over time, he has given up on people, and even the books in his store, instead of offering solace, are yet another reminder of a world that is changing too rapidly. Until a most unexpected occurrence gives him the chance to make his life over and see things anew. (from Amazon)

In this free beekeeping workshop, participants will learn everything they need to know to start keeping bees in the spring. No knowledge of beekeeping is necessary.

Please take the library survey!

The library wants to know what you want to see at the library in terms of programs, books, and other materials and services. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey in order to help us learn how to serve you better!

Library Beehive Project

Local Boy Scout, Blake Overton, is building an observation beehive for the library where people will be able to learn about bees by observing them up close. The hive is entirely safe and may inspire others to keep bees. To learn more about the project click here.

Snowshoes Wanted!

The library is seeking donations of snowshoes in good condition that we can lend out (just like we loan out books and ukuleles!) We are particularly interested in kids sizes right now so we can take kids in the nature club out in the woods during the winter. If you have any snow shoes you would like to donate, please bring them to the library. Thank you!
