PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (June 20, 2016) -  Businesses, borrowers and browsers are invited to the 2016 Pinellas County Finance Fair, where 20 different Tampa Bay area lenders will be available to discuss business finance options. The Pinellas County Finance Fair facilitates informal discussion between prospective borrowers and lenders: attendees are encouraged to speak one-on-one with a variety of lenders about their current and/or future business funding needs.

"This is one of our best events," says Dr. Cynthia Johnson, Director of the Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at Pinellas County Economic Development. "The casual, comfortable format allows participants to talk directly with lenders about their needs, without having to first complete a loan application or make multiple appointments."

Carey Jennette: Seeking Financing for a Circus Arts Training Facility in St. Petersburg

The trade show format is appealing to prospective borrowers like Carey Jennette, who plans to attend the Pinellas County Finance Fair in advance of opening a circus arts training facility. Carey has a solid concept and business plan in place, but needs to secure financing to open the doors. The process of searching for the right loan and the right lender can be daunting.

"I've learned that many banks like to do business with people that they have an established relationship with. Understandable. How do you build a relationship with loan or bank officers before you need a loan of this size?" she attests. "It takes money to make money. This Finance Fair is an opportunity for me to meet a larger quantity of banks/ loan officers that I wouldn't be exposed to on my own accord."

Dr. Johnson expands, "Carey Jennette is a perfect example of the type of entrepreneur we hope to aid through the Finance Fair. We want to bring together start-ups and small businesses with the lenders that can help them reach their goals. We want to take away the mystery of small business lending and help participants find solutions."

For Carey the goal is clear: secure the financing necessary to put her business plan into action.

"I have spent the last two years working towards the goal of opening a circus arts training facility in the Saint Petersburg area," she explains. I feel I can really move the training available in this geographic area forward by leaps and bounds. Securing the financing is literally the key to my business."

The Pinellas County Finance Fair is free to entrepreneurs, business owners, or any interested business person, however registration is requested. Lunch will be included.
