Obama administration using housing department to compel diversity in neighborhoods

 In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America's neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory.
The policy is called, "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing." It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it.
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan unveiled the federal rule at the NAACP convention in July.
"Unfortunately, in too many of our hardest hit communities, no matter how hard a child or her parents work, the life chances of that child, even her lifespan, is determined by the zip code she grows up in. This is simply wrong," he said.
Data from this discrimination database would be used with zoning laws, housing finance policy, infrastructure planning and transportation to alleviate alleged discrimination and segregation.

Obama Was Indonesian Citizen When Attending Occidental College Claims Witness to Records

 Dr. Orly Taitz, Esquire is a dentist and attorney. She is also the Founder of Defend Our Freedoms Foundation. Over the last four years, Taitz has become one of the active 'birthers' in the nation, filing a number of lawsuits and request for information under the Freedom of Information Act. One of the cases she filed was to compel Barack Obama to produce his registration record at Occidental College. The case is Taitz v. Obama, Feinstein, Emken and is now being appealed in the Fourth District Court of Appeals in the Superior Court of California. The case number is G047746 and the Superior Court case number is 30-2012-00582135. The original case claimed that there was over 100 pages of documentation proving that Barack Obama was indeed a citizen of Indonesia at the time of his college registration at Occidental College and that he used forged and fraudulent means to secure IDs. Superior Court Judge Charles Marginis ruled in favor of Occidental College and denied the motion to force the production of Obama's college registration forms. The appeal was re-instated by the Chief Judge of the Fourth District Court of Appeal Kathleen O'Leary. When the case was appealed, all parties were given 15 days to file their Appellee's brief. Taitz filed her brief with the court in the allotted time. When Obama, Feinstein and Emken failed to file their briefs, they were given an additional 15 days and once again they failed to file their Appellee's brief. In response the failure of the Appellees, Taitz filed a notice with the court that contained a notice of the failure of the Appellees to file their briefs within the allotted time frame. She also submitted additional information with the court stating that she was recently approached by a woman who claimed to work for the Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany, New York. The whistle-blower told Taitz that she had personally seen and reviewed Barack Obama's financial aid information at Occidental College. That information listed the financial aid he received due to the fact that he was a foreign student and a citizen of Indonesia.

The third part of the evening will be a Question & Answer Session focused on what we can do. Especially because, to date, we parents, teachers, PTOs and PTAs, school boards, administrators, and concerned citizens have had no say in the matter.
The Federal Government effectively 'bribed' the State apparatus to adopt the Common Core using federal stimulus money, and they did so 'behind the scenes' without any significant public debate. There hasn't been any means testing to ensure that the standards are successful in the classroom. Finally, only 1 out of 60 content experts who reviewed the Common Core were teachers, and no proof was provided that their feedback was received, or their changes reflected in the final standards.

Common Core is a huge issue for our schools and students as well as the taxpayers. The cost of implementing Common Core Standards (CCS) in PA will be $650 million or more over seven years at a time when we are facing a severe pension crisis. The PA legislature was bypassed when PA signed on to the CCS. There is no evidence that this costly and transformational initiative will result in better learning outcomes. In addition, we believe that we will lose local control over our school boards and over the education of our students.
For our August meeting we will have a Common Core post card writing blitz and we urge you all to join in the effort. VFP will supply pre-stamped post cards, as well as bullet points to write and addresses of legislators. This is a nationwide effort that we are coordinating with Pennsylvanians Against Common Core.
It is most important that we contact and continue to contact legislators since this Common Core initiative is already being implemented. Of course, the leftist teachers unions will be spaming mail, probably on the clock as usual. If you have kids, grandkids, neices and nephews you need to care about this. The VFP has joined a statewide Common Core letter/post card writing blitz. At our meeting this Friday, August 9 we will begin this campaign.
Here is how it works.
We picked a week, the week of August 11, but we will start writing Friday. The goal is to mail 50 letters/cards a day to Harrisburg during the six day week.
We are going to be doing post cards but you may do a letter if you prefer. 10 people write and send 5 cards Monday, 10 more do 5 cards on Tuesday, and on through the rest of the week. Ideally, that would be 60 people for the week doing 5 cards for six days.
I will be preparing handouts with Common Core bullet points to write and the addresses where the cards will be sent. You will be asked to send to at least 5 addresses on the list, more if possible. Since the legislators are on recess. the cards will go to district offices.
I also have some preprinted post cards that we can use but hand written works best.

Gun Control advocates Still on the March!
Gun Control groups like Mayor Bloombergs CeasefirePA are still pushing hard to further "question" our right to Keep and Bear Arms! Just this week CeasefirePA testified at the PA Judiciary Committee hearing on HB1010 to expand background checks (next step towards registration). And the Bloomberg anti-gun bus tour continues across the USA with a likely stop in PA in the next 60 days. The recent Zimmerman trial verdict has given these anti-liberty groups a renewed energy to pass more incremental gun control laws.
This battle for our rights needs YOU to stay involved. CGOPA is an all-volunteer grassroots group of citizens, we are your friends and neighbors. There is a core group of 13 and we are always looking for more help! We need people to help coordinate legislative action and develop a formal membership framework. WHAT IS COMMON CORE?Common Core, or the Common Core State Standards Initative (CCSSI), as it is known at the State and Federal level, is a set of national education standards that will fulfill the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, through a waiver system. (The NCLB Act was put into place by Congress in 2001 and signed into law by President George W. Bush). Many states were failing to meet the NCLB Act requirements and, therefore, wanted something to replace NCLB.Common Core is part of the UN's plan for complete federal control over our education systems and the "Dumbing-down" of America. Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) are not state standards in the first place, and are nothing more then further federalization of our state education systems. COMMON CORE IS A TROJAN HORSE AND TIED TO THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)If you cannot see that Common Core is tied to the United Nations you have not done your homework! The major funder of the Common Core Movement is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has pledged $60 million dollars to this effort. Bill and Melinda Gates are tied to UN through-and-through and have spent money in America and overseas for UN programs in Africa and all over the world for decades.
From the Conservative Teachers of American organization, they wrote an article entitled: "Common Core Standards and the Federalization of Education." In this article we read: "Many are concerned that the Common Core Standards, once successfully implemented, will provide unfettered access of our educational system by the United Nations. Some textbooks and curricula for our public schools have already been written by the [United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization] UNESCO and the International Baccalaureate program, that is currently in many school districts, across the United States. Grabbing additional access is a natural next step. Once they write the curricula, they must have authority to develop all testing tools."
The UN involvement in the American educational system has already been facilitated by treaties signed by American presidents from both parties. Those documents include but are not limited to: Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Treaty on the Rights of the Child, Civic Education: Classroom Connections, and Agenda 21. The US Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development (since 2003), is the nexus of the UNA-USA and Global Leadership Coalition at the Department of Education, which altogether leverages the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014. UNESCO, the lead agency of the Decade, defines Education for Sustainable Development as "education for everyone everywhere" for the "lifelong learning" of "present and future generations". The UNA-USA sponsors Model UN across America and tailors its Global Classrooms curricula to whichever setting the kids happen to be participating. Children are unknowingly trained to respond with prescribed consensus to the situations, simulations and stimulation's of the particular activity (Delphi Technique). Global Kids is the CFR arm of Connect All Schools Consortium, a new Department of Education network, led by Independent Sector and The White House via United Planet Partners. Global Kids is preparing children for Agenda 21. The White House, NSA and CIA now have website divisions aimed at kids. The Public Education Network is a national association funded by Independent Sector donors: plus Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Department of Education "Funders" of the Rockefeller Foundation-backed International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), "Members" of the the Sustainability Consortium, backed by the EPA and BSR (Rockefeller Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, State Department) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-backed International City/County Management Association (ICMA): Center for Sustainable Communities (an ICLEI "Partner") are "partnered" with local schools and governments. From the Partnership for 21st Century Skills aligning the Common Core State Standards with "professional development" content for teachers and principals and Lego Robotics curricula for students (Carnegie Mellon/Lego Education); to software curricula through websites like: cyberschoolbus.un.org, icivics.org, atomiclearning.com, renlearn.org, brainpop.com and ttl4.sunburst.com; to the weekly deliveries of Time for Kids magazine and textbook curricula into classrooms; kids are programmed with UN-defined values. State Governors administer Federal funds to "Community-Oriented Policing" systems like Crime Stoppers (The UN, FBI and other law enforcement and corporate partners administer Crime Stoppers International), the local student-equivalent of the Department of Homeland Security's' "See Something, Say Something" campaign; whereby children see hand-drawn posters of child characters on school walls displaying "Eyes Looking", "Ears Listening", "Mouth Reporting" with a hotline to call. Presidents Bush and Obama have personally followed the George H. W. Bush/Clinton trail of the Agenda 21/ Sustainable America megabanks-maze in "bipartisan" fashion. UNESCO PLEDGES SUPPORT OF COMMON COREFrom UNESCO's document "The Vision of Education Reform in the United States" it states: "My department has been pleased to partner with the US Agency for International Development to help ensure that our best domestic practices are shared world-wide. The United States provides over a billion dollars annually to partner countries working on educational reform. Our goal for the coming year will be to work closely with global partners, including UNESCO, to promote qualitative improvements and system strengthening....Ultimately, education is the great equalizer. It is the one force that can consistently overcome differences in background, culture, and privilege." THE UN'S AGENDA 21- COMMON CORE IMPLEMENTER!In the United Nations Agenda 21 (Guide for the 21st Century), Chapters #25 and #36 specifically talk about education of our children: Principle #25- "Children and Youth in Sustainable Development." In the "Activites 25.9.d" it states: "Ensure access for all youth to all types of education, wherever appropriate, providing alternative learning structures, ensure that education reflects the economic and social needs of youth and incorporates the concepts of environmental training, implementing innovative methods aimed at increasing practical skills, such as environmental scouting." Principle #36- "Promoting Education, Public Awareness and Training." In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5.g" we read: "Within two years the United Nations system should undertake a comprehensive review of its educational programmes, encompassing training and public awareness, to reassess priorites and reallocae resources. The UNESCO/UNEP International Environmental Education Programme should, in cooperation with the appropriate bodies of the United Nations system, Governments, non-governmental organizations and others, establish a porgramme within two years to integrate the decisions of the Conference into the existing United Nations framework adapted to the need of the educators at different levels and circumstances. Regional organizations and national authorities should be encouraged to elaborate similar parallel programmes and opportunies by conducting an analysis of how to mobilize different sectors of the population in order to assess and address their environmental and development education needs." In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5 h" we read: "There is a need to strengthen, within five years, information exchange by enhancing technologies and capacities necessary to promote environment and development education and public awareness. Countries should cooperate with each other and with the various social sectors and population groups to prepare educational tools that include regional environment and development issues and initiatives, using learning materials and resources suited to their own requirements." Sounds just like PARCC and SLDS. ASU's Institute for Global Sustainability and their "Sustainable Cities Network" is doing a fine job "brain-washing" our students in our high schools on sustainability, global warming (aka climate change), etc. Go here to meet the ASU sustainability schools! A group that allowed this kind of rhetoric to be said at their meeting? I don't think I want them developingeducational standards! Please read to the bottom for transcripts from the 1987 NGA meetings chaired by Bill Clinton. These transcripts are eye-opening. They are clearly more concerned with workers for the manufacturing. They seem to have concerns that we have students who can't read well enough (non-English speaking especially) to function in the manufacturing plants, and then on the other end of the spectrum... too many with higher ed degrees who don't WANT to work in the manufacturing. So... what to do about all this? Hummm.... standards! Make sure they read well enough to function as the industrial workers, but not so well that they don't want to!!! This is the John D. Rockefeller goal of the early 20th century when he started pushing for compulsory government schooling and funding the building of government schools.

At the June 10 Common Core forum in Fayette County, Superintendent Barge stated over and over again that if Georgia wants to change these standards at any time, we have the ability to do so. The testimony below contradicts this belief by Superintendent Barge and confirms that states who adopted the Common Core standards DO NOT have the ability to change the standards in any way on their own.
2:23:00 - Rep. Tim Scott discusses his amendment to Harkin's bill. Instead of states being forced to adopt blanket standards like Common Core as a prerequisite for funding, let's put decision-making back in the hands of parents and teachers in our communities."
2:31:00 - It is admitted that states who want to change the CC standards,the Secretary of Education would have to approve it. States DO NOT have the ultimate decision making abilities!
2:39:00 - Alexander reads page 89 of the bill stating that any changes to standards MUST go through the Secretary of Education for approval.
As are most of the amendments offered by Republicans to this education bill, the Scott Amendment is defeated 12-10.
DATA COLLECTING: Senator Burr at the 1:00:00 mark reveals information about ADDITIONAL data points that this legislation will add to the data mining. He says that his count is now 500 data points.
TEACHER EVALUATIONS: Senator Alexander at 2:00:00 mark discusses his amendment to end federally mandated school and teacher evaluations. He says states had a "gun to their head" to adopt the teacher evaluations because they were desperate for NCLB waivers. He makes the charge that the Harkin bill creates a "NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD." The Gates Foundation involvement is mentioned frequently.
Harkin says over and over "this is voluntary." If states don't want to implement the programs in the bill we just don't accept the money!" More strong evidence that our states need to "just say no" to all federal education dollars. As is pointed out in this debate: Any private business that entered into a partnership where the partner who contributed 10% funding got 80-90% of the control (as is the case with education funding under NCLB and Common Core) the partnership is DOOMED TO FAIL!

The Growing Threat of Smart Meters
Sustainable Development is code for a policy designed to transform human society, essentially eliminating individual life decisions and replacing them with top - down, one-size-fits-all government control. In steady fashion, the agenda for this new policy, designed at the international level, is put into place piece by piece with a new government council here, and new regulation there, each designed to appear as a "local" development program. Like the proverbial frog in the slowly boiling pot, many Americans fail to notice the rise in government heat. The main course of action to impose the new agenda is through the pretense of environmental protection; "Sorry about your rights, but if we don't save the planet, then we will all perish!" And so with the devastation of a thousand pin pricks, America and its form or government is being changed through the creation of non-elected boards, councils and regional governments, designed to enforce the new regulations and "assure that we protect the environment."
The pin pricks come disguised as such issues as controls on community development; controls on use of private property; controls on use of open space; creation of development areas, many times under the excuse of historic preservation; communities designed on the blue print of pack and stack housing; making it harder to drive as roads are narrowed, even forcing cars to share the road with bicycles; the enforcement of expensive mass transit boondoggle projects; and the never ending spending spree on inefficient, unworkable alternative energy, such as wind and solar power.
In fact, control of energy and water are the two most effective tools in the enforcement of the Sustainable Development agenda. Without energy and water, human society stops. Using strict controls on how, or even if, energy and water can be used provides government with the power to dictate every aspect of society.

Because of these failures, legislators have been addressing the problems at their local levels with bills to manage it incrementally, piece-by-piece, rather than trying to fix the national problem at once--an impossible task. What most Americans expect is to have our borders secure, enforcement of the existing laws within the interior, meaningful punishment of employers who hire illegally and removal of incentives such as birthright citizenships and public school enrollments without status verifications. We must also address the fact that we're soft on criminals caught in crimes and aren't deported. No other country would allow this to continue. 40% of them entered the country legally and overstayed their visas. Yet there's still no reliable method to verify if Visa overstays have left the country. Another incentive that must be addressed is the birthright citizenship program that has resulted in millions of children and parents receiving instant rights and benefits. Some have called them "GPS babies" and this certainly cannot be what the authors of the 14th Amendment intended to occur. Public housing and other benefits are provided for the illegal parents through their 'anchor children' while citizens are turned away because of limited resources. This antiquated program must end. Government agencies and officials at all levels must address the costs associated with this kind of abuse. Past mistakes have been made in attempts to fix illegal immigration and our communities can no longer afford these kinds of mistakes.

ObamaCare is Our Choice

Cowards can find a thousand reasons for not doing what they're afraid to do.
After staging 38 votes to repeal the anti-gun ObamaCare law -- and having Harry Reid throw their bills in the wastebasket 38 times -- House and Senate Republicans now have a chance to force ObamaCare repeal right down Harry Reid's throat.
The only question is whether or not they have the courage.
Gun owners have opposed ObamaCare since its inception, given that a national health database could be used by federal bureaucrats to disarm millions of law-abiding Americans. The use of medical data has already been used to disarm gun owners in New York -- and has led to more than 150,000 military veterans losing their gun rights for ailments such as PTSD.
This law must be defunded prior to October 1, when two things happen:
* The first is that the "health care exchanges" are supposed to come on line. People -- and particularly young people -- will find out how much money they're going to have to flush down the toilet for inflated politically correct premiums, under penalty of law.
* The second thing that happens on October 1 is that much of the federal government will "slow down" -- not shut down as has been erroneously reported -- unless a funding bill called a "Continuing Resolution," or CR for short, is approved. For better or worse, most of the federal government will continue to operate as usual, and all "essential" discretionary functions will continue as well.
But there's one thing that's definitely "not essential," and that's ObamaCare.
In the Senate, Republican Mike Lee of Utah sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on behalf of almost a dozen colleagues, stating that they will not support a Continuing Resolution that funds the implementation of the anti-gun ObamaCare law.
In the House, Rep. Steve Stockman introduced H.Res. 333 on Friday -- a resolution that, if passed, would forbid the House of Representatives from passing a CR that funds ObamaCare.
So to recap the bidding: On the very day that the American people flip their lids over this wildly unpopular ObamaCare mandate, Republicans have the opportunity to stage a showdown. And if they win, ObamaCare goes down the tubes, along with the rest of Barack Obama's agenda.
So, given that option, why would the GOP not want to pursue it? Just listen to what a few Republican senators have said recently:
* Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) said that using the CR to defund ObamaCare is the "dumbest thing I've ever heard."
* Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) said that, "I think it's a silly effort."
* Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) said this was the "dumbest idea" he had ever heard.
* And Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said the effort was "a bridge too far for me."
Despite these acts of cowardice, the American people are firmly behind Congress doing something to defang this anti-gun law.
According to a CNN poll, 73% of the American people favor repealing ObamaCare, either fully or partially (March 2012). So given the widespread opposition to this anti-gun law, why are many GOP legislators balking at this opportunity to drive a stake through its ugly heart?
There are at least five misrepresentations that some Republicans are using to justify their cowardice on ObamaCare. Click here to see what these misstatements are and how they can be easily answered.
ACTION: Contact your Senators and Representatives. Tell them to insist that NO Continuing Resolution to fund the government contain money for the ObamaCare individual mandate. Take these three actions right away:
1. Click here to contact your Senators and Representatives. Urge your Senators to sign onto the Lee letter and your Representative to sign onto the Stockman resolution (H.Res. 333). You can also call your legislators using the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.
2. Distribute this alert to all your family, friends and co-workers and encourage them all to take action.

Will you just let me mention here how staggering it is the amount of energy the GOP will put into passing immigration reform, but not into defunding Obamacare. Just staggering.

1. DONE! Some time around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, about seven hours into our campaign, we reached the $10,000.00 goal from around 200 donors for Ken Cuccinelli. I'm curious to see how much we can raise. Before sunset we crossed $15,000.00.... I also want to mention briefing ActRight.com, through which we are doing this fundraising effort. Since 2005, the left has used ActBlue as an activist portal. Leftwing activists can support candidates and causes through ActBlue. It's actually a very well done site its designers and founders should be proud of. The GOP should hold its head in shame that it has never been able to come up with something similar. There have been several attempts over the years. The most popular was probably Slatecard, but it went away. Many of the major consultants in the GOP have their own fundraising portals and bleed candidates dry to use them. These consultants get really rich doing this and have worked mightily behind the scenes to shut down Republican efforts at creating a counterpart to ActBlue. I am happy to use and support ActRight.com. I hope they have the staying power. Major conservative donors should pay attention to their own failure in funding groups like ActRight.com and I hope RedState can help ActRight ramp up and stay around longer than the predecessors on the right. David Vitter Fights Back Against Obamacare I reported yesterday that Senate Republicans and Democrats have declared truce over Obamacare as it relates to congressional staffers and members of Congress themselves. Republicans have decided they will not attack Democrats because they want the exemption too. One member of Congress who is not only enraged by this, but is willing to do something about it, is Louisiana Senator David Vitter. This afternoon he has mailed letters to House and Senate Leaders as well as President Obama, demanding that Congress be treated like everyone else with no exemptions or carve outs for congressional staff. I hope he will hold strong and stand with Senator Mike Lee to oppose funding Obamacare in the continuing resolution. He signed Mike Lee's letter so I expect we won't have to worry about that at all. What Everybody Ought to Know About Obamacare
Obamacare: It's unfair, unaffordable, and unworkable.
So it's no surprise that Organizing for Action, President Obama's campaign group, is aggressively posting on all of its media outlets to try to hide the truth about Obamacare.
Just last week, the group blasted out emails and tweets to activists encouraging them to "see how Obamacare is already working."
But Organizing for Action is wrong. Obamacare isn't working, and it won't ever work. That's why we're challenging every claim Obamacare supporters make-and you should, too. Congress should refuse to spend a single dime implementing this massive train wreck.

Chaos In Cairo
During his opening monologue last night, Jay Leno joked about President Obama sending Senator John McCain to Egypt. Here's what he said:
"President Obama has sent John McCain to Cairo to help solve the political problems that brought the Egyptian government to a halt. I got an idea. How about solving the problems that brought our government to a halt."
The audience roared, but there is a serious point here. It is bad enough that the Obama Administration is pressuring the Egyptian government to go soft on the Muslim Brotherhood, demanding that it bring those terrorists-in-suits into the government. But do Lindsey Graham and John McCain really have to be partners in this absurdly counterproductive effort?
We are having a hard enough time trying to figure out how to handle Islamists in the U.S., like the Tsarnaev brothers. Even though they took the oath of citizenship and swore their allegiance to our country, they were essentially a cancer in our society and turned the Boston Marathon into a bloodbath.
There is also the case of Nidal Hasan, a military officer who "switched sides" and went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood. Rather than recognize this act of jihad for what it was, the Obama Administration classified it as "workplace violence."
Why are we telling the Egyptians how to handle the Islamists? The people who overthrew Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood are the real moderates in Egypt.
There was a change in the government because millions of Egyptians wanted nothing to do with the Muslim Brotherhood. They were disgusted with the Brotherhood's incompetence, fed up with its version of radical Islam and increasingly worried that Morsi was setting himself up as a dictator.
And what are we doing now? We are telling the Egyptian people that they must negotiate with Morsi and his radical gang. In the process Obama is turning the most pro-Western segments of Egyptian society against America, as if we needed any more enemies in the Middle East.
John Kerry (and I can't believe I'm writing this) got it right when he said that by removing Morsi, the Egyptian military was effectively "restoring democracy." By the way, the reason the Muslim Brotherhood was banned in Egypt was because of its support for terrorism, including the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Al-Sadat in 1981.
A military government is not necessarily the worst thing, especially if the alternative is an elected civilian government that wants to do great evil. Would anyone have shed a tear if the German military had stepped in and removed Adolf Hitler in the 1930s?
SPLC Displays Its Own Bigotry
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) began as a decent organization fighting bigotry and racism. Unfortunately it has since become one of the most vitriolic, anti-Christian organizations on the left. In recent years, it has labeled pro-family organizations such as the American Family Association and the Family Research Council "hate groups" equivalent to the KKK.
You may recall that a homosexual rights activist attempted to carry out a mass shooting at the Family Research Council last year. Floyd Lee Corkins shot a security guard, Leo Johnson, in the arm. But Johnson's heroic actions prevented far worse. After his arrest, Corkins told FBI agents that he selected FRC as his target based on the list of hate groups on the SPLC's website.
Last week CNSNews.com confronted SPLC co-founder Morris Dees about its hate map and equating traditional values with hate. Dees demonstrated zero remorse for what happened at FRC.
Not only that, Dees doubled down. He attacked the Catholic Church, saying, "The Catholic Church is against people who are gay," and said that FRC was on the hate list because "of the demonstrably false things they say about people that are just total lies that demean gay people."
Unfortunately, the SPLC has managed to present itself as a credible organization. Its material is used in the military. We have seen it in the public schools. Keep an eye out for it. Unless people really understand the SPLC's anti-religious, left-wing agenda, it is easy to fall for its deceptive messaging.
More Obamacare Blunders
One of the most compelling arguments for health care reform was the spiraling cost of health insurance. Unfortunately, Obamacare isn't the solution.
Based on its analysis of published rates, Investor's Business Daily reports, "The average price for the lowest-cost ObamaCare 'bronze' plan in eight states is 122% higher than the cheapest plan currently available in those states."
Nevertheless, the countdown for the Obamacare rollout has begun. With just 54 days left until the state exchanges are set to open for business, Reuters reports that the federal government is "months behind in testing data security" for the exchanges.
The article goes on to note, "The most likely serious security breach would be identity theft, in which a hacker steals the social security numbers and other information people provide when signing up for insurance."
These sorts of Big Government blunders are not unexpected. But there are unconfirmed reports of another possible blunder that could have huge political implications.
There are rumors in Washington that the GOP establishment has agreed not to use Obama's congressional Obamacare exemption as a campaign issue in the 2014 election. If true, then GOP elites have once again earned the nickname "The Stupid Party."
I know that among our readership there are quite a few elected officials as well as some who may run for office. I hear fairly regularly from folks seeking support from this political action committee.
Just so we don't waste anybody's time, don't bother asking for our support unless you believe:
That marriage is between a man and a woman;
That all of our children should be welcomed into the world and protected by the law;
Big government and high taxes are bad for the economy;
In a common-sense approach to immigration reform that puts border security first;
In a strong American/Israeli alliance;
In repealing of Obamacare; and
That we must end the long-standing, hypocritical practice of those governing us living under a different set of rules than the ones they make for the rest of us.

The decision reflected both U.S. anger over Russia's harboring of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and growing frustration within the Obama administration over what it sees as Moscow's stubbornness on other key issues, including missile defense and human rights. Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there. Instead of visiting Putin in Moscow, the president will add a stop in Sweden to his early September travel itinerary. White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes said Russia's decision last week to defy the U.S. and grant Snowden temporary asylum only exacerbated an already troubled relationship. And with few signs that progress would be made during the Moscow summit on other agenda items, Rhodes said the president decided to cancel the talks. "We'll still work with Russia on issues where we can find common ground, but it was the unanimous view of the president and his national security team that a summit did not make sense in the current environment," Rhodes said.

Yesterday, the military finally began the court-martial of Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who murdered 14 innocents at Ft. Hood in 2009. The White House has claimed this act of terrorism was "workplace violence." Michelle Malkin reminds us of three facts that have been forgotten since the shooting.
This week, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, bought the Washington Post. Putting aside the questions about the future of the paper itself, what does the sale of the newspaper mean to the media elite in Washington? Michael Walsh has the story.
Edward Snowden is in the process of putting down stakes in Russia (doesn't quite have the same allure as the American frontier, does it?). With the Russians and the Chinese both anxious to get their hands on the information Snowden possesses, where is the possibly the safest place for him to be - safest as in safest for the United States? Right here at home, free from prosecution, argues Robert Zubrin.
And, Jonah Goldberg examines the myth of the GOP's isolationism. Isolationism, in American history, has been bipartisan, and the isolationist tendencies of today's libertarian Republicans and yesterday's Old Right are vastly overrated. There's a debate to be had on America's foreign policy, but bandying about the term "isolationism" isn't likely to be productive or solve our current problems around the globe.

Something Worth Loving About Washington, Part Two: A City of Transplants.
Perhaps cities of transplants aren't as rare as they used to be, as we become a more transient culture.
But if there are large chunks of the country you may never get the chance to visit, the next best thing is to have a friend from there. There are people born and bred in the Washington area, but they're surprisingly hard to find. My old post-college crowd featured a Californian, a Texan, a Pittsburgher, a Philadelphian, an upstate New Yorker, a Canadian, a South Dakotan, two Floridians (one upstate, one Miami) and two New Jerseyans. It's amazing we could all understand each other.
If you go to a bar on a Sunday afternoon in the D.C. area, you will find a section of Redskins fans - but then you'll also find almost every other team represented, depending upon the size of the establishment. You see somebody with your team's jersey, you start talking, and you've made a friend. Sure, you're not from around here, but neither is everyone else. Washington is pretty welcoming of outsiders because most of us were outsiders.
The same is true for college football, baseball, college basketball - everybody comes here with their hometown loyalties, and it's instant, easy conversation starter

It has been fun to sit back and watch the liberal obsession with identity and gender politics intrude on the selection of the next chair of the Federal Reserve. The two leading candidates are Janet Yellen, currently at the San Francisco Fed, and Lawrence Summers, the liberal renaissance man who has been Treasury Secretary, president of Harvard, and lots of other things. Conservatives do not really have a dog in this fight and are close to indifferent: both Yellen and Summers are respected, with a slight edge perhaps going to Summers, as Yellen is seen as a monetary "dove" who is more likely than Summers to lead us into a return of ruinous inflation.
Sssh! Don't remind anyone of my time at Harvard.
Naturally there is a vocal faction among liberals demanding that Obama must choose Yellen because she's a woman. It also helps that Summers has a reputation for being something of a jerk. (I heard he was delighted by the portrayal of him as brusque and direct in The Social Network. And anyone who can send Cornel West packing from Harvard can't be all bad.) Women have complained (with good reason apparently) that Obama's economic team is an "old boys club" where women are marginalized-even very accomplished women like Christina Romer. (What was that again about a "War on Women"? Never mind.) And of course Summers was drummed out of Harvard for speaking candidly about possible differences in the number of men and women with high level ability in math.
So I wonder if it helps Summers's chances that he's received a ringing endorsement from Cass Sunstein?
The mission of the Federal Reserve Board is to help to increase employment, to promote economic growth and stable prices, and to protect consumers. For its next chairman, Obama has some extraordinary candidates, but no one knows more about how to carry out that mission than Larry Summers.
This might be enough to get Glenn Beck to back Yellen. The environmental left has long disliked Summers from a single comment he made more than 20 years ago. The infamous "Summers memo" written while he was chief economist at the World Bank even has its own Wikipedia entry. Here's the beginning of the offending passage:
'Dirty' Industries: Just between you and me, shouldn't the World Bank be encouraging MORE migration of the dirty industries to the LDCs [Least Developed Countries]? I can think of three reasons. . .
Worse, in 2008 Summers attached the following comment to a report on climate change policy:
[T]he costs of addressing climate change are highly uncertain, but I remain concerned that many policymakers do not sufficiently appreciate how large these uncertainties are or the consequences of paying them insufficient attention. Environmental certainty enjoys much attention while uncertainty over the cost of cutting emissions receives too little. This balance is wrong, particularly in the short term, since emissions in any given year matter little, while high costs, even for a short period, can cause substantial economic harm, particularly to the most vulnerable.
The left also dislikes Cass Sunstein, because he's said nice things about cost-benefit analysis, and, believe it or not, actually put the brakes on some proposed regulations from the regulation-happy Obama Administration in his first-term post as head of the Office of Independent Regulatory Analysis (OIRA) in the OMB. So does Sunstein's support really help Summers? Some lefties are already saying that Sunstein's column is one more reason to support Yellen.
I expect one more strike will kill off Summers chances. If someone finds out he's said nice things about the Keystone XL pipeline, it will all be over.

Obama identified Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville as Gulf ports:
I assume that if he thought about it for a moment, Obama would realize that South Carolina and Georgia are not on the Gulf of Mexico (nor is Jacksonville, although Obama may not know that). So one could say that this is a mere verbal flub, as opposed to some of Obama's Howard Zinn-style historical errors, which he likely actually believes. But it is one of many. Forced to improvise without his teleprompter, Obama is a gaffe machine.
UPDATE: The Associated Press covered for Obama by changing the quote so it wouldn't sound stupid. Seriously.

The NY Times: Start the Countdown Clock

I'm not sure I completely agree with John that Jeff Bezos can be relied upon to be a down-the-line liberal as the new owner of the Washington Post in the same way as Chris Hughes, the Silicon Valley Obama-worshipper who bought The New Republic. People have combed Bezos's political activity and statements to deliver a mixed picture, but one deed stands out: Bezos broke with Bill Gates in giving six figures to defeat a Washington state ballot initiative to increase income taxes on high income earners establish a state income tax. [ERRATUM: Washington has no state income tax at the moment.] (Gates had supported the measure.) And whatever else you may say about the cultural liberalism of the Silicon Valley world, raising income taxes is always the first priority of contemporary progressivism. (And Bezos has apparently contributed to the Reason Foundation, a sign of some libertarian sympathies.) My expectation is that Bezos will do too little to change the Post, and will allow the liberal inmates to continue to run the asylum until the Post has no readers left at all.
More interesting is the discreet silence among all the media analysts about the obvious question: how long until the Sulzberger family follows the Graham family (who followed the Bancroft family in selling the Wall Street Journal) in selling the New York Times while it's still worth something? Does anyone really think the Graham family wanted to sell the Post? Of course not. It was the cornerstone of their social status and clout. (As Post columnist Ruth Marcus put it without the slightest trace of self-awareness: "Their identity is so inextricably bound up with that of the newspaper, and the newspaper with that of the Graham family, it is - or at least it was until Monday afternoon - unimaginable to consider the two as separate entities." Also this: "My e-mail has been buzzing, my phone ringing, with family, friends, government officials, asking the same question: Are you okay? They don't mean economically. They mean emotionally. The answer: Not really." Yes, Ruth, because it's all about you. Also: sympathetic e-mails from "government officials"? Yeah, we're not cozy with our sources here at the Post, are we Ruth? That's some real adversarial journalism for ya.)
But social status and clout go out the window if you're not rich any more. The Post would surely have sold for a billion dollars as recently as a decade ago, instead of this week's $250 million. A decade from now, it could be worth as little as Newsweek, which the Grahams once owned and sold for $1.
If you think Liberalworld is upset about the Post leaving the fold of the Rich Liberal Establishment (keep in mind that while Bezos may be a liberal of some sort, he's just not a member in good standing of the Acela Corridor Club), imagine the rending of garments that will happen when the Times is sold.
If by some chance the Sulzberger family waits too long and can only sell the Times at a fire sale price to the Koch brothers, mass suicide will ensue. Someone needs to start the Times Sale Countdown Clock. Fun times (pun intended) ahead.

The Terror Alert: Even the Media Are Starting to Get It

We've noted here before the possibility that Al Qaeda's current "chatter" is disinformation, or a deliberate manipulation of our current terror protocols. Whatever happened to, "If we do 'X,' the terrorists win"? Well, we're cowering around the world right now.
The National Journal's security correspondent Sara Sorcher takes note of this today, in "Al Qaeda's Won This Round-So Far":
Not only is it very unusual that a senior, Pakistan-based Qaida leader would discuss operational matters-including the timing for an attack-with affiliates, but U.S. officials were "stunned" the group spoke knowing the conversation would be picked up by intercepts, as ABC News reports.
[Comment: You're only "stunned" if you're asleep to the possibility of deliberate manipulation, as Angelo Codevilla argued.]
Perhaps Zawahiri has learned a little too much. Now more than ever, with the recent National Security Agency online and phone surveillance disclosures published and debated widely, terrorists can know for sure that the U.S. is tracking their electronic communications. They used them anyway - to their advantage. Of course, it's impossible to tell from outside government whether operatives using communications lines was actually a sign of a top-down directive or simply a head fake; U.S. officials clearly believe they intercepted what they believe is a credible threat and are working to prevent it from happening.
Even so, al-Qaida is winning the information war. Despite foreboding reports, there has been no large-scale attack, yet al-Qaida is reaping the benefits of a free public-relations boost as news reports swirl about an impending "strategically significant" plot, possibly through surgically implanted devices.
Let me modify the post-9/11 cliche: when a country elects an unserious government, the terrorists win.

After attacking Bill O'Reilly's history last week, I'll defend his sociology this week. On Monday, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell ridiculed Fox News' O'Reilly for saying that single motherhood is responsible for the the high black crime rate.
O'Reilly said, quite correctly: "The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African-American family. Right now, about 73 percent of all black babies are born out of wedlock. That drives poverty. And the lack of involved fathers leads to young boys growing up resentful and unsupervised. And it has nothing to do with slavery. It has everything to do with you Hollywood people and you derelict parents."

Obama: End Fannie and Freddie, but Keep Government in Housing Business
President Obama lent his voice today to the growing consensus in Washington that federally sponsored housing giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac must go. While this is a welcome stance, he also called for new government guarantees for the housing finance market, which would only perpetuate the dangerous taxpayer subsidy that helped lead to the housing crisis in the first place.
The speech comes nearly five years after federal taxpayers bailed out the two housing government-sponsored enterprises, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, providing some $154 billion in funds that are only now being repaid. The President promises an end to the "business model" that led to the collapse, calling for Fannie and Freddie's investment portfolios to be wound down at a rate of 15 percent per year, stating that "private capital should take a bigger role in the mortgage market.

Obamacare's Menu Labeling Law: The Food Police Are Coming
Obamacare requires restaurant chains to provide caloric and other nutritional information to customers on standard menu items. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is implementing this provision, could finalize its menu labeling rule this fall or even sooner.

Expiration of Trade Preference Program Means Higher Prices
On July 31, the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) expired. GSP is a program that waives tariffs on thousands of products that Americans import from developing countries. In 2012, the program reduced tariffs by $742 million. As House Ways and Means chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) observed, "GSP provides important benefits to U.S. manufacturers and consumers and supports more than 80,000 American jobs."
As a result of GSP expiring, tariffs will be imposed on products ranging from car parts to jewelry. Increasing taxes on these products means higher prices for the Americans who buy them.

Flashing Headlights as a Felony: Why Helping Reduce Crime Shouldn't Be Criminal
Most people have probably done it. Some, if pressed, might concede that it isn't the right thing to do. But most people wouldn't think it was a felony, and would be aghast at the idea.
And that's the problem.
Missouri resident Michael Elli wanted to let fellow motorists know about the presence of a "speed trap" under an overpass, set up by the police to target reckless drivers. To communicate that they needed to "slow down," lest they be pulled over, he flashed his lights.
For this act, Elli was pulled over and charged with obstruction of justice. Yes, really.
To be sure, the police have an interest in maintaining secrecy in certain activities. Individuals who enable career criminals to escape justice by disclosing the existence of, or interfering with, police investigations are rightly arrested and punished for doing so.
But Elli wasn't deliberately enabling career criminals. Rather, he was encouraging his fellow citizens to slow down-regardless of whether they were habitual leadfoots or had a momentary lapse.

It's true that speed traps would ensnare more people if Elli and similarly minded citizens did not draw attention to them.
While reducing the number of speeders may affect the number of speeding tickets that are issued, the purpose of the speed trap-and, indeed, law enforcement more generally-isn't for cops to have things to do. It's to prevent people from breaking the law and punishing them when they do.
Moreover, it's not inherently or obviously wrong to caution motorists to avoid activities that will get them pulled over. While prosecutors eventually dropped the case against Elli, it's disturbing that this happened in the first place.
Activities that most have engaged in (and certainly would not imagine would be illegal) should not be criminal if the criminal law is to have any relation to social expectations.

They are going to lose and in the process add more embarrassment for the Church that has already experienced more than enough avoidable, large scandals in recent years.

AFA to Air Force leaders - We want a meeting

This week, your American Family Association sent a letter to the U.S. Air Force asking for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the military branches' recent string of anti-Christian hostilities against chaplains, officers and enlisted men who publicly share their faith. The letter to Air Force Secretary Eric Fanning noted that "on April 23, 2013, Air Force and Pentagon representatives met with Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) President Michael Weinstein," thus, "the Pentagon should hear from all concerned," which includes Christian-based organizations like AFA. Our request follows a strongly-worded letter from 53 members of Congress to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, questioning why the Air Force would grant a private meeting with Weinstein, whose organization urged the military branch to begin a "cleansing" of any public expression of the Christian faith in the military. For example, after receiving a phone call from Weinstein last month, the commander of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska censored an essay by a base chaplain entitled "No Atheists in Foxholes: Chaplains Gave All in World War II." Within hours, on Weinstein's demand, the commander ordered the essay removed from the base website. The bottom line is this: We believe the Air Force is taking anti-Christian directives from a civilian atheist. And just like Congress, we want to know why. The Air Force bent over backwards to meet with Weinstein, bringing in high ranking officers like the Judge Advocate General, Deputy Inspector General, Deputy Chief of Chaplains, Director of Air Force Equal Opportunity and other staff members.
