Book Zurman Recognized for 20 years of commitment to Veterans'
health care in Pinellas County
VA awarded Book Zurman a $20.7 million 5-year integrated health standards contract in May 2016
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (July 21, 2016) - The mission of Brian Book's Pinellas-based company, Book Zurman, is to help the Veteran's Administration (VA) to fulfill President Lincoln's promise;
"To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.
On August 17th, at the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioner's meeting, Brian Book was presented the "Thank you for Doing Business in Pinellas," award by Commission Chairman Charlie Justice.
"I'd like to recognize Brian Book for his service to our country and for founding and growing Book Zurman in Pinellas County," said Commissioner Charlie Justice, Chairman of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. "Brian has a continuing passion for supporting the complex health care systems that serve our nation's Veterans and we're honored to have him in our community."
Book Zurman, a Center for Veteran Enterprises (CVE) Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, specializes in managing complex program lifecycles that include developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise healthcare IT systems. The company is headquartered in Pinellas Park.
Brian Book served in the Army during the first Gulf War. After a service related injury brought his military career to an end, he returned to school to earn a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. Book Zurman was founded in Pinellas County in 1996.
"I'm honored that Pinellas County selected Book Zurman for this recognition," said Brian Book, President of Book Zurman. "I've been fortunate to work with the team at Pinellas County Economic Development and the Florida Small Business Development Center. I've found their assistance to be valuable in developing our growth strategies for financing, market development and government procurement."
In May 2016, the VA Awarded Book Zurman a $20.7 million 5-year integrated health standards contract. Beating out two others to secure the award, the company will provide subject matter expertise, policy guidance and strategic recommendations regarding health standards implementation for VA's IT systems
Book Zurman played a pivotal role in the establishment of two of the largest healthcare information systems in the U.S. - the VHA Health Information Model and the Federal Health Information Model. The company is currently helping the Veteran's Administration develop the framework to enable the healthcare industry to have global access to standards based clinical decision support on standards based data.
