Founding Fathers

Quote:

"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge; I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers."

OBAMA ADMIN QUIETLY RELEASES TALIBAN INMATES FROM GITMO TO OPEN PEACE TALKS IN AFGHANISTAN

 29 Jul 2013 96POST A COMMENT

Without an official announcement or any publicity, the Obama administration released five members of the Taliban from Gitmo in order to open peace talks in Afghanistan.

Ynetnews.com reports that "a top U.S. official said the prisoners were released under the condition that they will not engage in any violent activity."

The terror activity of those released is not in question. Rather, their release is intended as a gesture to get peace talks rolling between the U.S., Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

Although this release is a stark departure from the standing U.S. policy of "zero tolerance [of] negotiations with terrorists and releasing of prisoners," Obama's State Department has may have found a loophole via their reluctance to define the Taliban as a terror group as of late.

One thing is for certain--the more prisoners Obama can release from Gitmo in a piecemeal fashion the quicker he can justify asking Congress to cut off funding for the prison altogether.

DISH Network in US to Carry Antisemitic Mini-Series 'Khaybar'

By: Pamela Geller | July 22nd, 2013

Khaybar Back on July 9, I reported on a vicious new mini-series airing in the Muslim world that dramatizes and glorifies Muhammad's annihilation of an entire tribe, the Jews at the Khaiber (or Khaybar) oasis in Arabia. Many Atlas readers are familiar with the Muslim death chant that we hear at mass anti-Jewish rallies, anti-Israel demos, on the jihad flotilla, etc.: "Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud, Jaish Muhammad sa ya'ud." This means "Khaybar, Khaybar, O Jews, the army of Mohammed is returning." This death chant refers to the mass slaughter at Khaybar of Jews by Muhammad and his soldiers of allah, and says that it is going to happen again. And remember, in Islam, Muhammad is the supreme example to be imitated by Muslims.

Thanks to DISH TV, this jihad porn is being aired in the US. Voice your disgust and opposition (politely) to DISH. Call 1-800-894-9131. The customer service number: 800-333-3474. To talk to a human, press 1, then 2, or this  877-347-4778.

I called  and spoke with Carmel Jackson, Executive Resolution Center. DISH told me to take my complaint to the Dubai network. I said Dubia can do what they want. It is you who is bringing this genocidal propganda to the American people. It is you who are responsible. And Ms. Jackson gave me a disconnected number in the event that I wanted to reach her. Internet Kill Switch Test Conducted On Beforeitsnews?

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 7:51

(Before It's News)

Beforeitsnews has recently been notified by no fewer than 8 of our readers that they have been unable to access a particular story on our website. Strangely enough, those people HAVE been able to access other stories, just not this particular one. The story in question is linked here: It Appears That Eight SEALS Thought To Be Blown Up over Afghanistan fought on the ground until they were killed by the Taliban. Is an internet kill switch test being conducted upon individual stories that TPTB want censored? Check out the video below from Christopher Greene about Barack Obama's 'internet kill switch' executive order.

EXCLUSIVE: According to Michael Strange's parents, Michael along with 8 other SEALS made it out of the Chinook and were fighting on the ground.

This seems now to be the biggest cover up in United States Government and Military History.

What Local Op-Ed So Disturbed Glenn Beck That He's Discussing Legal Action?

The Blaze | Erica Ritz | Jul. 30, 2013 6:34pm

Beyond plain unadulterated stupidity
Alexandra Karl wrote an article in the Salt Lake Tribune

The Salt Lake Tribune published an opinion piece on July 27 by an "art historian and educator" named Alexandra Karl that has some members of Glenn Beck's staff so disgusted that they say they'd be happy if he took legal action.

Titled "Karl: Glenn Beck's Nazi Exhibit," the op-ed is both riddled with factual inaccuracies and filled with horrific implications about Beck's character.

"Beyond plain unadulterated stupidity," is how Beck's co-host Pat Gray described it on radio Tuesday. "That's character assassination and defamation territory."

The opinion piece begins by getting the name and location of Beck's "Man in the Moon" event wrong

Patriotic Summer Movie!

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GODS AND GENERALS AND GETTYSBURG COMES THE LIBERTY MOVIE OF THE YEAR

RON MAXWELL'S COPPERHEAD

For anyone who reveres and believes in the preservation of the Constitution of the United States, Copperhead is a must see this summer!

Copperhead is unlike any Civil War movie to date. It is a film of the war at home - of a family ripped apart by war, of a community driven to an appalling act of vengeance against a man who insists on exercising his right to free speech during wartime. A story of the violent passions and burning feuds that set ablaze the homefront during the Civil War, Copperhead the movie is also a timeless and deeply moving examination of the price of dissent, the place of the individual amidst the hysteria of wartime, and the terrible price of war - a cost measured not in dollars but in fractured families, broken loves, and men dead before their time.

Based on the extraordinary novel by Harold Frederic, who witnessed these conflicts firsthand as a small child, Copperhead tells the story of Abner Beech, a stubborn and righteous farmer of Upstate New York, who defies his neighbors and his government in the bloody and contentious autumn of 1862.

COMMON CORE:

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR OUR CHILDREN?

We'd like to extend a special invitation for you to attend an open meeting covering Common Core

hosted by the Coaltion for Advancing Freedom:

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

The Red Clay Room, 423 Dalmatian Street, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, 19348, USA
Doors open at 6:00pm. Program begins promptly at 6:45pm.

We encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors, teachers and PTO members, for this important program featuring two engaging subject-matter experts, Whitney Neal and Dr. Peg Luksik, followed by a Question & Answer Session.

Part 1- A Rigorous Assessment

Speaker: Dr. Peg Luksik Former candidate for PA Governor and US Senate

* * * * *

The first part of the evening will be a presentation by nationally-known education expert Dr. Peg Luksik, who will speak about the Common Core education standards and how they will affect you and your family. She'll cover what it is, how it came to be, why you may never have even heard of it, and why it is not a good idea for the children of Pennsylvania.

Part 2 - Making Education 'Common'

Speaker: Whitney Neal Director of Grassroots - FreedomWorks

* * * * *

In the second part of the program, grassroots activist and former 8th Grade U.S. History teacher Whitney Neal, will cover how the Common Core's 'homogenized' approach treats every child exactly the same, regardless of their individual needs, strengths, or career goals, and how this untested program can only result in a consistent standard of mediocrity.

Part 3 - Question & Answers

What We Can Do: As Parents, Teachers, School Board Members and Administrators

* * * * *

The third part of the evening will be a Question & Answer Session focused on what we can do. Especially because, to date, we parents, teachers, PTOs and PTAs, school boards, administrators, and concerned citizens have had no say in the matter.

The Federal Government effectively 'bribed' the State apparatus to adopt the Common Core using federal stimulus money, and they did so 'behind the scenes' without any significant public debate. There hasn't been any means testing to ensure that the standards are successful in the classroom. Finally, only 1 out of 60 content experts who reviewed the Common Core were teachers, and no proof was provided that their feedback was received, or their changes reflected in the final standards.

For more information on Common Core, please visit the CAF website at: http://www.advancefreedom.org/
Twitter handle for use before, during, and after the August 13 program: @CAF4PA

Coalition for Advancing Freedom Please RSVP HERE ASAP so that we have a good attendance estimate.

Feel free to invite those that you know need to hear more about Common Core.
And please note that Moms are the constituency aligning most against it.

Pennsylvanians Against Common Core

US House passes bill to protect local educational control

WASHINGTON, D.C - On Friday, July 19th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5, the Student Success Act. This legislation will reduce federal interference in education, restore control to local school districts and states, empower parents and support effective teachers.

As passed by the House, the Student Success Act will:
·         Eliminate the flawed Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) system and replace it with state-determined accountability systems, thereby returning authority for measuring student performance to states and school districts.
·         Eliminate federally mandated actions and interventions currently required of poor performing schools, giving states and districts maximum flexibility to develop appropriate school improvement strategies and rewards for their schools.
·         Allow Title I dollars to follow disadvantaged students, at the option of individual states. This landmark 'portability' option promotes parental choice and allows all Title I schools to receive funds to promote the academic achievement of students in need.
·         Repeal federal bureaucrat designed teacher requirements and grant states the flexibility to develop their own teacher evaluation systems to better gauge an educator's effectiveness, if they so choose.
·         Maintain the requirement that states and school districts issue and distribute annual report cards, including disaggregated data on student achievement and high school graduation rates, while also streamlining data reporting to ensure meaningful information is easily available to parents and communities.
·         Support opportunities for parents to enroll their children in local magnet schools and charter schools, and enhance statewide parental engagement.
·         Eliminate more than 70 existing elementary and secondary education programs to promote a more appropriate federal role in education through the block grant program.
·         Consolidate a myriad of existing K-12 education programs into a new Local Academic Flexible Grant, which provides funding to states and school districts to support local priorities that improve student achievement.

Top teacher ignores latest reform directives
Rafe Esquith, the most imaginative and productive classroom teacher I know, freely admits he overdoes it. He works long hours, including Saturdays. He leads his fifth graders in mounting several performances of a Shakespeare play each year. He helps former students prepare for college. This summer he gave speeches in China, took former students to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, drove their luggage 700 miles, showed students several John Steinbeck haunts, did an 11 day tour for this new book and took students on a Mississippi steamboat ride. As hyper as he is, after 29 years teaching mostly low-income Hispanic and Korean kids in a small, rundown classroom in Los Angeles he knows what drains teacher energy and ambition. In his new book, "Real Talk for Real Teachers," he describes this in ways I think nearly every teacher in the country would endorse: The system, "rather than encourage and support you, . . . actively works to discourage you," he writes. Read more.

Common Core won't make kids smarter
The new education standards called Common Core won't make U.S. kids any smarter. It would be better if states used their own revised and improved version of standards already successfully piloted in 12 states. The overall Common Core strategy is to raise the scores of average students by a point or two but do nothing to motivate or help the smarter kids or the dumber kids. Read more.

VALLEY FORGE PATRIOTS AUGUST 9TH MEETING

PHOENIXVILLE SENIOR CENTER

7:00 PM TO 9:00 PM

THIS WILL BE A WORKING MEETING.  BE PREPARED TO HAVE A LITTLE WRITER'S CRAMP.

Common Core is a huge issue for our schools and students as well as the taxpayers. The cost of implementing Common Core Standards (CCS) in PA will be $650 million or more over seven years at a time when we are facing a severe pension crisis. The PA legislature was bypassed when PA signed on to the CCS. There is no evidence that this costly and transformational initiative will result in better learning outcomes. In addition, we believe that we will lose local control over our school boards and over the education of our students.

For our August meeting we will have a Common Core post card writing blitz and we urge you all to join in the effort. VFP will supply pre-stamped post cards, as well as bullet points to write and addresses of legislators. This is a nationwide effort that we are coordinating with Pennsylvanians Against Common Core.

It is most important that we contact and continue to contact legislators since this Common Core initiative is already being implemented. Of course, the leftist teachers unions will be spaming mail, probably on the clock as usual. If you have kids, grandkids, neices and nephews you need to care about this. Hope to see you there with your writing utensils.

Concerned Gun Owners of PA

Stay in the Fight!

Gun Control advocates Still on the March!

Gun Control groups like Mayor Bloombergs CeasefirePA are still pushing hard to further "question" our right to  Keep and Bear Arms!  Just this week CeasefirePA testified at the PA Judiciary Committee hearing on HB1010 to expand background checks (next step towards registration).  And the Bloomberg anti-gun bus tour continues across the USA with a likely stop in PA in the next 60 days.  The recent Zimmerman trial verdict has given these anti-liberty groups a renewed energy to pass more incremental gun control laws.

This battle for our rights needs YOU to stay involved.  CGOPA is an all-volunteer grassroots group of citizens, we are your friends and neighbors.  There is a core group of 13 and we are always looking for more help!  We need people to help coordinate legislative action and develop a formal membership framework.  Please email concernedgunowners@gmail.com to get involved!

Act for America

Guy Rodgers,
Executive Director for
ACT! for America,
to speak in Elmer, NJ

It is my privilege to invite you to a special event featuring Guy Rodgers, Executive Director of ACT! for America. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the following location:

Elmer Grange Hall
535 Daretown Road
Elmer, NJ 08318
Tuesday, September 3rd at 7 pm

Guy has been my right hand since I founded ACT! for America in 2007. He is a compelling, dynamic public speaker who combines a deep knowledge of the threat of radical Islam with nearly three decades of strategic and communications experience in the political world.

The result is extraordinary-and something you don't want to miss.

The Boston Marathon bombing was a painful reminder that the threat of jihad is always lurking just beneath the surface. Unfortunately, we can't just wish it away or turn a blind eye to it. Whether that threat is the violent kind of jihad we saw in Boston or on 9/11, or the "stealth" kinds of jihads that is the primary weapon of the Muslim Brotherhood, we must be informed and have the tools with which to fight it effectively.

Here are just some of the aspects of this threat Guy will discuss:

  • The worldwide effort to muzzle free speech-and how our own government is assisting this effort.
  • Homegrown jihad.
  • Terrorists infiltrating our borders.
  • The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America.
  • Pro-Islamic bias and indoctrination in our public school textbooks.
But perhaps even more importantly, you will learn how ACT! for America is successfully rolling back the tide of radical Islam...how we are winning legislative victories...how we don't have to live in fear or resign ourselves to the inevitability of the threats arrayed against us...and how we will prevail.

I encourage you to forward this email to everyone you know. I know you will leave this event not only educated, but inspired.

So please come and invite your friends to this ACT! for America event in Elmer, NJ, on Tuesday, September 3
rd. You'll be glad you did.

Yours for a Safe and Free America,

Brigitte Gabriel

In the wake of the Supreme Court's marriage decisions, the movement to uphold America's core principles heads to the states, where challenges to state laws and local communities' religious liberties will surely open up in coming months.

How can citizens strategize and get the tools to effectively make the case for life, marriage, and religious liberty? Are conservative groups working together? Get the answers at Values Voter Summit 2013 >>

On October 11-13, Values Voter Summit 2013 will bring together thousands of Americans to tackle issues impacting our freedoms, families, national security, and values. This year's theme, Standing for Faith, Family and Opportunity for All, celebrates how following America's founding principles provides all Americans more freedom and better lives.

Leading voices in public policy and culture will address the summit, notably Senator Ted Cruz, former Governor Mike Huckabee, Rep. Steve King, columnistStar Parker, Senator Rand PaulLive Action president Lila Rose, former Senator Rick SantorumTodd Starnes of Fox News, and many more. See the latest confirmed speakers and register now >>

Heritage president Jim DeMint will deliver a keynote address to the leaders gathered, expected to be broadcast live on C-SPAN. His talk will touch on the importance of marriage and upward mobility, themes further developed in breakout sessions featuring Heritage experts.

In "Responding to the Tough Questions on Marriage, Religious Liberty, and More," Heritage's Jennifer Marshall, along with Adèle Keim of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, will tackle tough questions conservatives often hear, such as "Isn't it pro-family to expand who can get married?" and "Do conservatives care about the poor?"

Heritage will also host "How America Provides Opportunity for All: Stories and Solutions" to explore the truth of upward mobility in America. Matthew Spalding, author of We Still Hold These Truths, and Bishop Shirley Holloway, founder ofHouse of Help/City of Hope, will reveal how government redistribution runs counter to our Founders' wisdom and what the real solutions are to breaking the cycle of poverty. Get more details on breakout sessions >>

Students are also a vital part of this year's event. They will have exclusive opportunities to interact with speakers, including a Friday night mixer. In a casual interactive setting, Ryan Anderson of Heritage-famed for his CNN face-off with Piers Morgan-and the Family Research Council's Peter Sprigg will help young adults develop intellectually honest answers to what friends are asking on sexuality, relationships, and why marriage matters.

Between sessions, all attendees can receive complimentary materials and speak directly with dozens of conservative groups, including Christians United for IsraelLiberty CounselStudents for LifeLeadership Institute, and Let Freedom Ring. The 912 Gazette

From a trusted friend:

As some of you may know, I am associated with Coventry Christian Schools as a parent of a graduate (2010) and as member of the Board of Trustees.   Last October we spent a wonderful evening honoring Mark Niehls at our revitalized Founder's Dinner and celebrated our shared heritage in the remarkable community that is Coventry Christian Schools. Our vision for future Founder's Dinners is to inspire and inform not only our alumni and current CCS families but to inspire and inform the Tri-County Area and even our region by hosting speakers and artists who can uniquely assist us in celebrating the heritage, core values, and mission of CCS while also lifting our vision for an even greater future built upon the foundation of our past. The caliber of our speakers and guest artists should provide us with wonderful opportunities to share our CCS story with new partners in Christian education. Proceeds from the dinner will be applied to our annual Coventry Kids Fund for CCS scholarships.

This year we are proud to announce that our distinguished guest and speaker is Dr. Benjamin Carson, and our dinner's theme is "Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Faith in American Schools." Please join us as we welcome Dr. Carson to the Tri-County Area and celebrate the great things God is doing at CCS!

Dr. Carson is a highly regarded neurosurgeon and motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences across the country. He is one of the most honored and recognized physicians in the world and holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees along with hundreds of awards and citations. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. He is the author of five books and is the founder of the Carson Scholars Fund. The 2009 award-winning movie entitled Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Carson, premiered on TNT and is based on his memoir. Dr. Carson is an authentic disciple of Christ, has been married to his wife Candy for more than 37 years, and is the father of three sons.

The 2013 Founder's Dinner, which will once again be a part of our Homecoming festivities, will be held at the historic Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown on Sunday, October 13th, 2013. Doors will open at 4:30pm, followed by dinner at 5:15. Dress will be business/professional.    Tickets will be priced at $100 until May 15th, then will be $125, so reserve your tickets for the reduced price.

Due to Dr. Carson's international reputation and recent prominence in the media, including his recent speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, we fully anticipate that this event will sell out quickly once advertised to the public. Tickets go on sale to the public April 15.   If you are interested in attending, tickets can be purchased online.  I will send the link out to those who wish to go on April 15

th

.  While online reservations are preferred because they facilitate efficient event planning, you may also complete a paper order form, which I can forward to you as well.

All of us at Coventry Christian Schools, look forward to sharing this very special evening with you and acquainting you with the school and its mission!

Blessings,

Christine Gordon

David Horowitz Restoration Weekend

Dear FrontPage Reader,     Each year, we invite the nation's leading conservative lawmakers, thinkers, and writers to join us in Palm Beach, Florida, for the David Horowitz Restoration Weekend. Held at The Breakers-one of the most beautiful resorts on the east coast-this retreat offers an unparalleled opportunity to relax and renew our dedication to our conservative values and preserving liberty.

This year's Restoration Weekend, which will be held November 14-17, promises to be the greatest yet. Dr. Ben Carson, Monica Crowley, Richard Grenell, David Horowitz, and Steve Moore are already confirmed to speak and we expect to add many more great conservatives to this list as we get closer.

I won't lie-attending the weekend is not cheap. And I know this has deterred many people throughout the years. That's why the Freedom Center will be covering all the costs for a lucky supporter and their guest to attend-roundtrip airfare, three nights at The Breakers, and admission to all of the retreat's programs, meals, and activities.

Donate $5 today to be entered to win an all expenses paid trip to Palm Beach for the David Horowitz Restoration Weekend.

This special offer won't last long. We'll be selecting the winners on August 31-so make sure to enter today.

Thanks,

Michael Finch
COO, David Horowitz Freedom Center

Common Core State Standards

WHAT IS COMMON CORE?

Common Core, or the Common Core State Standards Initative (CCSSI), as it is known at the State and Federal level, is a set of national education standards that will fulfill the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, through a waiver system. (The NCLB Act was put into place by Congress in 2001 and signed into law by President George W. Bush). Many states were failing to meet the NCLB Act requirements and, therefore, wanted something to replace NCLB.Common Core is part of the UN's plan for complete federal control over our education systems and the "Dumbing-down" of America.

Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) are not state standards in the first place, and are nothing more then further federalization of our state education systems.

COMMON CORE IS A TROJAN HORSE AND TIED TO THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)

If you cannot see that Common Core is tied to the United Nations you have not done your homework! The major funder of the Common Core Movement is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which has pledged $60 million dollars to this effort. Bill and Melinda Gates are tied to UN through-and-through and have spent money in America and overseas for UN programs in Africa and all over the world for decades.

From the Conservative Teachers of American organization, they wrote an article entitled: "Common Core Standards and the Federalization of Education." In this article we read: "Many are concerned that the Common Core Standards, once successfully implemented, will provide unfettered access of our educational system by the United Nations. Some textbooks and curricula for our public schools have already been written by the [United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization] UNESCO and the International Baccalaureate program, that is currently in many school districts, across the United States. Grabbing additional access is a natural next step. Once they write the curricula, they must have authority to develop all testing tools."

The UN involvement in the American educational system has already been facilitated by treaties signed by American presidents from both parties. Those documents include but are not limited to: Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Treaty on the Rights of the Child, Civic Education: Classroom Connections, and Agenda 21.

The  US Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development (since 2003), is the nexus of the UNA-USA and Global Leadership Coalition at the Department of Education, which altogether leverages the UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014.  UNESCO, the lead agency of the Decade, defines Education for Sustainable Development as "education for everyone everywhere" for the "lifelong learning" of "present and future generations".

The UNA-USA sponsors Model UN across America and tailors its Global Classrooms curricula to whichever setting the kids happen to be participating.  Children are unknowingly trained to respond with prescribed consensus to the situations, simulations and stimulation's of the particular activity (Delphi Technique).  Global Kids is the CFR arm of Connect All Schools Consortium, a new Department of Education network, led by Independent Sector and The White House via United Planet Partners.  Global Kids is preparing children for Agenda 21.

The White HouseNSA and CIA now have website divisions aimed at kids.  The Public Education Network is a national association funded by Independent Sector donors: plus Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Department of Education

"Funders" of the Rockefeller Foundation-backed International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), "Members" of the the Sustainability Consortium, backed by the EPA and BSR (Rockefeller Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, State Department) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-backed International City/County Management Association (ICMA): Center for Sustainable Communities (an ICLEI "Partner") are "partnered" with local schools and governments.

From the Partnership for 21st Century Skills aligning the Common Core State Standards with "professional development" content for teachers and principals and Lego Robotics curricula for students (Carnegie Mellon/Lego Education); to software curricula through websites like: cyberschoolbus.un.org, icivics.org, atomiclearning.com, renlearn.org, brainpop.com and ttl4.sunburst.com; to the weekly deliveries of Time for Kids magazine and textbook curricula into classrooms; kids are programmed with UN-defined values.  State Governors administer Federal funds to "Community-Oriented Policing" systems like Crime Stoppers (The UN, FBI and other law enforcement and corporate partners administer Crime Stoppers International), the local student-equivalent of the Department of Homeland Security's' "See Something, Say Something" campaign; whereby children see hand-drawn posters of child characters on school walls displaying "Eyes Looking", "Ears Listening", "Mouth Reporting" with a hotline to call.  Presidents Bush and Obama have personally followed the George H. W. Bush/Clinton trail of the Agenda 21/ Sustainable America megabanks-maze in "bipartisan" fashion.

UNESCO PLEDGES SUPPORT OF COMMON CORE

From UNESCO's document "The Vision of Education Reform in the United States" it states: "My department has been pleased to partner with the US Agency for International Development to help ensure that our best domestic practices are shared world-wide. The United States provides over a billion dollars annually to partner countries working on educational reform. Our goal for the coming year will be to work closely with global partners, including UNESCO, to promote qualitative improvements and system strengthening....Ultimately, education is the great equalizer. It is the one force that can consistently overcome differences in background, culture, and privilege."

THE UN'S AGENDA 21- COMMON CORE IMPLEMENTER!

In the United Nations Agenda 21 (Guide for the 21st Century), Chapters #25 and #36 specifically talk about education of our children:

Principle #25- "Children and Youth in Sustainable Development." In the "Activites 25.9.d" it states: "Ensure access for all youth to all types of education, wherever appropriate, providing alternative learning structures, ensure that education reflects the economic and social needs of youth and incorporates the concepts of environmental training, implementing innovative methods aimed at increasing practical skills, such as environmental scouting."

Principle #36- "Promoting Education, Public Awareness and Training." In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5.g" we read: "Within two years the United Nations system should undertake a comprehensive review of its educational programmes, encompassing training and public awareness, to reassess priorites and reallocae resources. The UNESCO/UNEP International Environmental Education Programme should, in cooperation with the appropriate bodies of the United Nations system, Governments, non-governmental organizations and others, establish a porgramme within two years to integrate the decisions of the Conference into the existing United Nations framework adapted to the need of the educators at different levels and circumstances. Regional organizations and national authorities should be encouraged to elaborate similar parallel programmes and opportunies by conducting an analysis of how to mobilize different sectors of the population in order to assess and address their environmental and development education needs."

In the Activities Section of this document in "36.5 h" we read: "There is a need to strengthen, within five years, information exchange by enhancing technologies and capacities necessary to promote environment and development education and public awareness. Countries should cooperate with each other and with the various social sectors and population groups to prepare educational tools that include regional environment and development issues and initiatives, using learning materials and resources suited to their own requirements." Sounds just like PARCC and SLDS. ASU's Institute for Global Sustainability and their "Sustainable Cities Network" is doing a fine job "brain-washing" our students in our high schools on sustainability, global warming (aka climate change), etc. Go here to meet the ASU sustainability schools!

Reality Check.....COMMON CORE EDUCATION = COMMUNISM IN AMERICA!

Common Core Education is the INDOCTRINATION of our CHILDREN.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT RHETORIC FROM MIKE HUCKABEE!!!

Reality Check- just in case you ever had a doubt......MIke Huckabee is a typical GOP Establishment person.

Mike Huckabee is now championing Common Core Education on Fox News for the GOP!  How disgusting is that?!?!?
"Mike Huckabee Urges Conservatives to Back Common Core Standards"

This is another reason why Constitutional Conservatives MUST leave the GOP and beware of what you hear on Fox News.  Fox News continues to move to the left - to the liberal progressive side of issues.  That is the very very sad but true fact.

Mr. GOP Huckabee....."It's disturbing to me there have been criticisms of these standards directed by other conservatives including the RNC," Huckabee wrote. "The truth of the matter is, these criticisms are short-sighted."    see attached article from Sunshine News.        Send a message to Mr. GOP Huckabee at http://www.mikehuckabee.com/masterfeedback and send a loud message to the every more liberal progressive Fox News!
Americans that believe in our Constitution must not be silent about this!

Do NOT let Fox News get away with promoting the very liberal progressive Common Core Education that promotes the ideology that American Children are Common/Community Property!

Do NOT let Fox News get away with promoting the loss of state's rights and the federal government taking over Education.  WE NEED TO ABOLISH THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION - NOT EMPOWER IT!

If you support SOCIALISM AND COMMUNISM FOR THE U.S.A. then COMMON CORE EDUCATION IS FOR YOU.  If you believe in the U.S.A. CONSTITUTION....then YOU WILL LOUDLY AND OPENLY REJECT AND OPPOSE COMMON CORE EDUCATION AND ANYONE THAT PROMOTES IT!!

Common Core Education is the indoctrination of American Children.  This is NOT acceptable if you still believe in FREEDOM!!

Sally Baptiste
www.blogtalkradio.com/americanstatesman

The proponents of Common Core say that the standards ARE state led because they were developed by The National Governors' Association.
Well, perhaps this is true in a way that is very disturbing!  Listen to this speech at the 1989 NGA conference on education (at 12:48).

The Development of Common Core, Explained by Michael Chapman
The Development of Common Core, Explained by Michael Chapman

The video says this is a clip from the 1989 National Governors'Assoc conference on Education:

Sr. Director of Mid-Continental Regional Education Laboratory, Dr. Shirley McCune

 She says about education:

#1) Total transformation of our society

#2) Teaching of facts and information (knowledge) is no longer the primary purpose of education

#3) Close connection between economic (sustainable) development and human capitol (human resource labor for a planned economy)

A group that allowed this kind of rhetoric to be said at their meeting? I don't think I want them developingeducational standards!  Please read to the bottom for transcripts from the 1987 NGA meetings chaired by Bill Clinton.  These transcripts are eye-opening.  They are clearly more concerned with workers for the manufacturing.  They seem to have concerns that we have students who can't read well enough (non-English speaking especially) to function in the manufacturing plants, and then on the other end of the spectrum... too many with higher ed degrees who don't WANT to work in the manufacturing.  So... what to do about all this?  Hummm.... standards!  Make sure they read well enough to function as the industrial workers, but not so well that they don't want to!!!   This is the John D. Rockefeller goal of the early 20th century when he started pushing for compulsory government schooling and funding the building of government schools.

NOW.... review the transcripts below of the conferences chaired by Bill Clinton:

Making America Work: Productive People, Productive Policies

March 25, 1986

1987 Winter Meeting with Bill Clinton as chair, you will find on page 12 that the governors unanimously adopted a policy to adopt an INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY.    http://www.nga.org/files/live/sites/NGA/files/pdf/1987NGAWinterMeeting.pdf

1987 Annual meeting.   See page 34of this document to see how those governors seem to be concerned that we aren't training our students for the "workforce." They are concerned that the professors of higher ed are telling students to strive for more than the job of working in the manufacturing plants.  On page 40 they start talking about standards needed in education.  " See page 42 with this statement by Governor Sinner (great name!) to Lee Iacoccoa: "But you also made a point about the terrific cost to industry of the disparity between states in these regulations and I wondered, with all the fuss and the furor that we make over states' rights...."  http://www.nga.org/files/live/sites/NGA/files/pdf/1987NGAAnnualMeeting.pdf

June 11, 2013: Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) leads the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee in a markup of the Strengthening America's Schools Act of 2013, an education initiative to replace No Child Left Behind.  http://www.c-spanvideo.org/event/220036

At the June 10 Common Core forum in Fayette County, Superintendent Barge stated over and over again that if Georgia wants to change these standards at any time, we have the ability to do so.   The testimony below contradicts this belief by Superintendent Barge and confirms that states who adopted the Common Core standards DO NOT have the ability to change the standards in any way on their own.

2:23:00 - Rep. Tim Scott discusses his amendment to Harkin's bill.  Instead of states being forced to adopt blanket standards like Common Core as a prerequisite for funding, let's put decision-making back in the hands of parents and teachers in our communities."

2:31:00 - It is admitted that states who want to change the CC standards, the Secretary of Education would have to approve it.  States DO NOT have the ultimate decision making abilities!

2:39:00 - Alexander reads page 89 of the bill stating that any changes to standards MUST go through the Secretary of Education for approval.

As are most of the amendments offered by Republicans to this education bill, the Scott Amendment is defeated 12-10.

DATA COLLECTING: Senator Burr at the 1:00:00 mark reveals information about ADDITIONAL data points that this legislation will add to the data mining.  He says that his count is now 500 data points.

TEACHER EVALUATIONS: Senator Alexander at 2:00:00 mark discusses his amendment to end federally mandated school and teacher evaluations.  He says states had a "gun to their head" to adopt the teacher evaluations because they were desperate for NCLB waivers.   He makes the charge that the Harkin bill creates a "NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD. The Gates Foundation involvement is mentioned frequently.

Harkin says over and over "this is voluntary."  If states don't want to implement the programs in the bill we just don't accept the money!"    More strong evidence that our states need to "just say no" to all federal education dollars.   As is pointed out in this debate: Any private business that entered into a partnership where the partner who contributed 10% funding got 80-90% of the control (as is the case with education funding under NCLB and Common Core) the partnership is DOOMED TO FAIL!

The Growing Threat of Smart Meters

Sustainable Development is code for a policy designed to transform human society, essentially eliminating individual life decisions and replacing them with top - down, one-size-fits-all government control. In steady fashion, the agenda for this new policy, designed at the international level, is put into place piece by piece with a new government council here, and new regulation there, each designed to appear as a "local" development program. Like the proverbial frog in the slowly boiling pot, many Americans fail to notice the rise in government heat.

The main course of action to impose the new agenda is through the pretense of environmental protection; "Sorry about your rights, but if we don't save the planet, then we will all perish!" And so with the devastation of a thousand pin pricks, America and its form or government is being changed through the creation of non-elected boards, councils and regional governments, designed to enforce the new regulations and "assure that we protect the environment."

The pin pricks come disguised as such issues as controls on community development; controls on use of private property; controls on use of open space; creation of development areas, many times under the excuse of historic preservation; communities designed on the blue print of pack and stack housing; making it harder to drive as roads are narrowed, even forcing cars to share the road with bicycles; the enforcement of expensive mass transit boondoggle projects; and the never ending spending spree on inefficient, unworkable alternative energy, such as wind and solar power.

In fact, control of energy and water are the two most effective tools in the enforcement of the Sustainable Development agenda. Without energy and water, human society stops. Using strict controls on how, or even if, energy and water can be used provides government with the power to dictate every aspect of society.

ImmigrationCounters.com provides the key numbers and events related to illegal immigration in the United States. Using the latest government and private sources, research and analysis trending data is factored at their individual rates of increase. For information about the research behind the individual counters clickhere Data Sources ImmigrationCounters.com supports legal immigration and respect for all humanity yet highlights the significant impact of illegal immigration in America.

ImmigrationCounters.com informs the public of the realities of illegal immigration while challenging the myths and misinformation surrounding it. After decades of passively watching this problem grow, most Americans are now more aware of the severity of this issue. Our government has demonstrated a complete lack of urgency to control illegal immigration both on the borders and within the interior. Because of this large failure that which traditionally had been the American way of welcoming immigration is now dividing the country because of one word, illegal. Opposing illegal immigration and wanting the laws enforced is not un-American. It is time to set the record straight on what is un-American, illegal is un-American.

The issue of illegal immigration doesn't need more laws, studies or debates, it needs leadership and enforcement. America doesn't need immigration reform, it needs leadership reform. Because our government has failed to enforce the existing immigration laws, why should anyone be confident they will do so with expanded immigration reform? Because of these failures, legislators have been addressing the problems at their local levels with bills to manage it incrementally, piece-by-piece, rather than trying to fix the national problem at once--an impossible task. What most Americans expect is to have our borders secure, enforcement of the existing laws within the interior, meaningful punishment of employers who hire illegally and removal of incentives such as birthright citizenships and public school enrollments without status verifications. We must also address the fact that we're soft on criminals caught in crimes and aren't deported. No other country would allow this to continue. 40% of them entered the country legally and overstayed their visas. Yet there's still no reliable method to verify if Visa overstays have left the country. Another incentive that must be addressed is the birthright citizenship program that has resulted in millions of children and parents receiving instant rights and benefits. Some have called them "GPS babies" and this certainly cannot be what the authors of the 14th Amendment intended to occur. Public housing and other benefits are provided for the illegal parents through their 'anchor children' while citizens are turned away because of limited resources. This antiquated program must end. Government agencies and officials at all levels must address the costs associated with this kind of abuse. Past mistakes have been made in attempts to fix illegal immigration and our communities can no longer afford these kinds of mistakes.

RedState Morning Briefing

RedState Morning Briefing

For July 31, 2013

Friends, our dear friend and former RedState assistant editor Caleb Howe is in dire circumstances.  He needs your prayers.  A fund has been set up to help Caleb Howe's family. Most of you know Caleb. For several years he was my right hand here at RedState. He has been badly missed.

Right now, Caleb is in a hospital bed with a failing liver. His children, ages 11 and 14, are getting ready to go back to school. The family needs help.

It would lift an incredible burden for Caleb & Donna if they could get even the smallest amount of help with these upcoming expenses. If you're not in a position to give, your prayers are always welcome in lieu of a donation. Thank you for your compassion and help.  The fund was created by Thomas LaDuke at GoFundMe.  All funds collected will be administered by Caleb Howe's mother for the benefit of his daughters.

Thanks.

Erick

1.  From Pig to Man, and From Man to Pig

In 2003, then just Doctor Tom Coburn, published his book. It was titled Breach of Trust: How Washington Turns Outsiders into Insiders. An eye witness account of the Republican Revolution of 1994 and following, journalist Robert Novak wrote the forward to the book. In his forward, Novak noted that Coburn, while serving in the Gingrich House of Representatives, realized "Speaker Gingrich, House Majority Leader Armey and the rest of the Republican leadership were not what they pretended to be. They were revolutionaries in name only, content to take possession from the Democrats of the machinery of government and then run it virtually unchanged."

Coburn, in the book, wrote how Gingrich began referring derisively to "the conservatives". Coburn wrote, "Gingrich would receive our input, but he rarely took it seriously. He usually made us feel as if we didn't have much value because we didn't know anything about the political game in Washington. We were from the outside and wet behind the ears in terms of politics, and we obviously didn't know as much about history as he did." [Emphasis added]

In 2004, Senator Coburn ran for the Senate. The Republican Establishment opposed him, putting up a squishy Republican. He was the first candidate we at RedState supported.

Below is the agenda for the RedState Gathering.  In addition to all these speakers, you'll get to meet Steve Penley, who art has graced the RedState Gathering for several years.  You'll also get to meet several hundred RedState members who'll be traveling from all over the country to New Orleans for this event.  This one is particularly special for me as my parents, sisters, their families, and my own wife and children will be with me for their first RedState Gathering.  I'll see you there Thursday evening. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

5.  Why We Always Lose, and the Need for 21st Century Conservatives

Ever since the 1930s, or perhaps the times of Woodrow Wilson and the progressives, we've ceased to function as a constitutional republic governed by our founding laws.  Instead we have transitioned into a pure democracy government by majority rule.  The tyrannical rule of a majority of the political class, in conjunction with the lack of courage from those who claim to represent We the People, has bequeathed us with a losing equation for almost a century. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

6.  For Jesus. The World Against Me.

Rachel Held Evans, as most of the more liberally oriented Christians do these days, trots out the already tired trope that just raises my blood pressure. She - and for the sake of your soul and sanity I won't even bother linking to her column because, like much of what liberal Christians who want a truce with a secular world write, it is filled with nonsensical kumbaya begging evangelicals to just accommodate the world - writes:

"We want to be known for what we stand for, not what we are against."

Note to Rachel Held Evans and the rest of the liberal Christian crowd: we stand for Jesus. It's not hard. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

ISSUE BRIEF
Defunding Obamacare: The Next Best Option

FACTSHEET
What Happens During a Government Shutdown?

07/31/2013

Is it that time again already??

It's not even August, and Members of Congress are starting to buzz about the upcoming budget and debt ceiling fight-which likely won't happen until later this fall. But the posturing has begun, and the media are happy to oblige.

The thing is, a government shutdown isn't necessary-and lawmakers aren't proposing a government shutdown.

What some are proposing is that Congress fund normal government activities, but refuse to fund Obamacare. The upcoming budget legislation, called a continuing resolution, is a decision point for Obamacare funding.

"Under no circumstances will I vote for a continuing resolution that funds even one single penny of Obamacare," says Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). He and fellow Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), and Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Rand Paul (R-KY) are urging their colleagues to do the same.

>>> VIDEO: Cruz, Lee, and Rubio Make the Case for Defunding Obamacare

Heritage health care expert Chris Jacobs says that defunding is the best option to protect vulnerable Americans hit by Obamacare's threats:

The list of Obamacare's failures grows by the day. It is not that portions of the law are unworkable-the entire law is unworkable. Absent the law's complete repeal, only full defunding would ensure that the American people are not subjected to any of these destructive policies.

>>> Why Defund Obamacare?

What the shutdown fearmongers are talking about is Congress reaching a budget impasse-which could happen for a variety of reasons, including disagreement over Obamacare funding. If Congress doesn't pass legislation to continue funding the government, then when the previous funding expires, it "shuts down."

"Shutdown" actually sounds more dire than it is. The government services that shut down are the non-essential ones. As Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said at Heritage's Bloggers Briefing yesterday, this is what happens...every weekend. Have you ever tried to call the Department of Agriculture on a Saturday?

A "shutdown" would temporarily impair some government activities, but deficit spending, growing debt, and the burden of Obamacare will harm the economy and Americans' opportunities and income permanently.

The next logical step? Don't feed the beast. Don't invest more dollars into implementing, enforcing, or creating the architecture of Obamacare.

Terrorists Not Involved in 4th Plant Explosion of the Year?

39856

It seems quite a coincidence that there have been so many accidents this year at plants across the country. They still don't know what happened at the Texas fertilizer plant or the chemical plant in Louisiana. But we keep being told that terrorists aren't involved. If they don't know what happened I'm not sure how they can say this. Especially with how easy it is for illegals to get jobs at these places. It certainly seems that something is going on.

Check it out:

Eight workers were injured late Monday night, including four critically, in a series explosions that could be heard from up to 10 miles away inside a central Florida propane plant.

Authorities have not ruled out human error and say it appears workers were on the assembly line when the fire broke out.

Manning found guilty on five counts of espionage
By Carlo Muñoz

Former Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning was found guilty Tuesday of five espionage accounts.

The decision means Manning could spend the rest of his life behind bars. The maximum sentence for the charges would be 150 years.

Army Judge Col. Denise Lind found the 25-year old former Army Private guilty of the five charges. But he was found not guilty of the most serious charge of providing aid to the enemy, which carries a life sentence.

The Saudi's feeling the pinch

A Saudi prince issued an extraordinary warning recently. See the Sky News story below.

Imagine a world where Saudi Arabia couldn't spend billions of dollars every year funding mosques and madrassas around the world, and exporting materials and imams that espouse radical Islamist ideology.

That day may come sooner than anyone could have ever dreamed. Already the Saudi's are feeling the pinch thanks to the "fracking" revolution.

The next smart step would be Congress passing fuel freedom legislation. This would allow consumers to choose from different transportation fuels in the marketplace (such as methane produced by abundant U.S. natural gas).

Thanks to this free market competition, you would save money every time you filled up your car - and place a choke hold on Saudi Arabia and every other OPEC nation that exports Islamist ideology and terrorism.

Saudi Prince: Fracking Is Threat To Kingdom

As the fracking revolution eases demand for the kingdom's oil and gas, a billionaire prince warns his nation to find new income.

Sky News
9:49am UK, Monday 29 July 2013
http://news.sky.com/story/1121610/saudi-prince-fracking-is-threat-to-kingdom

A Saudi prince has warned that his oil-reliant nation is under threat because of fracking technology being developed elsewhere around the world.

Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal said the Gulf Arab kingdom needed to reduce its reliance on crude oil and diversify its revenues.

His warning comes as rising shale energy supplies in the United States cut global demand for Saudi oil.

In an open letter to his country's oil minister Ali al Naimi and other government heads, published on Sunday via his Twitter account, Prince Alwaleed said demand for oil from Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) member states was "in continuous decline".

He said Saudi Arabia's heavy dependence on oil was "a truth that has really become a source of worry for many".

He added that the world's biggest crude oil exporter should implement "swift measures" to diversify its economy.

Prince Alwaleed, owner of international investment firm Kingdom Holding, is unusually outspoken for a top Saudi businessman.

But his warning reflects growing concern in private among many Saudis about the long-term impact of shale technology.

It is allowing the US and Canada to tap unconventional oil deposits which they could not reach just a few years ago.

Chancellor George Osborne has also announced support for fracking in Britain and in offshore waters, to ease a reliance on foreign oil and gas.

Some analysts think this may push demand for Saudi oil, as well as global oil prices, down sharply over the next decade.

Over the past couple of years the Saudi government has taken some initial steps to develop the economy beyond oil.

It has sought to liberalise the aviation sector and provided finance to small, entrepreneurial firms in the services and technology sectors.

Mr Naimi said publicly in May that he was not concerned about rising US shale oil supplies.

Prince Alwaleed told Mr Naimi in his open letter, which was dated May 13 this year, that he disagreed with him.

The prince said: "Our country is facing a threat with the continuation of its near-complete reliance on oil, especially as 92% of the budget for this year depends on oil.

"It is necessary to diversify sources of revenue, establish a clear vision for that and start implementing it immediately."

The prince said Saudi Arabia should move ahead with plans for nuclear and solar energy production to cut local consumption of oil.

The shale oil threat means Saudi Arabia will not be able to raise its production capacity to 15 million barrels of oil per day (mbpd), Prince Alwaleed argued.

Current capacity is about 12.5mbpd; a few years ago the country planned to increase capacity to 15mbpd, but then put the plan on hold after the global financial crisis.

While most Saudi officials have in public insisted they are not worried by the shale threat, Opec has recognised that it needs to address the issue.

In a report earlier this month, Opec forecast demand for its oil in 2014 would average 29.61mbpd, down 250,000bpd from 2013. It cited rising non-Opec supply, especially from the US.

The fracking warning comes as Saudi Arabia announced three foreign consortiums - led by US, Spanish and Italian firms - have won a $22.5bn contract to build Riyadh's 110-mile, six-line metro train network.

Campaign for Working Families

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

To: Friends & Supporters

From: Gary L. Bauer

"No Jews Allowed"

Efforts to restart stalled Middle East peace talks began yesterday at the State Department. Unfortunately, we already have seen two outrages, one from Barack Obama and one from Mahmoud Abbas.

Friday afternoon, citing "the national security interests of the United States," President Obama issued an executive order releasing approximately $150 million to the Palestinian Authority. Obama has the legal authority to issue such orders in spite of congressional opposition.

Nevertheless, what does it tell us about the "peace process" that Obama must bribe the Palestinians with our tax dollars in order to get them to the negotiating table? That taxpayer money should stay here for pressing needs rather than being used to prop up the corrupt Palestinian regime, which continues to honor jihadist homicide bombers.

Just how corrupt is the Palestinian Authority? Speaking in Egypt yesterday, Mahmoud Abbas said, "In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli -- civilian or soldier -- on our lands."

Sound familiar? Abbas sounds like Adolf Hitler and his "final solution" to the so-called "Jewish problem" in Europe. Abbas is talking like a 1920s-style segregationist saying that under his plan no Jews will be allowed to live in a future Palestinian state.

Ironically, America's first president of color is silent about Abbas's stated goal of a Jew free zone while he embraces the George Wallace of Palestine. There are a million Arabs in Israel. But not one Jew will be permitted in the Palestinian territories. And Abbas not only wants his Palestinian state, he also demands the right to flood Israel with millions of additional Palestinian "refugees."

Yet in spite of this vile hatred and unreasonable demand, most of the pressure during these negotiations will come down against the Israelis. Already the Obama Administration has pressured Israel to release scores of convicted terrorists as a sign of "good will."

And the front page of today's Washington Post offers this headline: "As Talks Begin, Jewish Settlers Present Challenge." So the "challenge" is not Hamas or Palestinian anti-Semitism, but Jews living in Judea and parts of Jerusalem.

Yet long before there were so-called "settlements," Israel's enemies had tried repeatedly to destroy it. The problem isn't Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria. The problem is that too many of Israel's neighbors don't believe Israel has a right to exist.

Kudos To Don Lemon

Last Monday Bill O'Reilly took on Barack Obama and the "civil rights industry" for failing to accurately define the problem facing the black community: "the disintegration of the African American family." Predictably, O'Reilly's comments were derided by many liberal commentators.

But CNN's Don Lemon had a different take. Lemon, who is black and a homosexual, said, "[O'Reilly's] got a point. In fact, he's got more than a point. ...But in my estimation, he doesn't go far enough."

Lemon then proceeded to address his black viewers directly and offered them a five-point plan to improve their own lot in life:

  • "Pull up your pants." As Lemon noted, saggy pants comes from the prison culture, where prisoners are not permitted to have belts. And there is another connotation from the homosexual subculture that permeates many prisons.
  • He told blacks to reject the use of the "N" word.
  • Lemon told blacks to "respect where you live," and stop littering.
  • He told them to respect education, saying, "Stop telling kids they're acting white because they go to school or they speak proper English."
  • Lastly, Lemon said this: "Number one, and probably the most important, just because you can have a baby, it doesn't mean you should. ...More than 72 percent of children in the African-American community are born out of wedlock. That means absent fathers. And the studies show that lack of a male role model is an express train right to prison."

I suspect there isn't much Mr. Lemon and I would agree on. But when it comes to the persistent problems plaguing the black community, we agree completely. And I applaud him for having the courage to speak out on this subject. If only Barack Obama and liberal Democrats would do the same.

Dr. Dean Disses Obamacare

Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, who has also been a practicing physician, published an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal this week that was surprisingly candid about Obamacare. Don't get the wrong impression -- Dean is not abandoning his left-wing policies.

But Dr. Dean is not a fan of one of Obamacare's central components -- the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Sarah Palin famously made headlines when she referred to Obamacare's "death panels" and many conservatives have blasted the IPAB as setting the stage for rationing. Dr. Dean agrees, writing:

"One major problem is the so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board. The IPAB is essentially a health-care rationing body. By setting doctor reimbursement rates for Medicare and determining which procedures and drugs will be covered and at what price, the IPAB will be able to stop certain treatments its members do not favor by simply setting rates to levels where no doctor or hospital will perform them.

"There does have to be control of costs in our health-care system. However, rate setting -- the essential mechanism of the IPAB -- has a 40-year track record of failure. ... Most important, once again, these kinds of schemes do not control costs. The medical system simply becomes more bureaucratic."

Former Ambassador: Benghazi "Stand Down" Order Came from Obama

bastard-150x150

Was there ever any doubt?
Check it out:

Ann Wagner, a former US ambassador and current congresswoman from Missouri, was interviewed about what the protocol would be for a "stand down" order in the event of a consulate being under attack, and she answered what many have suspected already: that's an order that would come from Obama himself.

This is one of the reasons that the Obama administration has essentially refused to provide details about where Obama was at or what he was doing during the attack. This is because we know exactly what he was doing - ignoring the cries for help for political reasons.

Being wrong about policy is one thing. But ignoring the screams of those who work for you because you'd rather them die than accept that your foreign policy is creating more terrorists is a level of treason rare, even for the most despotic tyrants.

Terrorist Chic in France, From the Jeu de Paume Exhibit to Al Durah to Mohamed Merah

A controversial new exhibit celebrates mass murderers and raises war propaganda to the level of high art

A poster of the exhibit 'Phantom Home,' by Palestinian photographer Ahlam Shibli, outside the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris, June 2013. (AP Photo/Remy de la Mauviniere)

This Summer the French National Museum, the Jeu de Paume, once famous for its display of Impressionist paintings, is hosting an astonishing photography exhibit,Phantom House. The work of an Israeli Bedouin woman, Ahlam Shibli, it assembles an eclectic series of photographs that depict a number of different groups whose homes are really not theirs, or who do not have homes-people who "live under oppression." These include Bedouin "Trackers" who enlist in the IDF, "Palestinians" living in the Galilee and Jordan, Polish children in orphanages, Middle Eastern LGBTs who live in Western countries, the French of Corrèze during the Nazi occupation, and, in by far the most elaborate of the exhibits, the Palestinian families of "martyrs" who "resisted" the "occupation," standing with the pictures, posters, and graves of their "disappeared" relatives.

The exhibit has elicited predictable controversy. These alleged "martyrs" who "took control of their own deaths," the object of loving devotion by their families, are actually mass murderers who killed themselves in order to murder as many children, women, civilians as they could. Like so much of the Palestinian narrative, these photos give no place to the "other" except as faceless colonial oppressors. For one Jewish woman, a patron of the museum, the experience was horrifying. Looking at these pictures of "martyrs," she recognized people who had blown up restaurants and buses, which were chosen precisely because there were children there.

Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Obama) Disappears From DC Voter Registration Site Following Exposure By Bloggers

Almost two weeks ago, we reported that Barry Soetoro, an alias of Barack Hussein Obama, was registered to vote in Washington, D.C. Granted, many think this was a hoax and someone other than Obama registered Barry Soetoro in DC. We knew at the time that Barack Obama was registered in Chicago, Illinois and did vote there in 2008 and 2012. However, after the information about Barry Soetoro being registered to vote in Washington, DC, the DC Board of Elections has scrubbed the voter registration for Barry Soetoro with no explanation.

If you recall, we provided the image of the District of Columbia Board of Elections search of Barry Soetoro, which you can see below dated July 20, 2013. Notice he was registered 22 days before the 2012 elections.

072013_1443_BOMBSHELLBa1.jpg

While we are told that Barack Obama took the name Barry Soetoro due to the fact that his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, had married Lolo Soetoro on March 15, 1965 when he was just four years old. Young Barry Soetoro and his mother went to live with Soetoro in Indonesia when he was only 6 years old, but that time was short lived as he was sent to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents at age 10.

It's a different experience for me now as an adult father of three daughters, but the museum has become a phenomenon (along with Anne's diary) of universal appeal. It now draws large crowds of visitors from all over the world. How many of these visitors have any sympathy for the state of Israel or the struggle of the Jewish people for survival? I wonder.

During tourist season the visitors stand in lines blocks long winding around the neighborhood waiting to buy a ticket for admission. We tried the line for a while yesterday and resolved to return this morning before the museum opening to beat the crowd. There was already a line of up to a hundred or so visitors when we joined it 30 minutes before the museum was scheduled to open. The museum opened early and we were in by 9:00. By the time we left at 10:00 a.m. the line was longer than when we left it yesterday, maybe three blocks long. (We learned yesterday that you can also beat the crowd by buying tickets online. Online tickets, however, were gone through July.)

The museum has grown and the story - the museum aptly describes itself as "the museum with a story" - has been filled in. The story is impossibly sad. It represents tragedy and evil without catharsis. We nevertheless have Miep Gies and her helpers who provided for the families in hiding, and that, at least, is not nothing.

Anne and her family lived in hiding in "the secret annex" above Mr. Frank's office with four others for just a little over two full years before someone turned them in to the authorities. Who turned them in? Was it for the reward of 7.50 guilders per Jewish head that the Nazis conferred for such tips? Whatever the motive, the act was pure evil. We learn from Melissa Muller's very good biography of Anne that we have some idea who the perpetrator might have been. This is one aspect of the story that the museum does not touch.

Of the eight who hid in the secret annex, Otto Frank was the only survivor. Anne almost survived. She died within a month of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen, where she also lost her mother and older sister before dying herself. She apparently died of typhus and/or starvation.

The museum faithfully preserves the secret annex. The proprietors have gone to great lengths toward preservation in the spirit of Otto Frank's dictates (which precluded reconstruction of the furnishings as they were). The eight people lived in cramped quarters on two floors.

On one of the walls of the secret annex are pencil markings by which Anne and her older sister measured their growth while in hiding. Those markings stayed with me over the past 50 years. There is no photograph of Anne deriving from the two years in hiding. Today I was struck by how much she had grown in height in those two years.

She also grew spiritually. Anne wanted to become a famous writer. She was a prolific and precocious writer of growing gifts, as Francine Prose demonstrates in her recent book on Anne. She was inspired to begin the project of rewriting the diary in March 1944 when she heard a representative of the Dutch government in exile call for personal accounts of the war period. It is a blessing that Anne has achieved fame as a writer posthumously, but she burned to enjoy the fame as a living author. Her growing gifts impress on us the magnitude of our loss with her murder.

Obama quietly pushes forward with anti-suburban campaign

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 08:03 AM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

I wrote here about President Obama's plans to redistribute wealth from the suburbs to the cities, as exposed by Stanley Kurtz in his book Spreading The Wealth: How Obama Is Robbing The Suburbs To Pay For the Cites. Stanley returns to this theme in a post about the latest element of the president's regionalist policy - the July 19 publication of a Department of Housing and Urban Development regulation broadening the obligation of recipients of federal aid to "affirmatively further fair housing."

As Stanley explains, the apparent purpose of this rule change is to force suburban neighborhoods with no record of housing discrimination to build more public housing targeted to ethnic and racial minorities. Several administration critics have noticed the change and challenged it, even as the mainstream media declines to cover the story.

But, says Stanley, the underlying thrust of the rule change is more revolutionary than forcing racial and ethnic diversity on the suburbs:

The new HUD rule is really about changing the way Americans live. It is part of a broader suite of initiatives designed to block suburban development, press Americans into hyper-dense cities, and force us out of our cars. Government-mandated ethnic and racial diversification plays a role in this scheme, yet the broader goal is forced "economic integration."

The ultimate vision is to make all neighborhoods more or less alike, turning traditional cities into ultra-dense Manhattans, while making suburbs look more like cities do now. In this centrally-planned utopia, steadily increasing numbers will live cheek-by-jowl in "stack and pack" high-rises close to public transportation, while automobiles fall into relative disuse.

To help us understand this vision, Stanley turns to San Francisco and its "Plan Bay Area" program:

Essentially, Plan Bay Area attempts to block the development of any new suburbs, forcing all population growth over the next three decades into the existing "urban footprint" of the region. The plan presses 70-80 percent of all new housing and 66 percent of all business expansion into 150 or so "priority development areas" (PDAs), select neighborhoods near subway stations and other public transportation facilities. This scheme will turn up to a quarter of the region's existing neighborhoods-many now dotted with San Francisco's famously picturesque, Victorian-style single-family homes-into mini-Manhattans jammed with high-rises and tiny apartments. The densest PDAs will be many times denser than Manhattan.

In effect, by preventing the development of new suburbs, and reducing traditional single-family home development in existing suburbs, Plan Bay Area will squeeze 30 years worth of in-migrating population into a few small urban enclaves, and force most new businesses into the same tight quarters. The result will be a steep increase in the Bay Area's already out-of-control housing prices. This will hit the poor and middle class the hardest. While some poor and minority families will receive tiny subsidized apartments in the high-rise PDAs, many others will find themselves displaced by the new development, or priced out of the local housing market altogether.

The Obama administration has helped promote Plan Bay Area. It awarded the agencies that developed the program its second-highest "Sustainable Communities Grant" in 2012, citing the way Plan Bay Area "encourage[es] connections" between jobs, housing, and transportation. As Stanley says, this "encouragement" amounts to locating new residents --poor and minorities included - in existing prosperous communities, replicating Manhattan-style "priority development areas."

Stanley expects that HUD and other agencies will soon begin to press localities directly, rather than through the medium of California's new regionalist scheme. The Sustainable Communities program will be its vehicle, along with suits against recalcitrant suburbs under the Fair Housing Law. As HUD Secretary Donovan admitted when he announced his agency's new regulation broadening the obligation of recipients of federal aid to "affirmatively further fair housing," the reg isn't really focused on preventing "outright discrimination and access to the housing itself."

Donovan also proclaimed: "Make no mistake: this is a big deal." And so it is. While the MSM portrays the Obama administration as devoid these days of big ideas, in reality his big ideas are too controversial for him to discuss.

Hillary For President!

Posted: 29 Jul 2013 06:42 PM PDT

(John Hinderaker)

The liberal press, apparently unchastened by their guy Barack's disastrous term in office, is gearing up for Hillary Clinton's 2016 run. Is America really yearning for an old lady president? I guess we will find out. I didn't believe it for a long time, but it now seems clear that Hillary is determined to reign in the White House until close to her 80th birthday. The Democrats don't mind; they are a geriatric party and don't have a plausible candidate who is any younger.

But I digress. We already knew that a movie titled Rodham is in the works. It will focus on Hillary's role as a 26-year-old staffer on the House Judiciary Committee during Watergate. Since Hillary played no perceptible role in the Watergate affair or its aftermath, the movie could make for a boring couple of hours. On the other hand, actresses like Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon and Amanda Seyfried are reportedly in the running for the role of Ms. Rodham-because, I guess, they look so much like Hillary.

Hillary?

Hillary?

But that isn't all; far from it. We also have the CNN movie that is described as a feature-length documentary on Mrs. Clinton's life. CNN's press release suggests how objective it is likely to be:

CNN Films announced today that it has commissioned a feature-length documentary on Hillary Rodham Clinton from Academy Award-winning director and producer Charles Ferguson. The documentary, currently in pre-production, will take a comprehensive look at the professional and personal life of one of the most powerful women in American politics. It is expected to premiere in 2014 with a theatrical run prior to airing on CNN.

"I am very excited to be making a film about Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose fascinating life and work embody so many of America's, and the world's, hopes and challenges. I am delighted and extremely grateful that CNN Films has given me this remarkable opportunity."

Charles Ferguson is the founder and president of Representational Pictures, Inc. Ferguson produced and directed "No End in Sight: The American Occupation of Iraq" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. The film, which marked his directorial debut, won several awards including the National Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle Award, Toronto Film Critics Association Award, and Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award. Ferguson's critically acclaimed second film "Inside Job" debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010 and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film.

"Inside Job"? Hmm. Wikipedia explains: "The film is described by Ferguson as being about 'the systemic corruption of the United States by the financial services industry and the consequences of that systemic corruption.'" There is a certain irony here-the Clinton administration represented the highest-flying moment for the financial industry, with Wall Street titan Bob Rubin as Clinton's Secretary of the Treasury. Some say that the Clinton administration was the puppet of the financial industry. But somehow I don't think the Hillary "documentary" will remind us of that bit of history.

Is that it for Hillary promotion? Nope: NBC has announced a four-hour miniseries on Ms. Hillary:

NBC announced here on Saturday that it was preparing a four-hour mini-series based on the life of Mrs. Clinton and hoped to broadcast it before any possible formal declaration that she was running. That would avoid the possibility of other candidates demanding equal time, said Robert Greenblatt, NBC's top entertainment executive.

Well, that makes sense. They certainly wouldn't want to have to produce a miniseries about a Republican!

Mr. Greenblatt said NBC bought the project even though it had no script yet, though the deal came with a star attached: Diane Lane, who was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for her leading role in the film "Unfaithful." The Clinton project will be written and directed by Courtney Hunt, who was nominated for an Oscar for writing the film "Frozen River."

Hillary?

NBC's release described the project as a mini-series that would "recount Clinton's life as a wife, politician and cabinet member from 1998 to present." That would include her run for the presidential nomination in 2008.

The NBC release also said, "The script will begin with Clinton living in the White House as her husband is serving the second of his two terms as president. In the years following, she would eventually become a United States senator, run for president and, ultimately, serve the country as secretary of state."

This is the kind of publicity that money literally can't buy. If a man of real accomplishment and virtue like Mitt Romney had had this kind of media support, he might have carried 47 states. But one wonders: how will these multiple filmmakers fill up the hours? NBC reportedly will focus on Hillary's years as Secretary of State. But what accomplishments, exactly, will it cover? The infamous "overcharged" button? The State Department's several sex scandals? Syria? Libya? (Does anyone remember what role Hillary played, if any, with respect to the overthrow of Gaddafi?)

Or maybe Benghazi. Aye, there's the rub.

The lovely and talented Katie Pavlich-her generation's Megyn Kelly, perhaps-appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to comment on the NBC miniseries. Her appearance is brief but effective:

The funny thing about Hillary Clinton is how vastly her reputation exceeds her accomplishments. In reality, the only reason anyone has heard of her is that she married Bill Clinton. Otherwise, she would have toiled away as an obscure, reasonably competent if obnoxious lawyer. She was a relatively unpopular First Lady who is best remembered for being embarrassed by her husband's serial infidelities. She served a brief term as a Senator from New York, a role in which she achieved nothing. Then she lost the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama, and punched her ticket during a singularly unsuccessful stint as Secretary of State. Never has she had an original thought, formulated a successful strategy, or stepped out of the shadow of her singular husband.

Hillary!

But none of that matters: Hillary already has the establishment's enthusiastic backing as she prepares for her next presidential run.

Eliot Spitzer, "umpire of capitalism"

Posted: 29 Jul 2013 04:55 PM PDT

(Paul Mirengoff)

Charles Krauthammer and others have noted that, unlike Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer shrewdly chose to seek a lesser office for his comeback than the one he held pre-scandal. But Spitzer also selected his "lesser office" shrewdly. The Comptroller of the City of New York job is an excellent fit for the self-described "f-ing steamroller," and he has big plans for this post. My conservative cousin from New York explains:

The antics of the Democratic candidate for Mayor may prove to be an amusing sideshow compared to what is in store for New York should Eliot Spitzer become Comptroller. To Spitzer the office of Comptroller is not limited to its traditional function of managing pension funds and auditing municipal operations. Instead, Spitzer will function as a Lone Ranger going after anyone who gets in his way.

To Spitzer the time is "ripe for greater and more exciting use of the office's jurisdiction." Just what he has in mind is laid out in a series of ads that are truly frightening to anyone who believes in limited government.

The overall theme of his campaign is that Spitzer will function as a kind of municipal Lone Ranger bringing his brand of justice to a town unburdened by traditional notions of legal procedure. Spitzer told Stephen Colbert that he aims to be "umpire of capitalism."

In one ad, Spitzer reintroduces himself as "an old friend" who has gone after evildoers - "if someone wanted to take advantage of you, then someone heard from him...loudly." The main villains in the Spitzer worldview are Wall Street money men.

In his crusade against Wall Street, Spitzer goes way beyond the traditional liberal hobby horses of fair executive compensation and socially responsible investing. Rather like the hero in an old Western flick, Eliot is going to drive the bad guys out of town. His latest ad portrays a deserted Financial District cleansed of evil doers by the City's new fighting Comptroller.

Jobs lost...disappearing tax revenue... not a concern of the self-styled Sheriff of Wall Street. New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli soberly pointed out that "as we know when Wall Street slows, New York State and New York City budgets feel the impact and it's a concern." But hey, even though DiNapoli is a Democrat, in Spitzer world he's just another green eyeshade accountant who doesn't understand the more exciting powers of a Comptroller.

Spitzer's sordid record in power as Governor and Attorney General - and I'm not even talking about cavorting with prostitutes - should make voters cringe. A few samples of a man whose reckless use of power knows no bounds:

As Attorney General, he launched failed criminal prosecutions of NYSE head Dick Grasso and AIG Chief Hank Greenberg. Spitzer thought Grasso's salary was too high, maybe it was, but why is that a crime.

Spitzer bullied AIG into firing Hank Greenberg. Many observers say the loss of Greenberg's managerial skills was a major factor in the company's collapse. When former Goldman Sachs Chairman John Whitehead wrote a piece in The Wall Street Journal defending Greenberg, he received the following message from the Attorney General "I will be coming after you...you will pay the price. This is only the beginning and you will pay dearly for what you have done."

After his election as Governor, Spitzer treated GOP leaders as enemies who must be destroyed. He told State Assembly GOP leader James Tedisco "I'm a f-ing steamroller and I'll roll over you." Spitzer aides ordered the State Police to launch a criminal investigation of Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno.

Spitzer's ire is not limited to citizens of wealth and power. To gain headlines he'll go after the little guys he purports to champion. Once, in a phony scandal about fixing horse races, Spitzer brought actions against a man who weighed jockeys right before post time. The successful defense against these charges left this innocent man financially ruined and unemployable.

For sheer demagoguery, Spitzer's only serious rival among New York political figures is Al Sharpton.

More grim news: latest polls show Spitzer ahead of his primary rival Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer 48-36 among likely voters in the Wall Street-Journal-Marist poll, and 49-45 in the Quinnipiac poll. Stringer is a drab five & dime store liberal, but next to Spitzer he's a powerhouse of common sense.

CBC hosts "emergency meeting on Urban" violence in Chicago and other bad signs for the Windy City

Jul 30, 2013 06:13 am | Coach Collins

By Derrick Hollenbeck, staff writer

Chicago is the White Democrat's Detroit and has been for a long time. For the past several years White Democrats in Lansing have been content to let Detroit circle the drain of extinction. They knew the steps that had to be taken; forcing the city to live within its dwindling means; attacking the ever growing crime problem; doing something - anything- about the town's "Worst in America" school system and flushing out the sewer that Detroit's City hall has become. They knew these desperately urgent steps had to be taken but the White Democrats who ran Michigan choose to ignore what was happening. Instead of honest effort they choose to throw money they had extorted from the rest of Michigan into the bottomless Motor City pit so as not to embarrass the incompetent Black Democrats who run the city. All they cared about was keeping those Democrat votes coming. Now Detroit has fumbled, ... Occupy Wall Street Occupies the White House

The Occupy Wall Street Movement may be dead as a doornail, but its spirit is alive and well in the White House. Only a few minutes into his speech on the economy last week, the President went after the target of the occupiers' once seething animosity: the reviled 1 percent. With no new economic agenda to speak of, the President simply recycled the same, hackneyed policy proposals that we've tried, and been disappointed with, before.

Mobility in America: How We Measure Up to the Rest of the World

If it's easier to "get ahead" in Denmark than in America, as we so often hear today, does that mean the American Dream has been permanently exported to Europe? While some economists are busy writing their eulogies, a new Heritage report exposes the challenges of measuring economic mobility across international borders, showing that the American Dream may indeed be alive and well.

The Basics of Progressive Liberalism

Have you ever wondered how the Progressive Movement set the stage for the rise of big government over the past century? Or perhaps you've heard of the "administrative state," but haven't found an explanation in plain English of what it is. Check out Heritage's revamped First Principles page on Progressivism and Liberalism: with some basic Q&As, as well as primary sources and expert analysis, it's the one-stop ideas shop for thoughtful conservatives.

Quote of the Week

"No matter what anyone may say about making the rich and the corporations pay the taxes, in the end they come out of the people who toil. It is your fellow workers who are ordered to work for the Government, every time an appropriation bill is passed. The people pay the expense of government, often many times over, in the increased cost of living. I want taxes to be less, that the people may have more."

- Calvin Coolidge, 1924

Enhancing South Korean-U.S. Naval Capabilities:
Critical to U.S. Interests

By Bruce Klingner

After two North Korean attacks in 2010, South Korea began to redress its naval shortcomings, but deficiencies remain that could put allied interests at risk during the next military conflict. South Korea needs to strengthen its anti-submarine warfare, amphibious, and C4ISR capabilities. The United States needs to reverse course on its defense budget reductions, which are raising doubts among U.S. allies (and enemies) about the ability of the U.S. to keep its security commitments. Beyond putting its fiscal house in order, the U.S. needs to work to improve bilateral and trilateral defense cooperation among South Korea, Japan, and the United States.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye has pledged to reach out diplomatically to North Korea to establish a reciprocal trust-building process. She is willing to provide economic benefits to facilitate North Korean denuclearization and progress toward Korean unification. But Park always emphasizes that the most important pillar of her "trustpolitik" strategy is first to bolster South Korea's military readiness.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) scored a landslide victory in upper-house parliamentary elections on Sunday. With the LDP now in control of both houses of the national legislature, the stage is set for Abe to be a transformational Japanese leader.

According to press reports, the U.S. and the Philippines have floated the possibility of building joint storage facilities for U.S. humanitarian and disaster relief equipment on Filipino territory. Whether countering terrorism or Chinese aggressiveness, the Philippines is a solid American ally in the Pacific.

It is peak Northern latitudes summer holiday time so we are coping with fewer staff as the individual holidays rotate. As well fewer readers are coming to LifeSiteNews for the same reason. I say Norther latitudes because our Austalian writer Andrew Smith reminded me a few day ago that things are pretty cool there as it is their winter season right now. We also saw how cool is was in Brazil for World Youth Day. As an international news service we have to increasingly keep these things in mind.
