| Water Meters Coming in 2014 |
Thanks for your support at the recent 2013 Town Meeting. As soon as the weather permits we will be out flushing the water mains. I will send out a notice as to the dates that we will be in your neighborhood. I am also working on gathering updated prices for water meters. Cogswell Spring Water Works is long overdue for the installation of water meters. We will be looking to install them in 2014. I think that you will agree that they are the fairest way to bill for water, you will pay for what you use. They will also promote water conservation. We are also looking for a suitable site for a new production well on the north side of the river.
Respectfully
Norman R. Bumford, Superintendent

| Time to Put the Bird Feeders Away |
Preventing bear trouble at home and on the farm:
- Take down, clean and put away bird feeders by April 1. Store the bird feeder until late fall. (Birds will do just fine with the natural foods available.) Bear damage to bird feeders is a common and growing spring complaint.
- Clean up spilled seed below feeder stations.
- Keep garbage in airtight containers inside your garage or storage area. Double bagging and the use of ammonia will reduce odors that attract bears.
- Garbage for pickup should be put outside the morning of collection and not the night before.
- Do not place meat or sweet food scraps in your compost pile.
- Do not leave pet food or dishes outdoors at night.
- Clean up and/or store outdoor grills after use.
- Use a bear-proof dumpster.
- Never intentionally feed bears to attract them to your yard for viewing. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears.

| Tips for Disposing Sharps & Pharmaceuticals |
Tips for disposing of household generated sharps (hypodermic needles/syringes and lancets). Sharps should be enclosed inside rigid plastic, puncture-resistant containers and should be labeled "Sharps - not for recycling". An ordinary bleach or laundry detergent bottle is sufficient for this purpose. When the container is full, simply put the cap back on, tape the cap on with heavy-duty tape (duct tape works well) and simply place it in the trash. This technique ensures that a needle does not stick a solid waste worker somewhere down the line.
Tips for disposing of pharmaceuticals from the home. Medicines should be poured into a sealable plastic bag. If the medicine is solid, add a small amount of water to dissolve it. Add coffee grounds, cat litter or something similar to absorb the liquid in the bag. Seal the bag and dispose of it in the trash. This technique ensures that unneeded or unwanted medicines are rendered useless and cannot end up in the wrongs hands or end up in groundwater due to being flushed down the toilet.

| Help Shape our Region's Future | The Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission (CNHRPC) has begun the process to develop an updated Regional Master Plan, entitled the Central New Hampshire Regional Plan. This Plan will be based upon local values and needs that together present a vision for how we can improve our communities, region, and the state. The Central NH Regional Plan will be an advisory document that communities may use as a resource when updating their own municipal Master Plans. We need your help! We hope you will consider attending an upcoming Regional Community Conversation about the future of our communities, our region, and our state. This event will assist us in learning what is important to people in the Region, which we can convey and address in the Central New Hampshire Regional Plan. To assist us, UNH Cooperative Extension and NH Listens have designed and will host an opportunity for neighbors to talk with neighbors to identify local assets, local needs, and ways to effectively use limited government resources. Please help spread the word. All perspectives are welcome and we hope you will join us!
