Director's Message

The fleeting fall season is here and its getting gorgeous around the library. To take advantage of all this beauty we will offer two outdoor programs early in the month that will help you identify the trees and plants in our area.
Our new hours go into effect this Saturday, October 4th. Come by and pick up a magnet with the new library hours, we have plenty of them.
The new ping pong table is installed and we have folks who are looking for others to play with. We are looking to establish a regular game day at the library. Let us know what day works best for your schedule if you are interested.
With the weather turning colder we would like to start up the knitting group again. Please contact the library to let us know when would be the best time for us to put it on the schedule.
Applications will be available for the holiday fair on October 2. You will be able to find them on our website or at the library. We look forward to another great year of locally made crafts and gifts.
Please sign up for the Red Cross shelter volunteer training if you want to help out in case of an emergency. The library is now a Red Cross partner shelter.

See you at the library!
--Katie

The Circle
By
Dave Eggers

Mae Holland, a woman in her 20s, arrives for her first day of work at a company called the Circle. She marvels at the beautiful campus, the fountain, the tennis and volleyball courts, the squeals of children from the day care center "weaving like water." The first line in the book is: " 'My God,' Mae thought. 'It's heaven.' "And so we know that the Circle in Dave Eggers' new novel, The Circle, will be a hell. (NY Times)

The training is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required. A minimum of 8 registrants is required or the training will be cancelled.

RSVP to Shelter Coordinator Monica Raiss at Monica.Raiss@redcross.org or 310-850-2236

Seeds of Change

As you deadhead your pollinator-attracting flowers, such as black-eyed Susans, please bring the seeds to the library. We will spread them on the hillside facing the road in order to expand our pollinator garden.
