Mar 9 2015 | Venture exchanges the subject of a Senate Banking debate over whether regulators should foster their creation as a way to spur growth of emerging and small cap companies. The Securities, Insurance and Investment subcommittee will hear from Stephen Luparello, head of the SEC's Trading and Markets unit, NYSE Group President Thomas Farley and Nasdaq OMX Group executive Nelson Griggs. SEC Chair Mary Jo White said last month that her agency is looking at "encouraging the development of venture exchanges as venues to provide more liquidity for the securities of smaller companies."
