'Million Muslim March' Sept. 11th 2013
Thursday, January 31, 2013 6:09
Everyone knows that AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, is the most powerful lobby in Washington.
But starting next September 11th, a new group called AMPAC, the American Muslim Political Action Committee, will challenge AIPAC's stranglehold on American political life.
AMPAC will be forcefully announcing its presence with a "Million Muslim March" on the White House on September 11, 2013. The goal, announced at AMPAC's press conference in New York:
"We at AMPAC (American Muslim Political Action Committee) are planning a historic event for 9/11/13. One million Muslims will march to Washington D.C. and demand that our civil rights be protected by our government. We are demanding that laws be enacted protecting our First Amendment rights. We are asking President Obama to fulfill his promise from his first campaign for the Presidency of a transparent government. Lastly we are asking for the establishment of a real 9/11 Commission to reveal the truth to the American people."
I'm assuming that this is gong to rile up alot of people. So much so this may not even happen. This could be a potentially very volitile event. We will have to wait and see what conservatives decide to do about this. -Mort
NEW BENGHAZI DETAILS REVEALED IN BOMBSHELL CNN REPORT:'UNPRECEDENTED' EFFORT UNDERWAY TO KEEP SECRETS FROM LEAKING
The CIA is polygraphing its operatives on a regular basis in an "unprecedented" effort to prevent Benghazi secrets from leaking out, CNN's Drew Griffin is reporting, citing unnamed inside sources.
"Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency's missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency's workings," the bombshell report reveals. "The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress."

More from CNN:
It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.
In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, "You don't jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well."
Another says, "You have no idea the amount of pressure being brought to bear on anyone with knowledge of this operation."
The CIA responded to CNN's report in a statement, claiming it "enabled all officers involved in Benghazi the opportunity to meet with Congress," according to Jake Tapper.
It has also been revealed that as many 35 Americans were in Benghazi on the night of the deadly terror attack, CNN reports, citing anonymous inside sources. As many as seven were wounded and 21 Americans were reportedly working in the building known as the CIA annex.
On October 1st, millions of Americans will be required to enroll in Obamacare and could lose access to their doctors and be forced to pay higher premiums and higher taxes. But there's still time to stop it. Republicans in Congress can stop Obamacare if they refuse to fund it.
"This is the last opportunity we're going to have to stop Obamacare before the January 1 deadline so we have to refuse to fund it now."- U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT)
Ted Cruz
"We can de-fund Obamacare if Republican leaders who tell their constituents they're conservative stand up and act like they're conservative."- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

The Mercury, March 8, reported that Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, will be letting its membership in ICLEI (International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives), lapse due to constituent pressure and dislike for ICLEI's message, Agenda 21.
Montgomery County commissioners learned what that meant at a recent meeting held in the county seat, Norristown, when local residents, Maggie Roddin and Ruth Miller charged the county commissioners with being in league with the U.N. to promote that organizations global warming agenda.
Montgomery, and surrounding counties, including neighboring Philadelphia County, joined in 2007 for, like many other communities, the purpose of buying software to calculate the county's carbon footprint. ICLEIs mission is to help local governments achieve global sustainability, according to the organizations charter. Edmond, Oklahoma joined for the same reason but the city recently rejected its membership, partly because local residents learned that a citys agreement to that same charter places the city under the jurisdiction of the ICLEI.
At the Norristown meeting, Commissioner Joseph Hoeffel, amused at Roddins and Millers allegations, said, The only thing I laugh at is absurd allegations that the county has a treaty with the United Nations or a treaty with a foreign government.
But across the country, in Edmond, a grassroots effort, Govern Edmond Locally (GEL) came up against the same denials from its city officials. GEL found it quite easy to connect ICLEI membership with the United Nations and has issued its 3 Click Challenge, available on its website, to warn residents of the U.N. connection. Residents of other cities already embroiled with Agenda 21, or in those communities considering it, find the easy to understand Challenge a useful tool in combating the misinformation circulating about sustainability by making the connection in three mouse clicks.
In spite of Commissioner Hoeffel's claims of no U.N. affiliation, the website of Montgomery County, which received $6.2 million in stimulus funds, reveals that
the Greenprint plan found on the county's website, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, formed by the U.N. in 1988 to study global climate change, provides broad evidence that global climate change is a reality, and that human activity appears to be altering the climate by increasing atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases.

Coal state legislators took a carrot and stick approach to the Obama administration's so-called "war on coal" Thursday when a bipartisan West Virginia delegation went to the White House to plead it's case with new EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, saying regulations are strangling the industry.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., left the meeting feeling encouraged. "I thought the meeting was very, very respectful, and it was very direct," he said. "That was what it was supposed to be. It was very productive, too. "
At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, the House Science Committee was playing hardball with the new EPA chief -- threatening to issue subpoenas for data behind the tough new "source performance standards" for greenhouse gases.
Some suspect the data was politicized. Over the last 20 months, the committee sent six requests for the data and all were ignored.
The committee letter asks, "If the EPA has nothing to hide, why not provide this information to the Congress and the American people?"
It adds, "In light of EPA's steadfast refusal to cooperate, we are writing to inform you that failure to provide the requested documents will result in a subpoena to ensure disclosure."
A spokesperson for Republican Nancy Mace, who is already being billed as a Tea Party favorite, confirmed to TheBlaze on Thursday that she plans to challenge Graham for his Senate seat in the 2014 Republican primary. She plans to make a "special announcement" about her run at the Berkeley County GOP Breakfast on Saturday.
The spokesperson said the campaign will be releasing more information and Mace will be doing interviews following the formal announcement.
Mace is the first woman to graduate from The Citadel, a military college in the Palmetto State. She is also a wife, mother and small business owner from Goose Creek, S.C. According to her campaign website, she is the proud daughter of retired Army Brigadier Gen. Emory Mace.
Watch Netanyahu Throw Down With an Arab Lawmaker Over Who Was in the Holy Land First
The Blaze | Sharona Schwartz | Aug. 1, 2013 1:26pm
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video on Facebook Thursday showing a verbal spat between him and an Arab Member of Knesset that took place the night before over which people inhabited the Holy Land first - the Jews or the Palestinians.
He headlined the video, "The Conflict in Under a Minute."
The exchange began when Member of Knesset Jamal Zahalka who heads the progressive Balad Party (National Democratic Assembly) rejected Jewish claims to the Holy Land, saying "We [Palestinians] were here before you. I was here before you. And we will still be here after you."
Other Members of Knesset are seen in the audience protesting Zahalka.
Netanyahu then approached the podium and said, "I did not plan to speak, but I heard Member of Knesset Zahalka's statement. You said, 'We were here before you and we'll be here after you're gone.' The first part is not true and the second part will never happen."
Tennessee Newspaper Opinion Editor Fired Over Headline Critical of Obama - He Gives Us the Inside Story
The Blaze | Jason Howerton | Aug. 1, 2013 2:17pm
The opinion page editor at the Chattanooga Times Free Press has been fired over a headline of an editorial that was highly critical of President Barack Obama's new "jobs plan."
"Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough," the headline reads.
(See Article for update)
Drew Johnson, the now-former opinion page editor at the Free Press, announced his firing on Twitter Thursday and later explained the situation in an exclusive interview with TheBlaze.
"I just became the first person in the history of newspapers to be fired for writing a paper's most-read article," Johnson wrote.

Actor Mark Wahlberg takes on the lead role as Luttrell, who found himself stranded and surrounded by enemy forces after they ambushed his team in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan:

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GODS AND GENERALS AND GETTYSBURG COMES THE LIBERTY MOVIE OF THE YEAR
RON MAXWELL'S COPPERHEAD
For anyone who reveres and believes in the preservation of the Constitution of the United States, Copperhead is a must see this summer!
Copperhead is unlike any Civil War movie to date. It is a film of the war at home - of a family ripped apart by war, of a community driven to an appalling act of vengeance against a man who insists on exercising his right to free speech during wartime. A story of the violent passions and burning feuds that set ablaze the homefront during the Civil War, Copperhead the movie is also a timeless and deeply moving examination of the price of dissent, the place of the individual amidst the hysteria of wartime, and the terrible price of war - a cost measured not in dollars but in fractured families, broken loves, and men dead before their time.
Based on the extraordinary novel by Harold Frederic, who witnessed these conflicts firsthand as a small child, Copperhead tells the story of Abner Beech, a stubborn and righteous farmer of Upstate New York, who defies his neighbors and his government in the bloody and contentious autumn of 1862.
COMMON CORE:
WHAT'S IN STORE FOR OUR CHILDREN?
We'd like to extend a special invitation for you to attend an open meeting covering Common Core
hosted by the Coaltion for Advancing Freedom:
Tuesday, August 13, 2013
The Red Clay Room, 423 Dalmatian Street, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, 19348, USA
Doors open at 6:00pm. Program begins promptly at 6:45pm.
We encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors, teachers and PTO members, for this important program featuring two engaging subject-matter experts, Whitney Neal and Dr. Peg Luksik, followed by a Question & Answer Session.
Part 1- A Rigorous Assessment
Speaker: Dr. Peg Luksik Former candidate for PA Governor and US Senate
* * * * *
The first part of the evening will be a presentation by nationally-known education expert Dr. Peg Luksik, who will speak about the Common Core education standards and how they will affect you and your family. She'll cover what it is, how it came to be, why you may never have even heard of it, and why it is not a good idea for the children of Pennsylvania.
Part 2 - Making Education 'Common'
Speaker: Whitney Neal Director of Grassroots - FreedomWorks
* * * * *
In the second part of the program, grassroots activist and former 8th Grade U.S. History teacher Whitney Neal, will cover how the Common Core's 'homogenized' approach treats every child exactly the same, regardless of their individual needs, strengths, or career goals, and how this untested program can only result in a consistent standard of mediocrity.
Part 3 - Question & Answers
What We Can Do: As Parents, Teachers, School Board Members and Administrators
* * * * *
The third part of the evening will be a Question & Answer Session focused on what we can do. Especially because, to date, we parents, teachers, PTOs and PTAs, school boards, administrators, and concerned citizens have had no say in the matter.
The Federal Government effectively 'bribed' the State apparatus to adopt the Common Core using federal stimulus money, and they did so 'behind the scenes' without any significant public debate. There hasn't been any means testing to ensure that the standards are successful in the classroom. Finally, only 1 out of 60 content experts who reviewed the Common Core were teachers, and no proof was provided that their feedback was received, or their changes reflected in the final standards.
Twitter handle for use before, during, and after the August 13 program: @CAF4PA
Please RSVP HERE ASAP so that we have a good attendance estimate.
Feel free to invite those that you know need to hear more about Common Core.
And please note that Moms are the constituency aligning most against it.
Working to secure the blessings of Liberty.
VALLEY FORGE PATRIOTS AUGUST 9TH MEETING
PHOENIXVILLE SENIOR CENTER
7:00 PM TO 9:00 PM
THIS WILL BE A WORKING MEETING. BE PREPARED TO HAVE A LITTLE WRITER'S CRAMP.
Common Core is a huge issue for our schools and students as well as the taxpayers. The cost of implementing Common Core Standards (CCS) in PA will be $650 million or more over seven years at a time when we are facing a severe pension crisis. The PA legislature was bypassed when PA signed on to the CCS. There is no evidence that this costly and transformational initiative will result in better learning outcomes. In addition, we believe that we will lose local control over our school boards and over the education of our students.
For our August meeting we will have a Common Core post card writing blitz and we urge you all to join in the effort. VFP will supply pre-stamped post cards, as well as bullet points to write and addresses of legislators. This is a nationwide effort that we are coordinating with Pennsylvanians Against Common Core.
It is most important that we contact and continue to contact legislators since this Common Core initiative is already being implemented. Of course, the leftist teachers unions will be spaming mail, probably on the clock as usual. If you have kids, grandkids, neices and nephews you need to care about this. Hope to see you there with your writing utensils.
Gun Control groups like Mayor Bloombergs CeasefirePA are still pushing hard to further "question" our right to Keep and Bear Arms! Just this week CeasefirePA testified at the PA Judiciary Committee hearing on HB1010 to expand background checks (next step towards registration). And the Bloomberg anti-gun bus tour continues across the USA with a likely stop in PA in the next 60 days. The recent Zimmerman trial verdict has given these anti-liberty groups a renewed energy to pass more incremental gun control laws.
This battle for our rights needs YOU to stay involved. CGOPA is an all-volunteer grassroots group of citizens, we are your friends and neighbors. There is a core group of 13 and we are always looking for more help! We need people to help coordinate legislative action and develop a formal membership framework. Please email concernedgunowners@gmail.com to get involved!
Even if you can't help directly, please continue to support our cause by showing up to one of our upcoming events.

It is my privilege to invite you to a special event featuring Guy Rodgers, Executive Director of ACT! for America. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the following location:
Elmer Grange Hall 535 Daretown Road Elmer, NJ 08318 Tuesday, September 3rd at 7 pm
Guy has been my right hand since I founded ACT! for America in 2007. He is a compelling, dynamic public speaker who combines a deep knowledge of the threat of radical Islam with nearly three decades of strategic and communications experience in the political world.
The result is extraordinary-and something you don't want to miss.
The Boston Marathon bombing was a painful reminder that the threat of jihad is always lurking just beneath the surface. Unfortunately, we can't just wish it away or turn a blind eye to it. Whether that threat is the violent kind of jihad we saw in Boston or on 9/11, or the "stealth" kinds of jihads that is the primary weapon of the Muslim Brotherhood, we must be informed and have the tools with which to fight it effectively.
Here are just some of the aspects of this threat Guy will discuss:
The worldwide effort to muzzle free speech-and how our own government is assisting this effort.
Homegrown jihad.
Terrorists infiltrating our borders.
The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America.
Pro-Islamic bias and indoctrination in our public school textbooks.
But perhaps even more importantly, you will learn how ACT! for America is successfully rolling back the tide of radical Islam...how we are winning legislative victories...how we don't have to live in fear or resign ourselves to the inevitability of the threats arrayed against us...and how we will prevail.
I encourage you to forward this email to everyone you know. I know you will leave this event not only educated, but inspired.
So please come and invite your friends to this ACT! for America event in Elmer, NJ, on Tuesday, September 3rd. You'll be glad you did.
Yours for a Safe and Free America,
Brigitte Gabriel
In the wake of the Supreme Court's marriage decisions, the movement to uphold America's core principles heads to the states, where challenges to state laws and local communities' religious liberties will surely open up in coming months.
How can citizens strategize and get the tools to effectively make the case for life, marriage, and religious liberty? Are conservative groups working together? Get the answers at Values Voter Summit 2013 >>
On October 11-13, Values Voter Summit 2013 will bring together thousands of Americans to tackle issues impacting our freedoms, families, national security, and values. In "Responding to the Tough Questions on Marriage, Religious Liberty, and More," Heritage's Jennifer Marshall, along with Adèle Keim of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, will tackle tough questions conservatives often hear, such as "Isn't it pro-family to expand who can get married?" and "Do conservatives care about the poor?"
Heritage will also host "How America Provides Opportunity for All: Stories and Solutions" to explore the truth of upward mobility in America. Matthew Spalding, author of We Still Hold These Truths, and Bishop Shirley Holloway, founder ofHouse of Help/City of Hope, will reveal how government redistribution runs counter to our Founders' wisdom and what the real solutions are to breaking the cycle of poverty. Get more details on breakout sessions >>
Students are also a vital part of this year's event. They will have exclusive opportunities to interact with speakers, including a Friday night mixer. In a casual interactive setting, Ryan Anderson of Heritage-famed for his CNN face-off with Piers Morgan-and the Family Research Council's Peter Sprigg will help young adults develop intellectually honest answers to what friends are asking on sexuality, relationships, and why marriage matters.
Between sessions, all attendees can receive complimentary materials and speak directly with dozens of conservative groups, including Christians United for Israel, Liberty Counsel, Students for Life, Leadership Institute, and Let Freedom Ring. Plus there's much more, from networking to new initiatives by the leaders you trust.

From a trusted friend:
As some of you may know, I am associated with Coventry Christian Schools as a parent of a graduate (2010) and as member of the Board of Trustees. Last October we spent a wonderful evening honoring Mark Niehls at our revitalized Founder's Dinner and celebrated our shared heritage in the remarkable community that is Coventry Christian Schools. Our vision for future Founder's Dinners is to inspire and inform not only our alumni and current CCS families but to inspire and inform the Tri-County Area and even our region by hosting speakers and artists who can uniquely assist us in celebrating the heritage, core values, and mission of CCS while also lifting our vision for an even greater future built upon the foundation of our past. The caliber of our speakers and guest artists should provide us with wonderful opportunities to share our CCS story with new partners in Christian education. Proceeds from the dinner will be applied to our annual Coventry Kids Fund for CCS scholarships.
This year we are proud to announce that our distinguished guest and speaker is Dr. Benjamin Carson, and our dinner's theme is "Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Faith in American Schools." Please join us as we welcome Dr. Carson to the Tri-County Area and celebrate the great things God is doing at CCS!
Dr. Carson is a highly regarded neurosurgeon and motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences across the country. He is one of the most honored and recognized physicians in the world and holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees along with hundreds of awards and citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is the author of five books and is the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. The 2009 award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. Dr. Carson is an authentic disciple of Christ, has been married to his wife Candy for more than 37 years, and is the father of three sons.
The 2013 Founder's Dinner, which will once again be a part of our Homecoming festivities, will be held at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown on Sunday, October 13th, 2013. Doors will open at 4:30pm, followed by dinner at 5:15. Dress will be business/professional. Tickets will be priced at $100 until May 15th, then will be $125, so reserve your tickets for the reduced price.
Due to Dr. Carson's international reputation and recent prominence in the media, including his recent speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, we fully anticipate that this event will sell out quickly once advertised to the public. Tickets go on sale to the public April 15. If you are interested in attending, tickets can be purchased online. I will send the link out to those who wish to go on April 15

Dear FrontPage Reader, Each year, we invite the nation's leading conservative lawmakers, thinkers, and writers to join us in Palm Beach, Florida, for the David Horowitz Restoration Weekend. Held at The Breakers-one of the most beautiful resorts on the east coast-this retreat offers an unparalleled opportunity to relax and renew our dedication to our conservative values and preserving liberty.
This year's Restoration Weekend, which will be held November 14-17, promises to be the greatest yet. Dr. Ben Carson, Monica Crowley, Richard Grenell, David Horowitz, and Steve Moore are already confirmed to speak and we expect to add many more great conservatives to this list as we get closer.
I won't lie-attending the weekend is not cheap. And I know this has deterred many people throughout the years. That's why the Freedom Center will be covering all the costs for a lucky supporter and their guest to attend-roundtrip airfare, three nights at The Breakers, and admission to all of the retreat's programs, meals, and activities.
This special offer won't last long. We'll be selecting the winners on August 31-so make sure to enter today.
Thanks,
Michael Finch COO, David Horowitz Freedom Center
WHAT IS COMMON CORE?
Common Core, or the Common Core State Standards Initative (CCSSI), as it is known at the State and Federal level, is a set of national education standards that will fulfill the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, through a waiver system. (The NCLB Act was put into place by Congress in 2001 and signed into law by President George W. Bush). Many states were failing to meet the NCLB Act requirements and, therefore, wanted something to replace NCLB.Common Core is part of the UN's plan for complete federal control over our education systems and the "Dumbing-down" of America.
COMMON CORE IS A TROJAN HORSE AND TIED TO THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)
If you cannot see that Common Core is tied to the United Nations you have not done your homework! The major funder of the Common Core Movement is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has pledged $60 million dollars to this effort. Bill and Melinda Gates are tied to UN through-and-through and have spent money in America and overseas for UN programs in Africa and all over the world for decades.
From the Conservative Teachers of American organization, they wrote an article entitled: "Common Core Standards and the Federalization of Education." In this article we read: "Many are concerned that the Common Core Standards, once successfully implemented, will provide unfettered access of our educational system by the United Nations. Some textbooks and curricula for our public schools have already been written by the [United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization] UNESCO and the International Baccalaureate program, that is currently in many school districts, across the United States. Grabbing additional access is a natural next step. Once they write the curricula, they must have authority to develop all testing tools."
The UN involvement in the American educational system has already been facilitated by treaties signed by American presidents from both parties. Those documents include but are not limited to: Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Treaty on the Rights of the Child, Civic Education: Classroom Connections, and Agenda 21.
The US Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development (since 2003), is the nexus of the UNA-USA and Global Leadership Coalition at the Department of Education, which altogether leverages the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014. UNESCO, the lead agency of the Decade, defines Education for Sustainable Development as "education for everyone everywhere" for the "lifelong learning" of "present and future generations".
The UNA-USA sponsors Model UN across America and tailors its Global Classrooms curricula to whichever setting the kids happen to be participating. Children are unknowingly trained to respond with prescribed consensus to the situations, simulations and stimulation's of the particular activity (Delphi Technique). Global Kids is the CFR arm of Connect All Schools Consortium, a new Department of Education network, led by Independent Sector and The White House via United Planet Partners. Global Kids is preparing children for Agenda 21.
The White House, NSA and CIA now have website divisions aimed at kids. The Public Education Network is a national association funded by Independent Sector donors: plus Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Department of Education
From the Partnership for 21st Century Skills aligning the Common Core State Standards with "professional development" content for teachers and principals and Lego Robotics curricula for students (Carnegie Mellon/Lego Education); to software curricula through websites like: cyberschoolbus.un.org, icivics.org, atomiclearning.com, renlearn.org, brainpop.com and ttl4.sunburst.com; to the weekly deliveries of Time for Kids magazine and textbook curricula into classrooms; kids are programmed with UN-defined values. State Governors administer Federal funds to "Community-Oriented Policing" systems like Crime Stoppers (The UN, FBI and other law enforcement and corporate partners administer Crime Stoppers International), the local student-equivalent of the Department of Homeland Security's' "See Something, Say Something" campaign; whereby children see hand-drawn posters of child characters on school walls displaying "Eyes Looking", "Ears Listening", "Mouth Reporting" with a hotline to call. Presidents Bush and Obama have personally followed the George H. W. Bush/Clinton trail of the Agenda 21/ Sustainable America megabanks-maze in "bipartisan" fashion.
UNESCOPLEDGESSUPPORT OF COMMON CORE
From UNESCO's document "The Vision of Education Reform in the United States" it states: "My department has been pleased to partner with the US Agency for International Development to help ensure that our best domestic practices are shared world-wide. The United States provides over a billion dollars annually to partner countries working on educational reform. Our goal for the coming year will be to work closely with global partners, including UNESCO, to promote qualitative improvements and system strengthening....Ultimately, education is the great equalizer. It is the one force that can consistently overcome differences in background, culture, and privilege."
Principle #25- "Children and Youth in Sustainable Development." In the "Activites 25.9.d" it states: "Ensure access for all youth to all types of education, wherever appropriate, providing alternative learning structures, ensure that education reflects the economic and social needs of youth and incorporates the concepts of environmental training, implementing innovative methods aimed at increasing practical skills, such as environmental scouting."
Principle #36- "Promoting Education, Public Awareness and Training." In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5.g" we read: "Within two years the United Nations system should undertake a comprehensive review of its educational programmes, encompassing training and public awareness, to reassess priorites and reallocae resources. The UNESCO/UNEP International Environmental Education Programme should, in cooperation with the appropriate bodies of the United Nations system, Governments, non-governmental organizations and others, establish a porgramme within two years to integrate the decisions of the Conference into the existing United Nations framework adapted to the need of the educators at different levels and circumstances. Regional organizations and national authorities should be encouraged to elaborate similar parallel programmes and opportunies by conducting an analysis of how to mobilize different sectors of the population in order to assess and address their environmental and development education needs."
In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5 h" we read: "There is a need to strengthen, within five years, information exchange by enhancing technologies and capacities necessary to promote environment and development education and public awareness. Countries should cooperate with each other and with the various social sectors and population groups to prepare educational tools that include regional environment and development issues and initiatives, using learning materials and resources suited to their own requirements." Sounds just like PARCC and SLDS. ASU's Institute for Global Sustainability and their "Sustainable Cities Network" is doing a fine job "brain-washing" our students in our high schools on sustainability, global warming (aka climate change), etc. Go here to meet the ASU sustainability schools!
COMMON CORE SCIENCE STANDARDS TEACH GLOBAL WARMING!
Reality Check.....COMMON CORE EDUCATION = COMMUNISM IN AMERICA!
Common Core Education is the INDOCTRINATION of our CHILDREN.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT RHETORIC FROM MIKE HUCKABEE!!!
Reality Check- just in case you ever had a doubt......MIke Huckabee is a typical GOP Establishment person.
Mike Huckabee is now championing Common Core Education on Fox News for the GOP! How disgusting is that?!?!? "Mike Huckabee Urges Conservatives to Back Common Core Standards"
This is another reason why Constitutional Conservatives MUST leave the GOP and beware of what you hear on Fox News. Fox News continues to move to the left - to the liberal progressive side of issues. That is the very very sad but true fact. Mr. GOP Huckabee....."It's disturbing to me there have been criticisms of these standards directed by other conservatives including the RNC," Huckabee wrote. "The truth of the matter is, these criticisms are short-sighted." see attached article from Sunshine News. Send a message to Mr. GOP Huckabee at http://www.mikehuckabee.com/masterfeedback and send a loud message to the every more liberal progressive Fox News! Americans that believe in our Constitution must not be silent about this!
Do NOT let Fox News get away with promoting the very liberal progressive Common Core Education that promotes the ideology that American Children are Common/Community Property!
Do NOT let Fox News get away with promoting the loss of state's rights and the federal government taking over Education. WE NEED TO ABOLISH THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION - NOT EMPOWER IT!
If you support SOCIALISM AND COMMUNISM FOR THE U.S.A. then COMMON CORE EDUCATION IS FOR YOU. If you believe in the U.S.A. CONSTITUTION....then YOU WILL LOUDLY AND OPENLY REJECT AND OPPOSE COMMON CORE EDUCATION AND ANYONE THAT PROMOTES IT!!
Common Core Education is the indoctrination of American Children. This is NOT acceptable if you still believe in FREEDOM!!
The proponents of Common Core say that the standards ARE state led because they were developed by The National Governors' Association.
Well, perhaps this is true in a way that is very disturbing! Listen to this speech at the 1989 NGA conference on education (at 12:48).
The Development of Common Core, Explained by Michael Chapman
The video says this is a clip from the 1989 National Governors'Assoc conference on Education:
Sr. Director of Mid-Continental Regional Education Laboratory, Dr. Shirley McCune
She says about education:
#1) Total transformation of our society
#2) Teaching of facts and information (knowledge) is no longer the primary purpose of education
#3) Close connection between economic (sustainable) development and human capitol (human resource labor for a planned economy)
A group that allowed this kind of rhetoric to be said at their meeting? I don't think I want them developingeducational standards! Please read to the bottom for transcripts from the 1987 NGA meetings chaired by Bill Clinton. These transcripts are eye-opening. They are clearly more concerned with workers for the manufacturing. They seem to have concerns that we have students who can't read well enough (non-English speaking especially) to function in the manufacturing plants, and then on the other end of the spectrum... too many with higher ed degrees who don't WANT to work in the manufacturing. So... what to do about all this? Hummm.... standards! Make sure they read well enough to function as the industrial workers, but not so well that they don't want to!!! This is the John D. Rockefeller goal of the early 20th century when he started pushing for compulsory government schooling and funding the building of government schools.
NOW.... review the transcripts below of the conferences chaired by Bill Clinton: National Governor's Association website (find all annual meetings here with transcriptsm- ) 1986-87 NGA Chair Gov. Bill Clinton's Initiative
Making America Work: Productive People, Productive Policies
1987 Annual meeting.See page 34of this document to see how those governors seem to be concerned that we aren't training our students for the "workforce." They are concerned that the professors of higher ed are telling students to strive for more than the job of working in the manufacturing plants. On page 40 they start talking about standards needed in education. " See page 42 with this statement by Governor Sinner (great name!) to Lee Iacoccoa: "But you also made a point about the terrific cost to industry of the disparity between states in these regulations and I wondered, with all the fuss and the furor that we make over states' rights...." http://www.nga.org/files/live/sites/NGA/files/pdf/1987NGAAnnualMeeting.pdf
June 11, 2013: Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) leads the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee in a markup of the Strengthening America's Schools Act of 2013, an education initiative to replace No Child Left Behind. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/event/220036
At the June 10 Common Core forum in Fayette County, Superintendent Barge stated over and over again that if Georgia wants to change these standards at any time, we have the ability to do so.The testimony below contradicts this belief by Superintendent Barge and confirms that states who adopted the Common Core standards DO NOT have the ability to change the standards in any way on their own.
2:23:00 - Rep. Tim Scott discusses his amendment to Harkin's bill. Instead of states being forced to adopt blanket standards like Common Core as a prerequisite for funding, let's put decision-making back in the hands of parents and teachers in our communities."
2:31:00 - It is admitted that states who want to change the CC standards, the Secretary of Education would have to approve it. States DO NOT have the ultimate decision making abilities!
2:39:00 - Alexander reads page 89 of the bill stating that any changes to standards MUST go through the Secretary of Education for approval. As are most of the amendments offered by Republicans to this education bill, the Scott Amendment is defeated 12-10.
DATA COLLECTING: Senator Burr at the 1:00:00 mark reveals information about ADDITIONAL data points that this legislation will add to the data mining. He says that his count is now 500 data points.
TEACHER EVALUATIONS: Senator Alexander at 2:00:00 mark discusses his amendment to end federally mandated school and teacher evaluations. He says states had a "gun to their head" to adopt the teacher evaluations because they were desperate for NCLB waivers. He makes the charge that the Harkin bill creates a "NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD." The Gates Foundation involvement is mentioned frequently.
Harkin says over and over "this is voluntary." If states don't want to implement the programs in the bill we just don't accept the money!" More strong evidence that our states need to "just say no" to all federal education dollars. As is pointed out in this debate: Any private business that entered into a partnership where the partner who contributed 10% funding got 80-90% of the control (as is the case with education funding under NCLB and Common Core) the partnership is DOOMED TO FAIL!

Donna Holt from Campaign for Liberty has also written extensively on this issue and her research provided valuable information both to James Simpson and Right Side News, and most importantly, the citizens of Virginia to get them involved at the local level.
Sustainable Development is code for a policy designed to transform human society, essentially eliminating individual life decisions and replacing them with top - down, one-size-fits-all government control. In steady fashion, the agenda for this new policy, designed at the international level, is put into place piece by piece with a new government council here, and new regulation there, each designed to appear as a "local" development program. Like the proverbial frog in the slowly boiling pot, many Americans fail to notice the rise in government heat.
The main course of action to impose the new agenda is through the pretense of environmental protection; "Sorry about your rights, but if we don't save the planet, then we will all perish!" And so with the devastation of a thousand pin pricks, America and its form or government is being changed through the creation of non-elected boards, councils and regional governments, designed to enforce the new regulations and "assure that we protect the environment."
The pin pricks come disguised as such issues as controls on community development; controls on use of private property; controls on use of open space; creation of development areas, many times under the excuse of historic preservation; communities designed on the blue print of pack and stack housing; making it harder to drive as roads are narrowed, even forcing cars to share the road with bicycles; the enforcement of expensive mass transit boondoggle projects; and the never ending spending spree on inefficient, unworkable alternative energy, such as wind and solar power.
In fact, control of energy and water are the two most effective tools in the enforcement of the Sustainable Development agenda. Without energy and water, human society stops. Using strict controls on how, or even if, energy and water can be used provides government with the power to dictate every aspect of society.
ImmigrationCounters.com provides the key numbers and events related to illegal immigration in the United States. Using the latest government and private sources, research and analysis trending data is factored at their individual rates of increase. For information about the research behind the individual counters clickhere Data Sources. ImmigrationCounters.com supports legal immigration and respect for all humanity yet highlights the significant impact of illegal immigration in America.
ImmigrationCounters.com informs the public of the realities of illegal immigration while challenging the myths and misinformation surrounding it. After decades of passively watching this problem grow, most Americans are now more aware of the severity of this issue. Our government has demonstrated a complete lack of urgency to control illegal immigration both on the borders and within the interior. Because of this large failure that which traditionally had been the American way of welcoming immigration is now dividing the country because of one word, illegal. Opposing illegal immigration and wanting the laws enforced is not un-American. It is time to set the record straight on what is un-American, illegal is un-American.
The issue of illegal immigration doesn't need more laws, studies or debates, it needs leadership and enforcement. America doesn't need immigration reform, it needs leadership reform. Because our government has failed to enforce the existing immigration laws, why should anyone be confident they will do so with expanded immigration reform? Because of these failures, legislators have been addressing the problems at their local levels with bills to manage it incrementally, piece-by-piece, rather than trying to fix the national problem at once--an impossible task. What most Americans expect is to have our borders secure, enforcement of the existing laws within the interior, meaningful punishment of employers who hire illegally and removal of incentives such as birthright citizenships and public school enrollments without status verifications. We must also address the fact that we're soft on criminals caught in crimes and aren't deported. No other country would allow this to continue. 40% of them entered the country legally and overstayed their visas. Yet there's still no reliable method to verify if Visa overstays have left the country. Another incentive that must be addressed is the birthright citizenship program that has resulted in millions of children and parents receiving instant rights and benefits. Some have called them "GPS babies" and this certainly cannot be what the authors of the 14th Amendment intended to occur. Public housing and other benefits are provided for the illegal parents through their 'anchor children' while citizens are turned away because of limited resources. This antiquated program must end. Government agencies and officials at all levels must address the costs associated with this kind of abuse. Past mistakes have been made in attempts to fix illegal immigration and our communities can no longer afford these kinds of mistakes.
Barack Obama may dismiss them as "phony," but the NSA and IRS scandals are back in the headlines. News broke yesterday that congressional investigators have discovered e-mails from the Federal Election Commission to Lois Lerner at the IRS inquiring about the tax status of several conservative organizations.
No doubt you will recall that Ms. Lerner is at the center of the Obama IRS scandal and recently refused to testify about her knowledge of the government's harassment of conservative and Christian organizations. But Lerner also served at the FEC and had a very controversial tenure there too.
These e-mail exchanges may prove to be completely innocuous. But given Ms. Lerner's role in the IRS scandal and her refusal to cooperate, we should assume the worst -- that the Obama Administration's targeting of conservative groups likely extended beyond the IRS and into other government agencies.
Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, has sent a letter to the acting IRS commissioner demanding all e-mail exchanges between the IRS and the FEC from 2008 to 2012.
As for the NSA, first there was Prism. Now there is XKeyscore, which according to leaked documents allows the government to know virtually everything anyone does online.
The Guardian reports that the program gives NSA analysts the ability to "search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats [including social media such as Facebook] and the browsing histories of millions of individuals."
In fact, the amount of information the program collects is so vast that it is often impossible to store it all for more than a few days. However, the report suggests the NSA has developed several databases to store much of the data.
The intelligence community insists these programs are essential tools in the war against terrorism. But few are questioning the usefulness of such powerful programs. Instead, it comes down to a matter of trust, specifically a growing lack of trust in this government. Given the Obama Administration's reckless disregard for the law and the IRS scandal, that is not surprising. (See next item.)
For the first time in its polling, the Pew Research Center finds that Americans are more concerned that anti-terrorism policies are restricting their civil liberties (47%) than that the government is not doing enough to protect the country from terrorism (35%). And here's the most damning finding from the poll: 70% of the public "believes that the government uses this data for purposes other than investigating terrorism."
"Obama's Creeping Authoritarianism"
For years now movement conservatives have been raising concerns about Obama's authoritarian tendencies. The left's totalitarian impulse has been a frequent topic in this daily report. Establishment journalists react with raised eyebrows and immediately dismiss such concerns. But now even buttoned-down commentators like the Wall Street Journal's Daniel Henninger are taking notice.
In a column today, Henninger notes how frequently Obama is saying in his speeches, "I'm going to act on my own. I won't wait for Congress." Despite our system of checks and balances, these are big applause lines for his "progressive" audiences.
Henninger writes, "Mr. Obama is rebalancing the system toward a national-leader model that is alien to the American tradition." Indeed, Obama often conducts himself more like a Latin American "strongman" than the president of a constitutional republic.
You may recall that in 2008 Barack Obama ran against George W. Bush's alleged abuses of power -- his executive orders and signing statements. Obama has eagerly embraced those tactics. And he far exceeded them when he ignored laws on marriage and immigration and sought to regulate a cap and trade scheme that failed to pass a Democrat Congress.
Henninger concludes his column by encouraging Republicans to fight back before it's too late. He writes:
"A principled opposition would speak out. Barack Obama is right that he isn't running again. But the Democratic Party is. Their Republican opponents should force the party's incumbents to defend the president's creeping authoritarianism.
"If Democratic Senate incumbents or candidates ... think voters should accede to a new American system in which a president forces laws into place as his prerogative rather than first passing them through Congress, they should be made to say so."
Otherwise, Henninger warns that an "unchecked, unbalanced presidential system will finally arrive."
Government Gone Wild
The debate continues within Republican ranks over whether to shut down the government in an effort to defund Obamacare. Reasonable people can disagree about strategy. But maybe we should shut it. Here are a few vignettes about what your government is doing when it is open.
According to the Washington Times, "The Homeland Security Department has lost track of more than 1 million people who it knows arrived in the U.S. but who it cannot prove left the country." And yet we're being told to trust this government with another massive immigration reform plan.
A new Government Accountability Office report finds that there has been "a 26% increase in misconduct among TSA employees" in the past three years. While some TSA agents are groping you, others are stealing from your luggage, sleeping on the job or just not showing up at all.
And it has been reported that the FBI, an agency I have always had the highest respect for, has been unable to locate the prime suspect in the Benghazi attacks. But CNN did find him and interviewed him for two hours! Can the FBI find CNN?
Dear Friend,
Eric Holder has launched a wholesale attack against the state of Texas. Last week, the DOJ filed federal lawsuits against the state of Texas' voter ID law and election procedures.
And he's made it very clear that his plans don't stop at Texas - he's going to take his crusade against voter ID rules all across America.
He literally wants to rob states of their power to oversee their own elections!
You see, Eric Holder is trying to undo all the work True the Vote and courageous legislators across America have done to support election integrity and voters' rights.
This progressive crusader is going to use federal lawsuits to undo Texas' perfectly legal voter ID law!
As I told the media the other day, the same department that criminalizes journalism and fails to prosecute IRS agents who violate the rights of American taxpayers is now using taxpayer dollars to sue states and block laws such as voter ID and citizenship verification that have been passed by elected legislators.
We will not sit idly by and allow the most politically charged Department of Justice in U.S. history to set aside the U.S. Constitution and attempt to bully the people of Texas.
We need to mobilize Americans by the millions to protest this brazen political power grab.
Eric Holder wants to literally strip states of their rights to vote on, pass, and implement their own voting laws.
He wants to dictate to you, me, and everyone in the country how elections should be run.
His scheme consists of very liberal registration rules, voting processes that are easy to corrupt, and a ban on any serious effort to stop illegal aliens from voting.
This could be the most consequential national battle we've ever faced. And I need your help to win it.
Fighting Eric Holder is an expensive proposition for a fledgling organization like ours. And the Attorney General knows it.
That's one of the reasons this anti-integrity effort has been launched against the states - because they think we will not push back. The DOJ wants to strip states of their power and crush the election integrity movement in the process!
Instead of going on the offensive against vote fraud by training election workers, filing lawsuits against incompetent and corrupt election officials, and supporting commonsense voting reforms - we must now defend all of the progress our movement has made.
We must defend the rights of Texas and every other state to police their own elections.
Just imagine what Texas will look like if Eric Holder is allowed to administer his own election laws.
No IDs will be required, no safeguards will be in place to assure only citizens can vote, and ACORN-like groups will multiply out of control for the sole purpose of overwhelming and imploding our country's electoral process.
Now, imagine if Eric Holder is allowed to rewrite the election laws in EVERY state!
It would mean the end of free and fair elections in America.
John Cornyn went on radio yesterday with Chad Hasty (on twitter: @chadhastyradio) on Lubbock's NewsTalk 790 AM KFYO. When asked why he took his name off Mike Lee's letter about defunding Obamacare, John Cornyn said he did so because of a Congressional Research Service report on the implication of Mike Lee's strategy.
There's just one problem. John Cornyn took his name off the letter before the Congressional Research Service released its report. In fact, before Mike Lee's office officially released the names on the letter, multiple sources in the Senate confirmed that Senator Cornyn removed his name after conversations with Senator Mitch McConnell's office.
The Congressional Research Service report came out Monday, July 29, 2013. Senator Cornyn dropped off the letter the prior Monday, and was publicly not on the list when Mike Lee officially released it on July 25, 2013. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2.We Are Gathering
Five years ago I put up a post on RedState asking if any of the long time readers, diarists, and commenters wanted to get together in person. We had been online four years at that point.
To my surprise, several hundred said yes.
So we met in Atlanta five years ago this weekend. The first weekend in August ever since we have met. Our second year, Rick Perry threw a welcome party, thus starting the tradition of Governors welcoming us to their state. Tonight, Bobby Jindal will do the same here in New Orleans.
Each year we have featured solid conservative leaders we are proud to stand behind, solid conservative candidates we want to see elected, and sound voices from the movement who should be heard.
The Gathering never attracts a lot of media attention, save for 2011 when Rick Perry announced his Presidency at the RedState Gathering. We never were designed as a CPAC or other large convention. This is about conservative activists interacting with those they help elect. Questions are asked and answers, speeches are made, and a good time is had as we prepare ourselves for the fight ahead.
We've never had a set theme, but this year it seems pretty clear there is a theme of disruption within the GOP - fighting within to defund Obamacare, challenging incumbents to move to the right in states where it is possible, and fighting the Democrats within the moral parameters of freedom.
When an angry atheist group like the Freedom From Religion Foundation goes after something like the Holocaust memorial because it includes a Star of David, they do it because they hate anything to do with our Judeo-Christian heritage and to get in the public spotlight.
When groups like the American Atheists pile on with an anti-Semitic diatribe, for example, telling Fox News, "It's important that we not give the Holocaust to just the Jews," they do it for the same reason - to grab a piece of the spotlight. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
For the past few months, members of Congress and their staffs have been discussing behind closed doors the worrying proposition that they will be forced off their popular health insurance program and onto the federal insurance exchanges set up under Obamacare.
Obama and many in Congress are hoping that the Office of Personnel Management can somehow find a way to legally continue paying for members' health benefits after they lose their current Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) coverage and instead have to get coverage through the new exchanges.

Tony's son AJ was something of a running joke on The Sopranos: he was a whiny, directionless mess who slowed down the plot and kept us away from the action and was played with virtually no skill by Robert Iler. But as I've been watching the show's last episodes (currently playing every night at 8 p.m. on HBO Signature) I've come to realize that AJ may have been show's most realistic character.
Today The Hill published its annual slam book, "The Hill's Top 50." This year's "Top 50" is fairly predictable, with smoke Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and yoked Sen. Jeff Flake headlining the festivities. What's stunning, though, and frankly offensive, is that the only cable personality on the list is none other this here Blog's favorite 4PM cable news anchor, Jake Tapper. That's great, I like Jake, but ... uh ... WHERE IS SHANNON BREAM????
A lot of us thought that straight-shooting Jake Tapper was perhaps CNN's last chance to redeem itself as a good news organization, and a story out this afternoon from Jake offers powerful vindication of that hope. Tapper's story is nothing short of explosive: it reports a major effort at covering up the CIA's presence and activities in Benghazi during the time of the fateful September attack:
CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack.
Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya.
Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret.
CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency's Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.
Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency's missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency's workings.
The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.
It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.
There's more. Read the whole thing, as the saying goes.
How might we describe, in general terms, American young adulthood? For anyone inclined to despair of humanity's future in the postwar period, Americans 25 to 35 have proved the great savior. In Greece, they're eating mother's moussaka. In France, they are in les rues wearing tight t-shirts and protesting unfair tuition prices. In Russia, they are drunk. In America, they're working incredibly hard to get ahead. As though ahead were somewhere desirable! When I travel overseas and meet folks my age (27) the same telling confusion pops up, every time: they make reference to their house-inviting us over for drinks, or something-which prompts me, impressed, to say "Congratulations-so what do you do?" And they reply, "I mean my parents' house." "Ah."
Work.
You could say that that's because we have a peculiar obsession with homeownership in the U.S., but it's really because young Americans are obsessed with independently achieved success. The entire world of twenty-somethings considers "my mom's place" and "my place" to be one and the same. Except here.
Which brings me to the saddest chart. We all know that the headline unemployment rate is high-7.6%. We also all know that that figure is secularly skewed downward (by rights, the real rate is well above 10%). And we also all know that all of the organs of the federal government are implicitly or explicitly (in the case of the Fed, which now targets an actual percentage headline unemployment figure in its open market and interest rate decisions) focused on moving that one badly-hewn figure. All of that is more or less absurd, but it misses a big truth about unemployment: what's going on with the youngest, more vital, more energetic American works.
I used BLS datasets to extract age-partitioned labor force participation rates. The labor force participation rate is the ratio between the labor force and the overall size of their cohort (national population of the same age range). This is usually reported without respect to age. The headline number is for ages 16+. The June 2013 figure is 63.5%. Hey: not bad, right? In the effervescent January 2007 it was only 66.4%. Recovery summer!
Actually, here is the real story:
Labor Force Participation by Age. January 2007 = 100. Via BLS.
This shows labor force participation by age cohort, indexed to January 2007. Young people-most strikingly 18 to 19, but also 20 to 24, and 25 to 35-are simply dropping out of the work force. These young Americans are not in the denominator of the headline unemployment figure. They're the most energetic, strongest, most inventive Americans. They're sitting on couches in the Obama economy. Su casa es la casa de su madre. It's not because "the economy sucks," which is the strange existential answer that even Ivy-educated twenty-somethings will give you. It is because the Obama presidency actively harms young people, and seeks to do so more every day.
On the reasons why and the methods how, more anon.
Meanwhile, N.B., the 55+ cohort has actually become more active and more involved in the labor force since January 2007.
Robert Filmer was the 17th century defender of the doctrine of the divine right of kings, which was soon swept away by modern liberal democracy. His most famous book was titled Patriarcha, which not only argued for the divine right of kings but also for the "passive obedience" by the king's subjects.
Robert Filner, the embattled mayor of San Diego, may have a future as the author of a sequel, by the same title if the feminists have their way (heh), about the divine right of cads, complete with the commandment of passive obedience to His Royal Hugginess.
This thought is prompted by this CNN story, which reports that because Filner never took San Diego's mandatory sexual harassment training course, the city may be liable for damages from his harassees.
In a letter to the city attorney, Harvey Berger wrote that Filner might never have been sued for sexual harassment had he been properly trained.
"If there is any liability at all, the city will almost certainly be liable for 'failing to prevent harassment,' " Berger wrote in a letter dated Monday and obtained Wednesday by CNN from City Attorney Jan Goldsmith. . .
Filner never received sexual harassment training while serving in Congress from 1993 to December 2012, Berger wrote. He was set to get such training - which is required within six months of one's start date - after becoming mayor, but the trainer canceled the session and never rescheduled, according to the lawyer.
Now I know what you're thinking. Why would Filner need special training in sexual harassment? He seems quite proficient at it all by himself. I'm sure the "trainer" mentioned in the story could see that Filner didn't need any additional help. For Filner, a sexual harassment training course would amount to a how-to manual to improve his technique.
By the way, are San Diego's sexual harassment "trainers" personal trainers? Thanks, but for this kind of subject, I'd prefer an impersonal trainer (and why can't I ever find an impersonal trainer at the gym?). As it happens, the one and only sexual harassment course I ever had to endure was done online. Though come to think of it, I suspect Filner has availed himself of many online courses in the field. So maybe the city won't be liable after all.
There's a line about the auto industry in George Will's column about Detroit today that is worth dwelling on for a moment: "Auto industry executives, who often were invertebrate mediocrities, continually bought labor peace by mortgaging their companies' futures in surrenders to union demands." (Emphasis added.) My opinion is that the mediocrity of auto company leadership extends beyond just labor relations to the larger questions of car design and quality. But for the competition of foreign auto manufacturers starting most vigorously in the 1970s, imagine what we'd be getting from the Big Three today. The full story of Detroit should include the complete civic failure of big business, too, which, cossetted too long from competition, bailed out by Washington (Chrysler, 1979),
Much attention has been paid here and elsewhere to the racial politics of Detroit during its long downfall, but the business leadership of the city doesn't come out of this story very well, either. Take in the first minute or so of this 18-minute promotional video, made in support of Detroit's unsuccessful bid to host the 1968 Olympics (insert inappropriate jokes here on what new events they'd have featured if they'd won), which includes such gems as "a story of a city seeking new horizons. . ."
Meanwhile, the key paragraphs of Will's column rebuts Steven Rattner's recommendation that Washington should bail out Detroit:
Steven Rattner, who administered the bailout of part of the Detroit-based portion of America's automobile industry, says, "Apart from voting in elections, the 700,000 remaining residents of the Motor City are no more responsible for Detroit's problems than were the victims of Hurricane Sandy for theirs." Congress, he says, should bail out Detroit because "America is just as much about aiding those less fortunate as it is about personal responsibility."
There you have today's liberalism: Human agency, hence responsibility, is denied. Apart from the pesky matter of "voting in elections" - apart from decades of voting to empower incompetents, scoundrels and criminals, and to mandate unionized rapacity - no one is responsible for anything. Popular sovereignty is a chimera because impersonal forces akin to hurricanes are sovereign.
Meanwhile, FWIW, here's how the private sector is supposed to work (emphasis on "results"):
Currently, voters trust Republicans and Democrats just about equally across a broad range of issues. These numbers have sometimes been better; there have been times when voters preferred the GOP almost across the board, and by bigger margins. But still, today's Rasmussen survey is interesting:
The most important issues are the economy and jobs. Republicans hold the edge on both, 44/40 and 46/38, respectively. Along the same lines, Republicans are favored on taxes (44/39), government spending (47/34) and issues affecting small business (46/36). One could say, I should hope so! But still, those numbers are pretty good.
This is what I really want to highlight: the issues that Democrats have played on most heavily over the last year or so, and which some view as a mortal threat to the GOP, are doing little or nothing for the Dems. Specifically, the parties are tied on immigration (39/40), and Republicans lead slightly on gun control (43/41). Social Security, which the Democrats have been demagoguing for, what?-seventy-five years or more?-has come to rest dead even, at 40/41.
The Democrats lead on the traditional soft issues of the environment and education; those are areas where the Republicans should be able to make up ground with a little marketing. But what is most striking about these data is that the Democrats' current scare campaigns over guns and immigration have made little impression on the voters.
Mexican cartels hiring US soldiers as hit men
By Joseph J. Kolb
FoxNews.com
Former Army Pfc. Michael Apodaca (l.) and ex-Lt. Kevin Corley both pleaded guilty to murder-for-hire charges, crimes committed while they were on active duty.
Mexican cartels are recruiting hit men from the U.S. military, offering big money to highly-trained soldiers to carry out contract killings and potentially share their skills with gangsters south of the border, according to law enforcement experts.
The involvement of three American soldiers in separate incidents, including a 2009 murder that led to last week's life sentence for a former Army private, underscore a problem the U.S. military has fought hard to address.
"We have seen examples over the past few years where American servicemen are becoming involved in this type of activity," said Fred Burton, vice president for STRATFOR Global Intelligence. "It is quite worrisome to have individuals with specialized military training and combat experience being associated with the cartels."
August 1, 2013 Refusing to be intimidated by CAIR-Minnesota
Last week, the Minnesota affiliate of CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), launched an all-out campaign to get two ACT! for America public events cancelled.
CAIR-Minnesota failed, because ACT! for America and the host sites refused to knuckle under to this intimidation. We commend the two host sites for standing their ground in defense of free speech.
CAIR-Minnesota employed the typical Muslim Brotherhood strategy, issuing press releases that engaged in name-calling, threats, disinformation and smear tactics (all in the name of tolerance, of course!).
Minnesota is a hotbed for radical Islam and is the home to a congressman who proudly supports CAIR. It wasn't surprising, then, to see CAIR-Minnesota's efforts assisted by some gullible local media outlets.
However, all the media attention backfired on CAIR-Minnesota. At the event in Little Falls, so many people showed up in support of ACT! for America that the fire marshal had to turn people away!!!
The same thing happened a few months ago in Concrete, Washington, where CAIR-Washington tried to bully a teacher and the local school district. A rally in support of the teacher, which ACT! for America helped organize and publicize, drew so many people that hundreds stood outside the building, in the rain, looking in through the windows!
We know that CAIR reads our national emails, so here's a message for them:
We won't be intimidated by you, and there are a whole lot of patriotic Americans that won't be either. We will not let up or give up in our mission to educate America about who you and the Muslim Brotherhood really are, and the threat you pose to our nation. And as Concrete, Washington and Little Falls, Minnesota demonstrate, the more you try to stop us, the more you help our efforts.

U.N. chemical weapons team to inspect 3 Syrian sites
There is nothing particularly shocking or surprising about the content of the story published today
by the New York Times about Israeli attacks on missile sites in Syria. The fact that Israel has launched air strikes on targets in Syria containing weapons that could be used to strike the Jewish state, such as the Russian-made cruise missiles said to be in a warehouse that was hit in Latakia earlier this month, is not a big secret. That some of those weapons might have survived Israeli attacks and that its air force is certain to keep at it until it is sure they are destroyed rather than passed into the hands of Hezbollah seems logical. But the fact that this report was based on detailed classified information that was leaked by people theTimes identifies as "American intelligence analysts" and U.S. government "officials" is both shocking and surprising.
"Gentlemen, you will permit me to put on my spectacles, for, I have grown not only gray, but almost blind in the service of my country." --George Washington (1783)
A few days ago, I received the latest copy of "The Hook," a seasonal journal of carrier aviation published by the Tailhook Association.
I was deeply moved by this summer's edition because it included a reprint of "Honor Bound," a Pentagon study of bravery, torture and endurance -- and the experience of American POWs in Vietnam.
The Hook then listed the names of Navy and Marine POWs who made it home, includingJohn McCain.
Later that same day, I heard remarks at a White House press conference that should be of interest to the families of the 58,209 Americans killed in Vietnam.
Barack Hussein Obama, while sitting with Vietnamese Communist Dictator Truong Tan Sang under a portrait of George Washington, had this to say about what our nations have in common: "We discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson."
Obama, of course, is a phony "community organizer" who was steeped in Communist indoctrination, and who launched his political career in the home of domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Thus, he may not be able to distinguish between the Essential Libertycodified by our Founders in the Declaration of Independence as "endowed by our Creator" and the murderous regime of "Uncle Ho," a brutal Stalinist pig who slaughtered a HALF MILLION peasants when consolidating his oppressive communist regime in Vietnam. Most of us, however, understand that Ho was no Thomas Jefferson.
After the signing of the Paris Peace Accords in 1973, which were intended to end the war in Vietnam, Ho went on to butcher anyone who had given aid to American military personnel.
The disconnect between Obama's outrageous and surreal comments about Ho and the bravery of Patriot Vietnam POWs like John McCain and my friend Roger Ingvalson was driven home this past weekend with the death of a man who was also a POW at the Hanoi Hilton with McCain and Ingvalson -- Air Force Col. George Everett "Bud" Day.
As conservative Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and others attempt to build support for a plan to defund Obamacare in this fall's forthcoming budget battles, they have faced criticism from fellow conservatives on two grounds: first, it will be difficult to convince enough Democrats to agree; second, there is little that can be done to stop a program already in motion. (Criticism from the left objects to any attempt to "sabotage" the program, forgetting Democrats' efforts to defund the Iraq War, with troops in the field.)
"This issue transcends partisanship, and we must work together," said AG Eric Holder in a speech before the National Urban League in Philadephia a week ago. (1) The "issue" Holder referred to was the overthrow by the Supreme Court of the preclearance requirement-Sections 4, 5-of the Voting Rights Act. Thanks to the ruling in Shelby County v Holder it will no longer be necessary for selected states and jurisdictions to have all proposed changes to voting procedure approved (precleared) by the Department of Justice or the DC District Court.
And how has the Attorney General decided to "transcend partisanship" and "work together"? By filing a "Statement of Interest" in the District Court for the Western District of Texas, claiming the state has displayed a "history of pervasive voting-related discrimination against racial minorities" and demanding the federal court impose a preclearance requirement against the state for the next 10 years. In short, the Attorney General hopes ... Continue Reading:Eric Holder will "transcend partisanship" by overturning a Supreme Court decision
The official line on health care, which pervades not only the mainstream, but also much of the alternative media is this: The most important thing is that we all receive the best care, and that someone else pays for it...
1. What IS the "best care"?
While what constitutes the best of anything is largely subjective, most of us agree, at least in generic terms, that certain things are better than others. Moreover, limited by our budget, we usually have the opportunity to make such choices-unencumbered by third parties. No doubt, plenty of misinformation circulates regarding whatever we are interested in obtaining, but based on some due diligence, we believe that we can make informed decisions.
With health care, however, there are serious impediments to making a purely informed decision. For one thing, health care is an extremely technical field-arguably the most technical field that the average consumer will ever encounter. Many conditions are the purview ... Something Worth Hating About Modern Politics, Part One
The sense among political operatives that everything is fair game, as long as it works.
Ever think about running for office? I'll bet you have, maybe once or twice, perhaps long ago. You look around your community and you see problems. You see people in government either ignoring the problems, pursuing solutions doomed to fail, or insisting that nothing can be done until they're given a much larger budget - when they've done so little with the budget they already have. You fume, conclude you could do their job better, and then you realize you probably could do their job better, and perhaps a whole lot better.
And then it hits you. Have you ever done drugs? A reckless driving charge, decades ago? Ever get in any other trouble with the law? Ever have an affair or a messy divorce? Do you have a loved one or relative who did? Even if it's decades ago, it's news if some news organization decides you and your reputation need to be hurt, as Marco Rubio learned:
On the night of July 5, Rubio received a call from his sister, Barbara Cicilia. She was distraught. A Univision reporter had called her about the arrest and incarceration of her husband, Orlando Cicilia, in the 1987 federal bust called "Operation Cobra." Rubio was 16 at the time. Before Rubio was elected to his first legislative seat, in 2000, Cicilia was cleared for early release.
The opposition will always find some source - some site desperate enough for traffic - eager to put their opposition research front and center. And then many other media entities will justify their coverage by covering the coverage.
Even if you've got the strong stomach, thick skin, and hard head to deal with the maelstrom of mudslinging that will come your way . . . does your family? Do you want to put them through all that?
The Obama administration's palpable lust to attack the media, new and old, sends an unmistakable message: displease the Emperor Hussein at your own risk.
If taking back the culture qualifies as a Herculean task, repairing the political machine may well be a Sisyphean one. Were it conceivable, this would be hope and change indeed. But when culture and politics become one, the likelihood is that nothing short of a major cataclysm can decouple one part of the destructive amalgam from the other.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews, apparently not satisfied comparing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to notorious Nazi sympathizer Father Coughlin and former Sen. Today: Now, 400 businesses have joined with street demonstrators to demand amnesty -- or else
BREAKING NEWS: Around 200 pro-amnesty activists blocked all traffic this afternoon by sitting down in the middle of the street that runs between the Capitol and the House office buildings. Some 40 of them were arrested, according to Politico.
PHONE YOUR U.S. REPRESENTATIVES NOW and tell them what you think of the demands for foreign labor. USE NumbersUSA's TOLL-FREE NUMBER:888-978-3094
YOUR PHONE CALLS TODAY HAVE TO BE THE CIVIL COUNTER-FORCE TO THE BULLY TACTICS OF THE OTHER SIDE
You have to kind of feel sorry for the Republican Representatives who are being threatened at every turn if they don't allow an unrestricted amnesty to come to the House floor for a vote.
If a bill doubling the importation of foreign workers isn't passed, a new letter to Congress signed by 400 businesses warns ominously:
"Failure to act is not an option"
Dozens of business coalitions have promised to show up at August town hall meetings to demand the foreign labor that they say they must have to survive and to thrive -- during the fifth year of the worst unemployment era in decades.
And just a few minutes ago, we had the spectacle on Capitol Hill of Labor Union officials and leaders of other pro-amnesty groups breaking the law to demand that Republicans consent to reward 11 million people who have broken immigration laws.
And it looks to get uglier, according to this quote from Politico:
"When you want policymakers to see the light, sometimes you gotta raise the heat," Frank Sharry, the executive director of America's Voice, said shortly before he was arrested. "And that's what we're doing today. It's a sign of the kind of escalation of tactics and demands from around the country that are going to pressure the House Republicans until they sch edule a vote on citizenship."
I'm not asking you to sit down in the middle of a street or to "escalate" tactics. I just want you to make a simple phone call to calmly speak as a citizen, asking your Representative to block any bill from coming to the House floor that would lead to an increase in foreign workers competing with Americans for jobs and resources.
Counter-Demonstrate By Phone
Please call today and all day Friday.
As U.S. Representatives prepare to leave Capitol Hill for their August recess, make sure the lasting impression they have is of their phones ringing off the hook thanking them in advance for keeping any amnesty or foreign-worker increase from coming to the House floor.
Tell the staffer who answers the phone that this is your message for the congressman/woman:
* Don't be intimidated by the street demonstrations and law-breaking going on outside your offices.
* The street demonstration today outside your office looks like what pro-amnesty forces are threatening to do in your district. Please be aware that while there were 200 people sitting down in the middle of Independence Avenue today demanding amnesty, there are 20 MILLION Americans who are sitting at home because they can't find a full-time job.
* I know that there are a lot of businesses and business lobbyists who are pressuring Rep. Xmxmxm to pass an amnesty and increase the number of immigrant workers. But are they really willing to stand up in the middle of all the unemployed people in our district and say that they refuse to hire the unemployed Americans that surround them?
* I hope Rep. Xmxmmxmx will tell any business lobbyist who demands more immigrant labor to raise their pay if they are truly having any trouble filling their jobs, because there are 20 million Americans who say they can't find a full-time job.
* The disruptive o pen-borders demonstrators outside your office couldn't be farther away from the views and style of most people in your/our district. We expect you to put the needs of the citizens and legal immigrants in the district ahead of bullies who demand special treatment.
An example of the committed citizens who will exercise their civic duty in representing the needs of Americans over the business and union leader bullying is the number of people who were on the phone with our NumbersUSA tele-townhall Tuesday night:
58,770
I was quoted in USA Today this morning as saying 40,000, but found out that the real number was 58,770. That's an incredible turnout of people preparing to make a difference while the Representatives are back home in their districts during August.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOUSE: 'FAILURE TO ACT' ON IMMIGRATION 'NOT AN OPTION'
by TONY LEE
breitbart.com
31 Jul 2013
The United States Chamber of Commerce sent a letter on behalf of more than 400 businesses and groups to the House of Representatives on Tuesday, urging action on immigration reform.
"Failure to act is not an option," the Chamber of Commerce wrote in a letter addressed to House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). "We can't afford to be content and watch a generation-old immigration system work more and more against our overall national interest."
Groups that signed the letter stated they had already "been engaged with many members of Congress--Republicans and Democrats--on numerous components of a modern immigration system, and we urge that you not let this momentum slip and progress vanish."
The letter continued, "The problems with our immigration system have grown and multiplied to become an emergin g threat to the current and future productivity, ingenuity, and competitiveness of key sectors of our economy, including agriculture, housing, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, tourism, engineering, and technology."
"We are united in the belief that we can and must do better for our economy and country by modernizing our immigration system," the letter
states.
Groups like Google, Facebook, American Action Network and American Action Forum, which will engage in a grass-roots strategy in August to pressure House Republicans to support immigration reform, also signed the letter. Many of these groups reportedly attended secret meetings with the "Gang of Eight" Senators who wrote the immigration bill to plot strategies targeting House Republicans in order to get comprehensive immigration reform passed.
On Bre itbart News Sunday on Sirius XM 125, Numbers USA Executive Director Roy Beckexplicitly stated that these industry groups have always been the driving force behind so-called comprehensive immigration reform in order to drive down wages of working class Americans in all industries, to the benefit of business.

The Atlantic profiled NumbersUSA in "The David-and-Goliath Fight to Stop Immigration Reform". The author, Molly Ball, opines that NumbersUSA's two million members hold "undeniably fringe views" yet acknowledges that NumbersUSA was inspired by the bi-partisan Jordan Commission, w hich was the official body of the House, Senate and President Clinton in the 1990s.
Ball's charges that NumbersUSA is "fringe" or "extreme" are particularly strange when her article also acknowledges that we have successfully championed the "everyday American workers -- against the manipulations of the moneyed elite."
That's what the August recess is shaping up to be: a battle of the wage earners vs. the moneyed elite.
In "Immigration advocacy grinds on despite poverty and unemployment," columnist Joe Guzzardi wrote: "Despite the obvious truth that the last thing the nation needs when so many Americans are suffering is more people, especially more poor people like those who would be invited through the ill-conceived Senate immigration bill, S. 744, advocacy for the legislation grinds on."
The New York Timesreported that "More than 100 Republican donors -- many of them prominent names in their party's establishment -- sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday urging them to support an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws."
The Washington Timesreported that "leaders from 428 businesses and umbrella organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce signed the letter pleading for House members not to stand in the way" of immigration i ncreases.
The cheap labor lobby has found their House version of Marco Rubio in Paul Ryan, who was frank about his opposition to tight labor markets in an interview with National Journal.
As usual, the elites have lined up in favor of granting 33 million permanent work permits to jobs seekers via immigration over the next ten years. But their money and influence have to get past the American wage earners who plan to be active duri ng the recess. In "GOP will feel heat at home in August on immigration,"USA Today quoted Roy Beck who said of the monied elites: "Obviously, they've got all of this money and all of these organizations and everything else, but we've got over 2 million members. We're in every district."
"The current effort recalls the push by major GOP donors and the business lobby, often one and the same, to support earlier efforts to revise immigration laws in 2006 and 2007....Those attempts during the Bush administration came to naught; there was just too much grass-roots opposition....That's what Big Money is trying to overcome. But while it has money on its side, as we've seen before, that doesn't mean it will have the votes at the critical moment."
The Washington Timesreported that "The Homeland Security Department has lost track of more than 1 million people who it knows arrived in the U.S. but who it cannot prove left the country, according to an audit Tuesday that also found the department probably won't meet its own goals for deploying an entry-exit system." The story noted that the Senate amnesty bill "waters down" existing entry-exit laws.
The Washington Times and Daily Caller reported that Kenneth Palinkas, the union chief for the 12,000 immigration officers at USCIS, "warned House Republicans that even flirting with a limited legalization such as just granting citizenship rights to so-called Dream Act immigrants could lead to problems." Palinkas wrote:
"I cannot stress enough how ill-equipped USCIS is to engage in the sort of far-reaching plans before Congress right now -- including both the enormous legalization programs proposed as well as the historic increases in both immigrant and non-immigrant visas....
"....I would therefore urge all House lawmakers not to conference with the dangerous Senate bill that will produce a totally deficient comprehensive proposal, but instead to work with USCIS adjudicators to produce responsible reforms that enhance the integrity and security of our immigration system."
And, as Roy reported in his blog, a federal judge ruled that the Obama administration likely violated the law by granting broad prosecutorial discretion through its Deferred Action for Childhood Arriv als (DACA) program, but dismissed the lawsuit to stop it on procedural grounds.
The Senate bill would grant even greater authority to the Executive Branch.
Urge your Representative to take the principled position.
In the Atlantic story that started this roundup, Roy said: "Our members have got to get these members of Congress to see that it's not about who the immigrants are. It's about who the immigrants affect. Immigration policy should serve the interests of Americans. It's not about immigrants. It's about immigration policy, and how that policy affects the people in your district -- the wage-earning people."
Writing to his own party, Sen. Jeff Sessions wrote: "The GOP should insist on an approach to immigration that both restores constitutional order and serves the interests of the American worker and taxpayer. But only by refusing any at tempt at rescue or reprieve for the Senate bill is there a hope of accomplishing these goals."
The principled case for wage earners couldn't be stronger.
Gallop reported that the number of young adults holding full-time jobs is in decline and the availability of full-time jobs has barely kept up with overall population growth.
The Associated Pressreported: "Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream."
The Century Foundation reported that "labor is cheap and, on a real basis, getting cheaper," and the U.S. already has "a sur plus of domestic labor needing to take service jobs."
As Yuval Levin wrote in The National Review: "The Left's diminishing emphasis on economic populism has also been on display in the immigration debate, where the kinds of concerns with the wages of low-skill workers that were evident among Democrats in prior rounds of the argument have basically disappeared." But Levin added that while many young conservatives recognize the opportunity to stand up for workers, "most Republicans still do not."

Amnesty Lobby Swarms District Offices, Spends Millions in Ads After They Demand Legalization for All in the House
"Big Amnesty" pushers will spend millions running national ads in August before the immigration debate resumes this fall. But it looks like they're already making headway in the House. Just last week the House invited amnesty-advocates and an illegal alien to testify on a possible House amnesty bill for young illegal aliens.
Amnesty witnesses who took the stand made one thing crystal clear: they won't be satisfied until all illegal aliens are given a path to citizenship. Long-time amnesty-advocate in the House, Representative Luis Gutierrez boldly declared "legalizing only the [young people] is not enough!"
Until the Administration enforces current immigration laws, America will continue to have an illegal immigration problem. Throwing money at the border in exchange for legalization (amnesty) doesn't solve our illegal immigration problems. Enforcing the law does.
We have hard hitting TV and radio ads promoting real reform ready to air, but we simply do not have the same funds as the deep-pocked amnesty lobby to get the message out there. Your most generous tax-deductible contribution will help FAIR shower the airwaves with real solutions to our immigration problems. Running these ads will be crucial in setting the tone for the immigration debate in the fall.
P.S. The amnesty lobby made it clear it wants border anarchy and they'll stop at nothing until they get legalization for all illegal aliens. Help FAIR stop this amnesty push in the House before it's too late!
FAIR is a non-partisan, non-discriminatory non-profit organization dedicated to securing our borders, ending illegal immigration and promoting immigration levels consistent with the national interest. FAIR relies solely on the tax-deductible contributions of citizens and philanthropic foundations.
Defunding Obamacare: A Matter of Principle
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is challenging both House and Senate members to "stand up for principle" with his defund Obamacare bill - and he's refusing to stay quiet until they do.
With the continuing resolution expiration date only 61 days away, Cruz thinks Congress has just enough time to stop U.S. tax dollars from feeding the Obamacare beast.
"Under no circumstances will I vote for a continuing resolution that funds even one single penny of Obamacare," Cruz told Glenn Beck on TheBlaze radio show earlier this week. He urged Republicans to stand together in support of defunding, despite the President's scare tactics.
"Why is President Obama threatening and trying to shut down the federal government?" Cruz said. "In order to force Obamacare down the people's throats?"
Cruz spoke at Heritage's Bloggers Briefing on Tuesday morning, explaining why a complete defunding of Obamacare is crucial and why he's putting pressure on Congress to make sure it happens.

August 1, 2013 Slicing Breadwinner Moms Headlines by Jennifer Marshall, Director of the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at The Heritage Foundation "Breadwinner Moms" was a brilliant stroke of pop-culture framing for the recent Pew Research Center study that depicted Mom as main provider in 40 percent of American households with children.
The research group's headline device capitalized on the "You go, girl!" sentiment that is so prevalent in popular culture, and it made news in a way that the major findings of the report would not have.
Just think what a non-news item it would have been if the press release had said "Mom out-earns Dad in 15 percent of households with children under age 18."
Or, how different the reaction if the pitch had been that 25 percent of households with children under 18 are supported by a single mother. That might have gotten attention, but not such cheers. Especially considering that in these single-mother homes, the median income is $23,000 and that 44 percent are never-married moms.
What's more, a third of these single mothers aren't working at all - meaning they are much more likely to depend on government welfare. Life on the dole, not bringing home the bacon, is a neglected subplot of the "breadwinner" narrative.
We live in an era in which traditional life scripts have broken down, especially when it comes to sex, marriage and childbearing. Feminists portray that as liberating, but for many, the outcomes are anything but liberating.
In the wake of the sexual revolution and the feminist movement, the path to marriage and married family life is much more challenging - though the majority of women continue to say that marriage and motherhood are a big part of their dreams.
We're told that the breakdown in traditional life scripts should free us to tell our own story ... to choose our own adventure. But in reality we're not liberated when it comes to the stories that are told about our lives.
Why? Because other dominant scripts get superimposed. In the 1990s, TV character Murphy Brown became the face of the single mother, when the reality is that the unwed mother is more likely to be less educated and face many more economic challenges.
Now the mainstream media turns a report on female breadwinners into a story about well-educated, married women out-earning their husbands though those women make up a minority of the population in question.
This phenomenon of a superimposed script became apparent in interviews with women on singleness lasting longer than in decades past. These women had never been married, and they were definitely interested in marriage and motherhood. But they expressed concern that the professional success they had earned in the meantime was interpreted through the lens of a feminist script to which they didn't subscribe.
"Mistaken for a career woman" was how many of them felt. And, as a result, they were concerned that men perceived them to be uninterested in marriage and motherhood
It would be a great advance if women's increased leadership and empowerment led to a re-evaluation of success and the good life in our day. Why must the conversation about women's success (or men's, for that matter) center on a career?

Chris Matthews unhinged: Calls Ted Cruz a 'terrorist'
Obviously Chris Matthews isn't all that concerned about using the 'new tone' the left talked about just a few short months ago because he just called Senator Ted Cruz a 'terrorist' on TV. Amazingly, Matthews was confused when his guest expressed concern over using the word 'terrorist' to describe a sitting senator. But, then again, Matthews seems to be confused most of the time. See the clip and Glenn's reaction HERE.

Bill O'Reilly continues to take on the race-baiters
Earlier this week, Glenn covered Bill O'Reilly's headline-grabbing 'Talking Points Memo' about the dire problems facing blacks in America. Chief among those problems is the breakdown of the familial unit and the consequences that has on children. Last night, O'Reilly responded to some of his critics and even played audio of a Louisiana State representative who is blaming the death of black children on police officers... wow. See Glenn's reaction to the lunacy HERE.

EXPOSED: Zealot author's progressive past
The media has gone nuts over Reza Aslan's new book, Zealot. It's gotten plenty of praise from the left because of its 'historical' look at Jesus, and anyone upset over the content has been portrayed as anti-Muslim. But the manufactured uproar over Aslan's Islamic faith is only a distraction from the actual issues: he has obscured the facts about his educational background and his deep ties to progressive organizations. Glenn exposed the truth during last night's opening monologue of the Glenn Beck Program. WATCH
